  1. While I'm interested in hearing about your ideal setups, what I'm really looking for (something I can't seem to find) is some type of chart or list that details each rod with their actions, and the techniques that should be applied. Ex: Heavy Fast Rod works best for Frogging but can also be great for ______. Heavy Moderate..... ...and so forth and so on. Reason being, I have several new rods that I'd like to obviously use properly as well as assure myself that any future additions will be necessary--efficiency. ***Thanks for your input.
  2. Hi and Happy New Year! Sea angler back in the day as a kid in the Irish Sea. Brit living in North Texas, live a minute walk to a great bank on Lake Lewisville. Neighbours fish and thought hey want to get back into the sport! Learning every day. Bass Fishing so different from Sea Fishing in the Irish SEA Discovered that so many incredible people on FB pages and on forum, willing to share advise and knowledge and indeed a great sense of humor! At the moment, only familiar with Texas Rig and plastic worm, just trying to get efficient, caught a few bass and catfish. Any suggestions for next technique I should become familiar with. I only bank fish, no access to boat etc, loving bank fishing and teaching myself :-) and of course watching some incredible sunsets after work! Thanks Katie
  3. Hello all, I'm a fairly inexperienced fisherman and I'm about to make the road trip down from Vermont to Arkansas to camp on the shores of Lake Ouachita (Big Fir campground on the west shore, if it's of any relevance) in December and I keep reading that the bass fishing there is wonderful. Now I've fished before and I've caught a few bass but I've never done anything remotely specific to try to alter my fishing; I just slap a bobber and a hook on the line and throw on either a plastic or live worm. Do you have any suggestions to improve a bass fishing experience in that particular area of the country or any tips in general that will help me catch fish? Thanks in advance!
  4. I'm kind of ashamed to admit this, especially considering i'm 27 and have fished for 24 years, but i don't know how to use a spinning or baitcasting reel. all i've ever used is Zebco closed face reels. i bought a Berkeley Mike Iaconelli spinning combo, but after 3 casts i somehow managed to get a tangle on the reel. I returned it, embarassed because i couldn't use it. i would like to learn, and everyone on youtube makes it look simple, but i don't know where to start. i need a starter combo. i don't have much money (being a working husband and dad who sometimes is lucky to make it paycheck to paycheck). any advice would be appreciated.
