  1. Well, something came along that was to tough to pass up. Already have two Bonafide fishing kayaks (SS127 and SS107) decently equipped and those have been great, but wanted a boat to enjoy as well. Been a lurker here for a long time. So much content, advice, and fantastic conversation from all those dedicated to this activity can't thank the community enough. So with that...🫠 Picked up a 2018 1875 Lund Pro-V Bass. It's in fantastic condition overall, and had some reasonable goodies on it. Who knows, maybe that seller is on here and he will recognize as I describe. Picked up from a great dealer locally. Special shout out to @A-Jay, while I've been a Lund fan for a long time (father had a 16' over the years), I always liked AJ's layout and selection of the bench vs. XS and the size of the boat is just perfect for an all around experience. Regrettably, it didn't have the slide out tackle storage (I guess 2018 is when Lund started not offering it because of complaints in that solution), still has the empty space though. I'm also sure there was studies on whether XS or bench was being ordered which lead them to only offering an XS config. I prefer the bench as it'll be my wife and I 98% of the time on the water anyway. If I had to buy new, I'd not be able to do it, so this worked out great. Obligatory equipment rundown Black 1875 with bunk custom (single axle). Merc Verado 200 4STK Ultrex 80 24v. A Lowrance 3-in-1 is mounted on it tied to the bow graph. 1 bow Lowrance 9 HDS Live, 1 console Lowrance 9 HDS Live (notable the split of vendors). All networked. Oddly, NMEA 200 was left out of the boat. Likely to add so I can put the GPS puck on the back closer to transducer and get waypoint sync working (why does Lowrance not support ethernet or wireless is beyond me....) and stage me for motor integration and ghost. I'm a Lowrance guy, so I'll give the Ultrex a shot for now (getting the iPilot remote to get waypoint and trail working). I'd prefer integrated vendor, but I'd have to get a Ghost or MotorGuide. Likely a next year purchase, already have batteries purchased for a 36v down the road. ActiveTarget with single transducer on the trolling motor (Hey, why don't I ever see any stories on FFS? /s 😏) 2 x 125Ah Ionics for the trolling. < 10 cycles on them so far, so that's awesome. 1 x 100Ah Ionic for electronics, and 1 lead acid for crank/house. 17 cycles on the lithium (again, bonus). I've already removed the lead acid and wired to the lithium for house/electronic/crank combo. It's 900 CCA equivalent and Merc supports it (on the list for this motor). 4 bank Noku Gen Pro (4x10). Additions I might make over next year or so is swap the Ultrex for a 36v Ghost and put a 12" HDS Live on the bow (probably pick up a beatdown pole as well) and move the exiting 9" as a double on the console. Not sure I need the jump to HDS Pro and if the HD really buys enough for me to switch. Also want to do some rewiring of electric. While the gauge is in spec, I'd rather make it more robust and move the electronic connections using Blue Sea fuse panels at mid-ship instead. Well, that is enough for now. See some of you out there.
  2. I have a Lowrance Elite FS and I have a ticking sound coming from the unit itself not the transducer
  3. Stupid question, what are the differences here between these two fish finders? Lowrance Elite FS 9 ( https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lowrance_Elite_FS_9_Fishfinders/descpage-LTFC.html ) Lowrance Elite FS 9 Active Target ( https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lowrance_Elite_FS_9_ActiveTarget_Live_Fishfinders/descpage-LTFAT9.html )
  4. I'm looking to purchase a fish finder for my Autopilot 120 kayak, but I am very new to the electronics portion of fishing. My in-laws will be giving me a gift card to Cabela's, thus I limited my searching to that retailer. Requirements: 7-9" screen - leaning towards a 9" screen. Ability to add a second transducer for Live scope/imaging/etc < insert whatever the brand calls it > Price can't be insane, ideally < $1500 with transducer for side/down scan. The options I found below are on sale, which helps, as I still need more camping gear. Mostly targeting Bass in NY (finger lakes / Lake Erie). So far I found two options: Lowrance HDS LIVE 9 Fish Finder/Chartplotter with transducer $999 https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/lowrance-hds-live-9-fish-finderchartplotter Garmin ECHOMAP UHD 94sv Fish Finder/Chartplotter Combo - Transducer $699 https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/garmin-echomap-uhd-94sv-fish-finderchartplotter-combo My only experience was playing with the Garmin unit at a Bassmaster Elite Series event. I don't need the Live scope/imaging/etc this year, I need to learn the side/down scan first IMO. Thoughts? -Frank
  5. I am fishing my first tournament this weekend and will be using my Lowrance Hook 2 5X Split Shot GPS fish finder for the first time as well. I've done some research in preparation and have coordinates of certain areas of the lake that I will prioritize. I would like to save these spots as waypoints that I can then navigate to on Tournament day but my problem is as follows: The coordinates I have are in this format: 41°24'12.2"N 2°10'26.5"E My Lowrance Fishfinder seems to use this format: 41 24.2028, 2 10.4418 I checked on Google Maps and both of the coordinates above are exactly the same - they are just in two different formats. Does anyone know how to convert the first waypoint format into the other ? Please let me know if there is some type of coordinate format converter website that does this or let me know if I can provide more information here if it's not clear. Thank you so much ! Joe P.S. I called Lowrance Technical Support and they told me I can only drop a waypoint on the water but when I got off the phone with them I was playing around with my fishfinder in my home and I was able to create a waypoint for my house AND I am able to edit the coordinates and then save it. I just need to know how to convert the coordinate format I have (41°24'12.2"N 2°10'26.5"E) into the coordinate format that Lowrance seems to use (41 24.2028, 2 10.4418)
  6. I'm thinking about putting my transducer on my trolling motor for deep water fishing and finding that underwater cover. I fish a lot in small marsh channels running aground with my trolling motor. I'm thinking of mounting it on my trolling motor but spinning it to the top of the trolling motor when I go shallow. Does anyone suggest doing that? Otherwise, talk me out of it.
