  1. I use medium Owner CPS Twistlock Centering Pin Springs to nose-hook Zoom Super Flukes and to make my Homemade Teckel Sprinker Frog Tails. However, I found Hyamass Spring Pin Twistlock. The ones on Amazon are are comparable to medium sized Owner CPSs. Anyone use the Hyamass ones, are they just as good as the Owner ones? They are different as the Owners have a bend in the top and the Hyamass are a full circle.
  2. This year we are starting a new series of jigs. We are going to release a new custom color each month. This month is the Chris Craw. The series will be available in the Extreme (Trokar) Dredge (Owner Deepthroat) Grid Iron (Owner XXX strong hook) Swim Jig (Mustad Ultra Point) (http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Chris-Craw-1619.htm
  3. From now until Dec 24th 2017 we are running a 20% sale on all Keitech, Strike King, Rage Tail, Owner, Moaner, and Zman in stock items. http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Sale-Items_c27.htm
  4. I love using Zoom Super Flukes, especially under docks. However, it seemed that with weightless Texas Rigging the hole where the hook goes through the fluke would eventually get tore up and allow the hook to poke through too much ruining it's weedlessnes and it would start fouling a lot on weeds. I saw a video on here posted by another Bass Resource'r that showed using a medium Owner CPS Twistlock to nosehook the fluke like a Banjo Minnow. It seemed great so I tried it. However, I lost 3 CPS Twistlocks because the opening was just too big for the hook. They weren't lost fighting fish, just during casting. Since I didn't want to change the hook or Twistlock size I had to find a way to keep it on. Owner CPS Twistlocks aren't cheap, so I wanted to avoid losing them. I thought about it and tried putting on some Heat Shrink Tubing on the hook first, then adding the Twistlock, and then putting the rest of the heat shrink over the hook and cutting the excess heat shrink. We tried it out today and if worked great. Caught a lot of sunnies and largemouth including this 3.5lber. Didn't lose any more Flukes or Twistlocks. Also, for some reason this seems to be more weedless than any other way I've tried rigging Super Flukes, including T-Rigging. What you need: 1.) Zoom Super Fluke 2.) 1/8" inch Heat Shrink 3.) Owner Twistlock CPS - medium size 4.) Hook of your choice (I like 2/0 Owner Mosquito Hooks)

  6. How do you guys set the hook with a owner wacky hook?(or any wacky style hook) Do you set it vertical and hard or just a reel set or a slight sweep motion? I fish my senko's vertical so I find it easy setting the hook upwards. I usually yank decently hard since I'm pretty used to it but many times the hook pops out of the fish's mouth. Sometimes it will seem like its on for a second or two and then its gone. I'm switching to these wacky hooks because I heard they have a high hookup percentage and I want to maximize it by doing it right!
  7. Where can you buy owner wacky hooks other than online? And I'm talking about the normal 1/0 ones not the weedless ones. And where would you get it the cheapest? The nearest bass pro to me is like 20 miles away so I don't want to go there to get those hooks. And I've checked in Walmart but it wasn't there, they only had Gamakatsu and Eagle Claw. Dicks seems to have discontinued selling fishing tackle because recently I haven't seen any fishing stuff in their stores. Any place that sells them in stores other than bass pro. I'm in Illinois btw. Also, is there a point to get weedless wacky hooks? Do they lessen hook-up ratio and are they worth the extra $?
  8. So whenever I Texas Rig my senko I use a Gamakatsu EWG worm hook. But recently I have been wacky rigging with o-rings and I was wondering if there is a difference between using a wacky hook such as the owner wacky rig hook or if the EWG hook I am using is fine. As of right now I'm still catching a lot of bass on the EWG hook wacky rigger. It does look a little odd and big but it hasn't been failing me. Is there a specific reason to use the wacky hooks when wacky rigging? Like does using a EWG hook affect the action as compared to a wacky hook. And also is there a difference in using weedless vs non-weedless because I have heard that weedless hooks don't help much anyway.
  9. Im an experienced socal saltwater angler but brand new to freshwater. I want to give freshwater a try because there is a lake close to my school so i could go there after school a few times a week. So far the freshwater gear i have bought is an abu garcia vengeance rod and black max baitcast reel. I also got a few sinkers, roboworms, senko worms, owner hooks for texas rig and carolina rig. And gamamatsu hooks to wacky rig the worms. Also got an all chrome super spook and a daiwa db minnow jerkbait. This was all sold to me(except rod and reel) from my local tackle shop. My question is basicly how to fish these and in what situation should i fish the following setups: wacky rig, texas rig, carolina rig and dropshot. When should i use one over the other? And what techniques should i use to fish these setups? I am hoping by the time i go this weekend and possibly even tomorrow i have enough info to at least have an idea of what i am doing and not just wing it. I will be fishing eldorado park lake if anyone can give me any tips about the lake. Thanks.
  10. I am about to change over to the owner 5304 for my brush jigs, I really like the looks of that hook and I have read nothing but good things about them on this forum. I have a football mold that will accept this straight eye hook. My question is, I have never thrown a football jig with this straight eye before. Is there any difference in presentation or how the bait feels because of the straight eye versus the flat.
  11. Hey guys thought I'd share b/c I always enjoy reading your reports. Season finally opened. I was out on a sunny day. Fishing bays, towards the back end (shallow end). Water was crystal clear. Water temp was 67-70. After a couple smaller guys (2-3lbers) in the pads I backed off and caught a couple 5 lbers (big fish up north!) off a submerged rockpile in 6' water and a stand alone log in 6' water before 9:30am. Caught a few more 2-3 lbers in different sets of pads bringing me to lunch. Wind picked up in the afternoon and started blowing onto one side of the bank laced with pads, I fished along that bank and picked a 5 lber off a laydown with pads around it and a bit deeper water pocket. I picked up a 4.5 lber from about 6" of water in the pads. Everyone of the big fish came from the same rig: 7'0" MH Daiwa Procyon, Shimano Citica, 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid, 1/8oz sinker, owner off-set worm hook, 8" lizard and one fish on a zoom speed worm. The rest of the fish came from a typical frog/braid set-up. One or 2 little guys on a crank bait set up. Nothing on my jig rod (I didn't fish it much as the super clear water forced me to downsize to the worm/lizard setup described above). I wanted to comment on the fact that everyone talks about yo-zuri being a great line on baitcasting gear. I must admit I was extremely happy with it compared to all other mono/FC lines. For the price I can forget about expensive FC lines and it responded so much better in sensitivity and stretch (lack there of) compared to mono. Casts great. I tend to hammer my hooksets on a fairly stiff MH rod and I had 0 breakoffs or knot failures with 12# (san diego jam) where I manage to break 17-20# FC. Best of luck out there guys! (all fish caught and released)
