  1. We have had a ton of rain the last 2 weeks with more forecasted next week so most of our local spots are dealing with significant flooding. What type of lure would you recommend for VERY muddy flooded waters?
  2. I have a small pond on my farm around 3/4 of an acre. My dad stocked 2 grass carp in there around 4 years ago and they are still alive and kicking. They are either both the same sex or have no success in reproducing because I only see these two in there. Both are at least 30 lbs if not more and now my dad doesn't want them in there so I am totally up for the challenge of getting them out of there. One problem. I have no idea where to start. I have read that wonder bread and sweet corn chum could attract them but I'm lost from there. If anybody has tips, tricks, or ideas for me to finally catch these awesome fish I would love to hear it!
  3. Hey guys! I hope spring is treating you better than it is us here in St. Louis, the weather has been crazy it snowed on Easter and tornado season is here. In two weeks ill be headed down to Lake Taneycomo near Branson MO and thought it would be fun to see if anyone had any favorite trout baits/lures they use anywhere or favorite spots on Taneycomo. I have a few already like Roark and Turkey Creek, Money Island and the I-65 bridges If anyone hasn't been and gets a chance its a great place to fish, right above it is Table Rock Lake and right below it is Bull Shoals/White River.
  4. Howdy, I'm from St. Louis, MO. Been fishing for about 15 years mostly just Missouri. I'm a big fan of The Lake of the Ozarks. I've also fished Wisconsin, Texas, and Colorado. I custom paint my own lures, mainly crankbaits but also do poppers, swimbaits, etc.
  5. Hi all, I am from West Central Indiana. Retired from US Air Force a d now work in Indy. I have family in Oklahoma and love fishing there as well as Kentucky a d Missouri. Hoping to branch out to Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Tennessee this year. Jay
  6. Hey yall I am getting ready to go fish some pretty clear water in a couple of weeks and was looking for some advice since I fish nothing but dirty water. I fished there last summer for a little bit but not much success unless it was dark out. The lake is a naturally cold lake that is visible 6-10ft in most places. Any advice on how to fish in this type of water would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Hey all! I'm a fisherman from a little south of the st louis area. I mainly fish small lakes and creeks around my area but I can say there is nothing better than those furious bronze backs. I'm looking for a good stretch on the gasconade or possibly one of the piney's either shallow enough to wade or deep enough for a small jon boat. Any suggestions would be great and please list the access area name. Thanks guys
  8. Does anyone here have ANY luck at all at Clearwater Lake? I've been going there for years with my family and have always had success in the past on bluegill, but now that I've gotten into bass fishing this past year, I can't seem to have any luck there. Does anyone have any tips/pointers for fishing for bass on this lake?
  9. I live about 20 minutes outside of kansas city on the missouri side and i have some local places that i do rather well at, however i would like to expand my fishing area and fish new places in the KC area. If you have any good streams, rivers, ponds, or lakes please let me know!!!
  10. So I live in Mid Missouri near Columbia. I was wondering if there was anyone in the area that has fished this part of the river or near this part of the river for Smallies? I am wanting to take the boat out and try it in the next week or two and would like to hear if any others have had experience with it.
  11. Okay guys, I have a simple but perplexing question for you. There is a statepark in my hometown and the lake there is somewhat small, but not too bad. The lake I am referring to is Watkins Mill Lake in Watkin's Wollen Mill State Park in Excelsior Springs Missouri. I want to know or gain the knowledge of how to fish the submerged weed beds. It seems that the water isnt too deep usually about 10 ft, but around these moss beds is probably closer to about 4'-5'. Now, I know you wouldnt typically fish that shallow of water, but my train of thought is, the submerged moss is great cover, there are bait fish everywhere and for the most part its in the middle of what could be considered coves, so why wouldn't a largemouth be hanging out there ? I typically use a spinner and a chartreuce spinner is what I ws using last time out and I caught my largest bass of the season. The largemouth I caught there last time was just under 5 lbs. (I attached a photo of the 4 lb 12 oz largemouth I caught there last week) I want to land larger fish more consistantly, and I want to know how to fish these moss beds and other cover the lake provides. Any tips? - N.
  12. Late last summer my father and I joined a hunting/fishing club in Missouri and gained access to over 4000 acers of land that has 9 or 10 strip pits. I caught a 5lb 15oz late last summer out of the pits, that could have been about 6.5lbs if it wasnt so lean. I would love to hear everyone's opinions, experiences, and tips to fishing strip mines/pits. I have searched a lot on the internet, and there just isn't a whole lot of good info on pit fishing. I know these pits host big, big bass in them, and I am shooting for an 8, 9, or 10 lber this year.
