  1. I am planning on using my 6'6" Medium spinning rod and 6' ML spinning rod for more river fishing in NC in the Charlotte area. I want to spool the reels with 6 lb test but should I spool it with fluro or mono? I would consider 10 or 15 lb braid to fluro or mono but I don't know how to tie the knots and sometimes using a barrel swivel can be a pain. My goal would be to catch smallies but no idea if that's even realistic in my area so would be happy to use mostly the ML rod and catch any species I can in the rivers. Thanks for the help!
  2. Has anyone used this line? Braid, fluro, mono, fly line, catfish line.. any of it?. I can't seem to find a distributor in the US. I would love to try the 12 carat line or the platinum line of braid.. found something on Amazon UK. That's about it. Nothing concrete locally.. https://www.climax-fishingline.de/en/products/braided-lines/ Here is their main website.. if they make fishing line anything like their cars, It would be lights out!
  3. I’m looking into getting a shimano curado DC 150. I’m not sure if I should use mono or braid?? On my first baitcaster I’m using braid and it’s all right. I will be throwing just about all kinds of baits for bass fishing. But my friend has his spooled with mono and it’s definitely different? So what are the pros and cons? What would you go with? - thanks Anthony
  4. I have 3 baitcasters and am going to be respooling all 3. Do I use YZH on all or do I spool one with BigGame?
  5. Got a baitcaster I'm going to spool with something other than braid. Will be a general purpose setup, you name it I'll throw on this setup. What would you recommend along with what lb test?
  6. I bought Sunline Super Natural 16lb Line and I don't know if its the best choice for crankbaits, jerkbaits and topwaters. what do you guys suggest? for what application its good? im going to use a Rod that has "Regular" Taper.
  7. Ok, so here is my next question to you guys. I've got 2 baitcasters spooled with braid. 1 Spinning Reel spooled with braid, what should I put on the 2 other Spinning reels I have? I was thinking florocarbon on one but not sure what to put on the other. Monofilament?
  8. Made my mind up I'm gonna learn to skip docks and overhangs come Hell or high water. Have a Kistler 6'9" mlh fast action with a Daiwa Tatula SV TWS and wanting line recommendations. Currently have pp ss8 in 50lb right now and absolutely can't stand the stuff. Love pp original but this ss isn't what I was hoping for. What you seasoned skippers use?
  9. I’ve read from a lot of suggestions on here that people use braid to fluorocarbon leaders. Personally tying leaders was always a hassle for me so I generally just tied straight to braid. I plan to give it another try next season. I want to touch on a few things here. 1. Is it worth spending more on a premium line if you only intend it as leader material? The general belief seems to be that higher end fluorocarbons handle better than cheap ones but does it matter for leader? 2. Does fluoro really have any benefit over mono in short <3’ lengths? People extoll the slack line sensitivity and reduced stretch of fluoro but I don’t see these things mattering in short lengths. 3. I’m not sold on fluorocarbon being significantly less visible than mono. I’ve never had issues getting bites on monofilament line in crystal clear water. In many cases I’ve had fish in clear water strike lures on straight braid with no inhibition. 4. How long of a top shot do you normally tie on? From my experience tying a long one on negates the benefits you get from spooling braid. Please enlighten me on these topics. Feel free to try changing my mind.
  10. This might be kind of lengthy but I need some help picking what line I should use. I have a medium light which I plan to use for creek swallies and finesse worm techniques, a medium power spinning rod which I don’t know what I’ll use that for, a medium power baitcaster which I wanna use for crankbaits, finesse jigs, light Texas rigs pretty much everything that’s not too heavy including topwaters, but here’s where I can’t decide, what I plan to use my medium heavy baitcasting setup for is good for fluorocarbon except I wanna be able to use a frog too and braid doesn’t go well with reaction baits from my understanding and jigs and heavier cranks and spinnerbaits. I would love some help on this .
  11. So, while I have fallen victim to my share of broken lines and lost lures, I often wonder whether or not I’m pairing my line with the right tackle; obviously not! In my search for answers, very specific answers at that, I’ve come across what seems to have been the most thorough and yet efficient article on ‘bassfishin’ website titled fishing-line-guide [I couldn’t add link for some reason]. I mean, yes!!! Finally, a very detailed article, but... wow! I couldn’t help but feeling like my three rod, three reel arsenal will get me no where. I realize that there ideal setups per technique or presentation but where’s the middle of the road? How can I make the most out of a reel without having to switch out the line with each lure change? For example, if one of my rod and reel combos can work many techniques and handle (obviously) the weight of many lures but technically based on the article requires a different line for each, how do I get around having to switch out the line? Does anyone have better recommendations? I fish (freshwater) with monofilament because I’m fairly new to fishing and that’s what’s always recommended to me. My current reels and rods are as follows: G.Loomis Mag Bass 782c 6’6” Med Fast Mag Bass 844c 7’ Heavy Fast Crankbait 864C DF 7’2” Med-Heavy Mod Shimano Chronarch 200E7 7.0:1 Curado K 6.2:1 & 8.5:1
  12. For lack of better words, can someone please explain Line Capacity/Test as if you were teaching a child! I've read many posts on the subject but there's so much fisherman jargon and technical terms that I'm a tad confused. I'm new to fishing in regards to finally purchasing my own tackle, rather then just showing up to the lake/ocean and fishing with a buddy's gear. As an example, I got an amazing deal on a few highend rods and one of the reels I purchased new and nearly free, was a Chronarch 200e7. The specs on the box read: Nylon Mono / lb. (yds.) -- 8(180) • 10(155) • 14(110) PowerPro Braided -- 30(190) • 50(120) • 65(80) Nylon Mono -- 8(180) • 10(155) • 14(110) Fil Tresse PowerPro -- 30(190) • 50(120) • 65(80) Lol, I'm so confused! Help, please! I'm looking to purchase a Mono, Braided, and Fluorocarbon Line but I don't know what I'm suppose to purchase for this particular reel or the others for that matter.