  7. Hello, I've been trying to answer this question on the Hook2 via google, but I am not have much luck. Does the Hook2 have the ability to create contour maps? From what I can tell it is compatible with SonarChart Live, which requires an active Navionics subscription. However, the TI and HDS appear to use Genesis Live maps, which appear to be created without a Navionics. Genesis live is not available on the Hook2, correct? Hummingbird allows mapping for free on their similar Helix model. I have not need for the Navionics subscription, but want the ability to create my own contours. Thanks, Rhett
  8. Hi all! Got a new Nitro bass boat and now looking to replace the old fish finder. Been doing some research but thought I would get other's opinions. Anyone have their best recommendations for a fish finder around $1000 and why? Thanks in advanced for your input!
  9. When I go to https://fishfindersadvisor.com/hook2-5x-splitshot/ they show a a screen shot of the Hook2 5x Splitshot and the range on the right shows Depth 0 - 40 in increments of 5 feet. My unit only shows The O and the 40 no increments are shown. If you use this unit do you see the depth in increments on the right side of the screen or just the top and bottom depth?
  10. This is gonna be a lot, but i appreciate any advise/help that is given. Originally on my boat i had a Lowrance HDS 7 Gen 2 touch at the console, and at the front i didn't have anything. Well, Cabelas/BPS recently had a sale on 9" Elite Ti units that came with a Totalscan transducer, and a navionics chip. So i picked one up and took my boat to the shop to get it installed. So i got it back yesterday, and i'm having some issues. I put the new Elite 9 Ti on the bow, and its hooked up to an HDI transducer at the trolling motor. I left the HDS 7 Gen 2 where it was (Console), and got him to put the Totalscan transducer at the back of the boat. The total scan is hooked up directly to the HDS. I also got him to connect both units via NMEA 2000 Network cable. Now to the issues/questions, 1. When i go to sonar, or structure on the HDS it doesn't register the depth and the sonar screen and the structure screen are blank. I went to Settings>Sonar>Installation and tried to set the transducer to Totalscan but Totalscan isn's in the list. I thought this may be due to connection issue with the cable, but then i saw where it was registering the water temp so the transducer is fine and is connected fine. Any ideas here? 2. Is there a way to view Structure Scan from the Totalscan transducer on the Elite Ti? The Totalscan transducer isn't directly connected to the Elite Ti, but that is why i got the network. I thought it would make everything connect. Anybody know if this is possible? 3. Last question, The Elite 9 Ti came with a navionics chip (Navionics US/CAN+). I put it in my HDS because that's where i will be using it mostly. But i saw online last night that you would only need 1 chip for both units. Is this true? If so how do i do this? i tried changing the source on my Elite 9 Ti to Navionics, but it didn't work. (Chip is in HDS) I know this is alot, but i'm kinda lost right now and would love some advise. I paid a good chunk for the depth finder + Install. I would hate to have to spend more. Thanks to all who reply. I really appreciate it!
  11. I just purchased the Lowrance HDS gen 3 with the 7" screen it has the 3d structure scan this past summer for my bass boat. I'm still amazed at what I was missing out on utilizing only 2d sonar and not able to interpret that thing without a chart. I still feel like I haven't learned about how to get the best picture. My question is how can I get the very best picture of whats on the structure scan (side scan), down scan, and 2d? What khZ should each of the 3 sonar panels be in for instance 2d in high chirp, and down scan on 800khZ? How far should I be scanning out to the sides with the structure scan (side scan)? This defaults to 455khZ on side scan (I called lowrance they said it was normal because of the transducer having 3d capabilities). I think I can change down scan between 800 and 455khZ I have to look back to be certain. I like running 4 screens at once the 4th being my chart screen or I could give or take 2d at times. I generally bass fish in rivers and creeks depth mostly being at 15 feet at times in stained water, however I have seen it 30 to 40 feet. My transducers are the SS3d and the 83/200 skimmer transducer with the structure scan box.
