  1. I am going to list my confidence baits and how I like to fish them. I want your opinion on what the best rod reel and line would be for each technique. Specific gear or just specs are fine. Don't have a budget, but nothing under $100 or over $425. Thanks! Ned Rig Free fall in open water, I never drag them. Was thinking a 7'6" ML mod fast with yellow braid and a leader. This is my biggest producer in the spring. Mostly a line watching technique so i might be able to get a cheaper rod. Drop Shot fished either in 25' visibility sand bottom or on milfoil beds. I am currently using 1/0 or size 1 drop shot hooks, and a 1/4 oz round tungsten weight. My rod and reel are my nicest in my arsenal, but my rod just broke and the reel is a 3000, might switch to a 2500. 7'1"MLXF and 25 size reel 10 lb braid, 6-8 lb leader UL Texas Rig Fished with a 1/8 oz lead bullet weight and a peg, a 1/0 hook, and a purple zoom finesse worm. Works great in ponds. mostly pitch to light cover. was thinking 6'6" ML fast and a 20 fish sized reel with 10 lb braid and 8 lb leader Wacky Rig/Skipping Tube I only fish this around docks for big bass. Not sure what to use, maybe a 6'4" MH spinning 3000 sized reel and 30 lb braid? Keitech Swimbait Probably my favorite to use, I use a 3/0 light wire unweighted swimbait hook, and a 1/8 oz hook. I only use 3.8" Keitechs. I don't usually peg. Mostly fished in open water over milfoil, or along weed and dock lines. Was thinking a 7'3" M or MH mod fast and smooth 3000 size reel 15 lb braid 10 lb leader Finesse Swim Jig I really like the KVD Tour Grade Swim Jig in 1/4 oz. I like to fish it around docks and threw light vegetation. Not sure what the best rod or reel is but id prefer casting. Finesse Spinnerbait I like 1/4 oz spinnerbaits with at least one willow, mostly double willow. I like how they swim and stay relatively shallow, while allowing me to cover water fast. I use a 6'6" MH Bucco and Tataula Ct 7.3 with 15 lb floro, great in tight quarters, but not open water. Frog/Swimbait The last bait that I am confident in is a frog or soft 5" keitech swimbait weighted through vegetation. i use a 7'3" MH F and 30 or 50 lb braid
  2. I have a Calcutta 100GT TE that is without a rod currently, and I have a tournament in two weeks. The Gear Ratio is 5.8:1, and I am stumped on what type of rod and technique I should assign it. Any recommendations? I've thought about making it a spinnerbait reel, but I am not sure if 5.8:1 is considered slow rolling or not. Being a shore fisherman as well, making it a deep cranking rod also does not seem to be a swell option. Jig applications are out of the question, as I am picking up a Chronarch XG soon specifically for jigging.
  3. On Christmas I got a new Daiwa Tatula Type-R 100xs with an 8:1:1 gear ratio. I am looking for a new rod and line to accompany the reel. I would like to be able to use this setup in just about any situation with multiple things. Lastly, I am trying to keep price in mind.
  4. Hello all. I'm just returning to bass fishing after an extended absence. I'm in the market for a new rod and reel set up. I've always used spinning reels (my current set up is a 6'6" MF with a 2500 size reel and 6# mono) as they've been the most comfortable and versatile for me. I'm not sure about baitcasters (scary ha ha). I'm looking for something that is very versatile and can be used effectively in the majority of situations and with the majority of baits/techniques. I don't have the money right now to go out and buy 5 or 6 rod/reels for specific stuff. My budget is safely between $100-$200 I'd say. This probably goes without saying but manufacturer/brand recommendations are greatly appreciated. Also, what type and # test line would best suit my needs? I've always used mono but should I be using something different? Any advice, direction, and/or recommendations you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Kris
  5. Im looking to buy a med hvy fast action baitcastin rod and would like to know your guys favorite rod in that action and power. I was thinking maybe a st croix avid x but want some opinions on what i should get, i would like to spend 200 dollars or less maybe 250.
  6. Hey guys I am looking into getting a new "all-around-ish" bait casting rod for 100-150, and I think I have borrowed my options down to three, but will listen to other ideas. This is not a specific order 1.Fenwick Smallmouth Elite Tech 2. St. Croix Rage 3. Daiwa Tatula Thanks guys.
  7. I am looing for a new rod for next year. I am kinda new to bass fishing, any ideas for a good rod that will not break the bank. i do most of my shopping for fishing stuff at Dicks sporting goods since thats the only realy sporting goods store near me any help would be great
  8. Prefer a two piece, spinning reel. Needs to be very sensitive I plan to use this for finesse type fishing, light jigs, weightless plastics, drop shot and Texas rig plastics. What would you suggest?
