  1. I'm from MA and taking a family trip to a friend's house in the Lovell ME area, about smack dab along the middle of Kezar (west side). I'll be taking my Lure 11.5 with me. Looking for some advice on fishing Kezar and if there's any other good spots in the area? I see a Horseshoe Pond and Farrington Pond on the map. Also Kezar River which looks like it's right in the center of Lovell. I found a thread from 2015 that had some really good advice and the overall opinion seemed to be that the North Bay was not the best area, at least for bass. Just curious if that is the same or has changed. I'm used to fishing small, dirty bodies of water in thick grass for LM so I'm going to be out of my element for sure. I do have a dropshot tied on already though so hopefully that comes in handy. I'm also not sure if I'm going to have electronics yet or not. I'm going to do my best to mount the transducer and everything tomorrow, but we leave Saturday so it's going to be tight. I'm not very experienced with that stuff. Appreciate any help!
  2. walked along the Androscoggin River in Lewiston yesterday. about time to get out there and catch some smallies. if you have never fished this river and would like some info hit me up. this river has amazing numbers and size and there are times i will be the only person out there.
  3. Hey fellow fishermen and fisherladies, Got a question for you more experienced fisherman. I need to give a little pond description before I ask it though. -130 acres in size, max depth 15 feet -10'x10' MOVING giant reed mats (wind pushes them everywhere) when altogether due to wind covers an acre easily! -extremely stained water, brown almost. In a float tube you cannot see your feet! -weeds are pretty much everywhere some places right up to the surface -alewives do come up in there (which is why I believe they are so big!) In the dead of summer i use to struggle finding bass. This last summer I found a top water lure that works. I have my spots where I know there to be decent fish but with the floatillas moving around by the hour fish in there rarely stay in one spot (so I think). As for subsurface lures the ONLY thing I can get them to hit is chartruese tipped green colored worms texas rigged with no weight. It drives me nuts because the fishing technique with these is literally to cast at a grass mat, let it sits for like x amount of minutes and then just watch your line drag side ways. I DESPISE fishing this way (albeit it semi-effective). It is boring as all hell and every once in a while a fish gets the hook swallowed and I am all catch and release so I hate it. If I have any tension on the fishing line the fish will not hit the lure (trust me, I know you are thinking I am just not setting the hook soon enough yada yada). So the question becomes do you guys have any advise on a lure or on a fishing method that might work in this pond? Has anyone come across a shallow stained pond with tons of weeds (in a colder climate, Florida doesn't always understand Maine bass). and found something successful. I have tried jigs, they legit fall into about 3 feet of grown up weeds under water and don't work. I have tried spinner baits of all colors, I have tried cranks and jerks but they get weeds unless super shallow divers in which case nothing hits. I have tried swimbaits with hooks buried and nothing (or they get in weeds). I am open to any suggestions of any kind. This pond has some GIANT bass in it, I spent 2 hours one morning in the summer hauling in 22 fish all above 3.5 pounds, biggest being 5.4 and I know there are bigger ones in there but I don't think I am offering them what they truly want. The pond does have a population of black crappie, pickerel, perch and carp. Although besides the carp I haven't seen/caught any of them more then twice in 4 years! Thank you ahead of time and sorry for the long winded post. With giving fishing advice for a pond there is never enough information and even then unless you've fished it, it is really hard to gauge as no two ponds are the same.
  4. Looking to go vacation in Maine around July, 4th and I want to stay somewhere with some good shore fishing for some large or small mouth bass. Are there any lakes or ponds that have good shore fishing access or trails? thanks!
  5. Has anyone taken advantage of the early ice here in Maine to catch some bass through the hardwater? Where at?
  6. The water here in Maine is very clear. I normally fish 8lb fluoro on 6'6" or 7' medium rods. I throw lots of crank baits and plastics for smallmouth. Recently, I've been getting into some big largemouth on texas rigged craws and 1/4 oz jigs. The big fish keep breaking me off. In open water they go under the boat and rub the line against the boat. In tight cover they rub on a tree or dock post and break me off. If I tighten down my drag and horse them, they break me off. Any suggestions? Should I go to braid with a fluoro leader? Can I stick with spinning gear? Thoughts?

Close to 2Lb's but not quite there. Spent more time out of the water than in!
  8. Does anyone who has been to Maine or lives in Maine know what the best kind of lures to use there are? I'm going there this weekend and I'm not sure what to use or if I should go get a new one, so please help me out!
  9. Any one finding any bass that are starting the fall feeding pattern? Southern Maine and Southern NH just not happening for me.
  10. I recently purchased a Lowrance elite 7 HDI unit and am now looking to get a lake map chip for it. I have found that their are many choices and i would like to know which maps have worked the best in units similar to mine, and more importantly which has the most detailed maps and largest selection of maps for the lakes i fish here in southern and central Maine. Thanks again for all the help!
  11. I've been fishing since a kid with my father (mostly saltwater) and as i got older i began becoming more and more obsessed with fishing. I mainly fish freshwater these days and what i love most about fishing is that there are no limitations to what can be done and expiramented with. as a kid i'd use live bait and never really used lures, my dad didn't. he was more of a fish for dinner guy. when i began going off on my own and digging a little deeper i found that i like fishing lures more. I enjoy swapping blades on my spinner baits and trimming skirts or sharpening hooks. I like the challenge, trying to catch fish in a way that's not simply dangling a live worm or minno infront of a hungry fish. I like using artificial baits to even the playing field a little bit, really work for the bite. I know live bait is all that will work in some stuations but i just felt like sharing my prefrence haha but theres a lil about me. btw my names brandon.
  12. I was wondering if anybody has been to Toddy Pond before and has any ideas on how to fish it?
  13. I'm going to be fishing Sebago Lake in Maine this weekend and was wondering if anyone had some good insight on how to fish this lake effectively. I will be in a boat. Weather is suppose to be very hot and sunny. Anyone willing to give up any honey holes locations? Thanks.