  12. I want to save for my first nice graph and I want to get out of my comfort zone and learn to fish offshore. Which unit would get me more for my money and what’s the difference between the two? Also is a 9” graph a big enough work space for being effective offshore? Thanks!
  13. Hello everybody! I currently am deciding between two graphs they are the new lowrance TI 7 or hds 7 and I want to know what you guys would pick for some better thinking, at this point I'm more or less going to get the ti7 because of its newer technology and it comes with a slimmer trannducer (more or less the structure scan ducer) the hds 7 is $100 more and if I were to get that I would have to buy structure Scan ducer seperatly ($300 ducer) but it comes with a lake card please leave honest and helpful feedback -Conner
  14. Hi everyone. I just installed my Minn Kota Ultrex today and I have one major question. Where do I mount the heading sensor? The heading sensor allows the motor to do everything gps related. I just don't know where to mount it. It says in the manual that you cannot mount it near metal or magnetic object. Can you mount the sensor next to a lowrance carbon I have up on the bow? I didn't know if that would cause any interference. The spot next to the carbon on the bow would be the best spot, but I don't want the sensor to be less effective because it's next to a fish finder. Any suggestions?
  15. I recently got a 2017 bass tracker 175 which comes with the basic Lowrance hook 4x mounted on the dash area. Im looking to replace it more than likely with the Lowrance hook2 7x but im not sure how to go about mounting it. Anybody have a similar units mounted on their boat in that spot? Or any suggestions on how I could mount it in the same spot as the unit thats on there now? Thanks!
  16. Good evening, I am looking for advice on putting electronics on my bass tracker to fish tournaments this year. I am interested in the helix 7s and want one at the wheel and one on the bow. I want to be able to auto chart live and connect to the front unit so i can see what i charted. I want side imaging at the wheel but do i need side imaging at the bow? What is your reccommendation for make model size and capabilities for 2 units for someone who would like to save some money? Thank you for all of your wisdom
  17. So im not really looking to buy one yet, just starting some research. I was wondering what everyone thought about these two units. I will be buying the 5 inch version, but I wanted to know what the difference between the two units (Lowrance Elite and Hummingbird helix) are and which is more user friendly?
  18. So in my path to becoming a better angler (specifically from a boat now) I am learning new things every day. My most forefront hurdle is mastering electronics. Specifically my Hook4x Lowrance, Ive told myself I will not upgrade to a bigger/better unit until I thoroughly understand and use this one to its max potential. I am comfortable with all the pages and settings etc although memorizing which each setting does is still hit or miss. Im currently watching several videos on youtube that talk about these units etc and reading several articles from around the web. My question to you more experienced fishermen/women is what do you see in this image below? I will write what I think below the image and I would like to compare to what the majority of you see. Any other really good articles or videos you recommend don't be afraid to post, I'm basically still in my "sponge" phase trying to soak up everything I can. This image is taken from my Hook 4x lowrance chirp with downscan (blue) on Lewisville lake Texas. At first I thought I was looking at a lot of fish, maybe bait fish. I was noticing lots of surface action with some kind of small forage type fish, not shad boils, perhaps some breed of shad that were plopping the top eating insects or what have you. But then I realized that the Downscan image would not show fish as arches, so what look like huge fish arches in the downscan (blue) image must be some sort of structure. I thought maybe something hard, but the lack of solid yellow told me that its something softer and probably organic? I would have to guess some sort of crushed tree with branches laying down. (i don't really believe that myself as i dropped a jig down there to try and "feel" it, but I actually could not come up with anything) So I leave it to the pros! comment away! Thank you in advance. P.s. do you see any "game fish" at all?
  19. I've done all this and I'm still getting noise when I run the motor: Common ground from starting battery to negative post on 24v battery Lowrance is wired directly to starting battery. Clamp on ferrite chokes on all wires. Transducer mounted on transom, with wire running down driver side, and tm power wires are running down passenger side. 2 things I haven't tried: using a standalone battery for the depth finder, and disconnecting the common ground and on board charger. Any suggestions?
  20. I have an Elite 9ti and was fishing about 6 feet of water and anchored, and soon as the boat would stop, side imaging would just make everything on the screen look like streaks. I assume that's normal since it's continuously pinging the same thing, but how do you see fish and shad move in? We rely heavily on this feature when wiper fishing, and it works perfectly when moving, even very slightly.
  21. Hey all, New poster here - hope this is the right place to post. I have a 2 - Lowrance HDS 7 in my boat. I am losing the depth display when in rough water. It used to act up at speed as well. I have swapped them around so I'm fairly positive it's in the transducer. Any ideas?
  22. I need to upgrade the fishfinders on my boat. I have been looking at the lowrance hds gen 2 touch and the humminbird helix g2n. I am willing to spend around $1600. Has anyone had any experiances with either the humminbird helix g2n or the hds gen 2? What one should I buy? Are there any different fishfinders you recommend? Thanks.