  14. I need some opinions from ya'll! I have three rods, a MH, a ML & a MF(all spinning). I'm really trying to focus on getting the best results based on line and rod. I have braid as the mainline on all three with the MH being braid only and i'm throwing heavy topwaters(big whopper plopper) and frogs with that. I'm drop-shotting, ned rigging and finessing with the ML. Last, I'm throwing lighter topwaters, crankbaits, jerkbaits and jigs with the MF. I currently have #10 Seaguar InvizX Fluoro, #10 Sufix Elite Mono and #8 Izorline Copoly. Which line would you put on which rod to maximize my results?
  15. I'm looking for opinions on a good monofilament to use on a baitcasting set I'll be using exclusively for topwater presentations, such as poppers, walking baits like a spook, and prop baits. I'm planning to use 12 - 15#. I've been using braid & fluoro pretty much exclusively for about 10 yrs. I've only got one set up with mono, and it's an ultralight with 6# Trilene XT. I like the XT, but thought there might be better options out there. I've used Suffix Siege in the past too & had no issues. Thanks!
  16. Hey Folks, I am considering restringing my spinning outfits. I run a charter in South Florida, targetting mostly Largemouth in the Everglades, however I do run a lot of Peacock Bass trips. I have traditionally been using Mono around the 10-15lb weight class. I have also experimented with co-polymers (flourocarbon coated mono). The bass get big down here, and i often deal with pretty heavy cover and structure. Also my peacock trips are primarily utelizing live shiners. These monster peacocks and clownknive fish are snapping through the mon and copolymer lines way to quickly for my liking. I am thinking of switching my reels to braid, maybe flouro leaders too. I will break down my primary uses of spinning gear in hopes you all and your vast knowledge can offer some advice on which line or combo of line, would best suit my methods. Topwater plugs, like torpedoes, poppers etc - mono 10-12 lbs because it floats and I like the strretch for those bass that chase, inhale and keep running.... weightless soft plastics, like flukes and stick baits (senko style) -also mono 10-12lb for the stretch again, i think it allows me to give the lures more action with a softer feel (if that makes sense).... Live shiners for peacock and clown knive fish (strong fighters that can reach 15 pounds) -pline copolymer (flourocoated mono) 15lbs - well because i thought it may be stronger and still not visible.... I have 4 outfits tgo restring, any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks folks!
  17. Hey guys i was just wondering , when you go down to a lighter fishing line does the fish feel it as less vibration on its lateral lines. Would it just be the bass not seeing the line per say a 3 lb line to a 6lb line?

  19. I am relatively new to bass fishing and although i know how to rig and fish the basic stuff, i am limited to a rod or two. What type of line would be the best for me to use everything on? I cant decide which one will get me through most situations. I have a 6'6" medium spinning rod and currently have 10 pound mono on it that should be replaced. Thanks
  20. What kind of braid should I use for the spawn. I have a braid setup right now but will they see it and will it effect bites?
  21. I have recently bought a kastking royale legend. It got overwhelming good feedback and is very cheap. I have been researching whether or not to put backing on my reel and have come up with mixed responses. So here is my question. I am going to put on around 40 pound braid on a Spool with holes, do I need backing? Thanks for the help. P.s. Do you think 200 yards of line is enough for a big red drum?
  22. I'm having some trouble with the mono on my bps pro qualifyer. I have it spooled with 14lb spider wire ultracast and the line seems to come off not Smooth and cause more backlash. Thought maybe had too much line so I took some off and that helped a little bit, but I didn't have this problem when I was using the same line in 12lb maybe the 14lb is to thick maybe a different line in 14lb would be better? Thanks
  23. What are some of the best ways to utilize monofilament line, 6-20 lb test, in bass fishing? (Lure Type, Rod Type, Casting/Spinning, etc.) Thanks, Rick
  24. Hey guys I have a question about fishing line. I live in Central Florida and I have gotten pretty big into bass fishing, although I being a student I don't have the budget to buy all the rods and reels that I need for different techniques. That being said I am fishing two rods. I have a 7ft medium spinning rod and then a 7ft MH baitcaster that I use the most. I primarily throw Texas rigged soft plastics with the baitcaster and I want to know what kind of line I should have on this rod that I can use with the most different techniques. I want a line that I can fish soft plastics and jigs with as well as a top water frog from time to time and topwater hard baits and chatter baits. Obviously I know there is not one perfect line but if you were limited to one rod like I am what line would you go with? Also if the answer is braid with a flurocarbon leader do I need to match line diameters or can I use a 12lb fluro leader with 30lb braid even though they are not the same diameter? Any advice about line is greatly appreciated!
  25. what is the best application for the following? BRAID: MONO:
