  1. The bait monkey got ahold of me this blackfriday season and just wouldn't let go. It somehow found out my wife likes to build Legos and decided to strike a deal with her. If i purchased her some Lego sets, I could spend the equivalent amount on fishing gear. One week later and now I'm waiting on an order of roboworms, senkos, keitechs, zman finnese frogz, jigheads, a cl8bait mighty mouse, some floro and braid, and a 3640 stowaway.
  2. Has anyone used this line? Braid, fluro, mono, fly line, catfish line.. any of it?. I can't seem to find a distributor in the US. I would love to try the 12 carat line or the platinum line of braid.. found something on Amazon UK. That's about it. Nothing concrete locally.. https://www.climax-fishingline.de/en/products/braided-lines/ Here is their main website.. if they make fishing line anything like their cars, It would be lights out!
  3. I just attempted to tie on my first fluro leader to braid, however when I cast or reel in, the knot is getting caught in the guides. I felt like I sinched the knot pretty good but I noticed on the NRX it has more of the smaller guides at the end of the rod. Some of the specs of the equipment I used: - Shimano Metanium MGL - G. Loomis NRX 894 - 50 lbs power pro braid - 20 lbs seagaur red label fluro the knot I used for the leader was a uni-to-uni knot thanks!
  4. I have decided to go with 15lb PowerPro braid as my main line with 12lb Seaguar Premier fluorocarbon leader on my 6'6" medium fast Shimano Convergence + Shimano Symetre 2500FL. I was wondering if it would be ok since 15lb PowerPro braid has 0.008" diameter while Seaguar Premier leader has 0.009". Will that 0.001" diameter difference affect the knot and cause issues? Also how long of a leader should I tie on?
  5. I got some new line (PowerPro) put on my Okuma Fina when I started fishing this summer and yesterday when I visited the tackle shop the guy told me it was 50lb test. I wasn't even aware they put that big a line on there so I asked the guy what he would recommend instead and he said 10lb should be sufficient. I had him put some PowerPro 10lb on the reel and it was definitely a big difference compared to the 50lb. I have to say I'm a big fan of the braided line. I only ever used monofilament my whole fishing life. The braided line is great that it doesn't twist or get all tangled. My question then is this. I have the Okuma on a Field & Stream Tech-Spec rod (6' 6") medium fast action. Is the 10lb a good choice for bass fishing? I'm just wondering now if I shouldn't had the guy put something heavier on there.
  6. I am going to use a leader on a 20 lb Hi Vis braid spinning set up. Would you suggest 8 lb Fluorocarbon or 8 lb Yo Zuri Hybrid as a leader?
  7. So I finally, after 4 years of fishing 65# braid bought a spool of Suffix 832 instead of the ole Original PowerPro. Power Pro has always been good to me, but now the advancement in lines these day, can cut down on a few minor annoyances I have with Power Pro.... 1st, Line Dig in spool...even on 10, 30 & 50, power pro sees to hang on occasion when casting due to line digging 2nd, Color fade, Im a green moss guy and always will be. I use Reel butter line conditioner and when I do fish braid, its frogging matts, slop and pads so all lines will fade, just seems a little quick with PP. Last but not least! Noise, PP Super Slick is not bad at all, but its still p0wer pro and has the line dig and fade, just not as much. I fish 3-4 differnt lakes with differnt quality throughout the year, and feel comfortable with 90% flourocarbon, so use SL Sniper all the way up to 25# for flipping wood and docks, beside SL Senshi mono for topwater, frogging and the occasional punch/flip into heavy vegetation. Suggestions, thoughts, go to he11, lol. Discuss
  8. I'm confused about the true Braid to mono equivelant. I'm reffering to Power Pro Braid, on Cabelas website, Power Pro says that the ratios are:(braid:mono) 15:4 20:6 30:8 etc... However Shimanos website contradicts this. Shimano says that a 2500 size reel will hold 140 yards of 8 lb. mono but only 95 yards of 30 lb. Power Pro. If the ratios were correct than the reel should be able to hold the same amount of 8 lb. mono as 30 lb. braid...Any light on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
