  1. Hey all, I'm trying to get more experience with soft plastic swimbaits and wanted to ask if this is normal. Today I tried out a Big Hammer Ring Hammer texas rigged on a 1/4oz swimbait hook with a screwlock. The tail definitely paddles pretty vigorously, but I noticed as I swam the bait closer to me that the head/front of the bait was also rolling back and forth, pretty aggressively. I think the correct term is the whole bait was "hunting" -- kinda like how the whole bait (head and tail) will rock back and forth on a chatterbait. Is that supposed to happen? I guess I thought just the tail would paddle back and forth, but the head would travel essentially in a straight line. I don't recall noticing the head rolling when throwing a Keitech Swing Impact. Does it matter if the keel weight is lighter or heavier, in terms of causing the head to roll and not just the paddletail? Maybe I only rigged the Swing Impacts on 1/8oz hooks. Or does the "big hammer" tail just cause such a violent roll, compared to the more subtle tail of the swing impact?
  2. I was trying to slowly work over a weed bed and noticed on a TroKar 5/0 EWG Magworm hook with no added weight its constantly rolling over. I was tied directly to it using #15 flouro leader from last year on a spinning rod. I looked at Kietech's rig options and think this would have been their no sinker texas rig. The only difference is the 5/0 and not 6/0. I did order some Owner beast 6/0 and 8/0 weighted and unweighted. Hoping this will fix the issue but would like to know if others know what causes the rolling.
  3. Good morning! This is my official first post. So with all the swimbait research (mind boggling!!) and I have collection going but my eyes keep going back to the BB kicker. (Not sure if I can say the company name) Anybody like them? I'd like to try them out.
  4. Been a terrific week on The Delaware, wading every day, fishing flats in Bucks County. Thought I'd include a few of my better fish from this week thus far. Smallies have been very active under mid day bluebird skies. Best numbers have been on soft paddletail swimbaits on a light weighted hook. During overcast periods or when the wind has made finesse less effective, walking baits have gotten big blow ups worked nearly as fast as I can retrieve on a 7:1 baitcaster. Short strikes or slaps mean I go into hyper-speed and burn, burn, burn - they come back for it ticked off. First cast of the day on Tuesday, I just about jumped outta my shoes when this channel cat whacked my swimbait. Fun fight on 6lb fluoro. Caught several more channels on swimbaits while casting for smallies. Striper have been blistering walking baits on breaklines beside flats all week. I like the Strike King Sexy Dawg, again - fast as I can burn it. Lots on large paddletails and four on a Lucky Craft Pointer 100sp, always on the pause. All fish released as always. Hope you guys are hammering them wherever you’re at!
