  1. Everyone and there brother has been wondering about the new G Loomis rods. I went against my natural tendency and bought one shortly after they became available on Tackle Warehouse. This is my first ever G Loomis that I have bought. Since then I have fished with it twice on the lake using it most of the time. The rod I am reviewing is the 894c 7'5" heavy jig rod, rated for 5/16oz-3/4oz I bought this rod to primarily be my jig rod. I have been on the search to find one that fit my needs perfectly and trust me it has been quite a battle. This rod fits my needs absolutely perfectly so far. Living on the Coosa river chain there is no idea what I might be throwing jig wise. One minute I will be skipping a 3/8oz jig under docks and trees, the next I will be throwing a 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz to deep points and humps. I have been looking for a rod that can do all of this perfectly. So I went and did all of these things with this rod and it did it all exactly how I wanted it to. It has enough tip where you can feel those lighter jigs perfectly on the bottom but also enough power to rip fish out of cover. The sensitivity is what I would expect out of a $250 dollar rod. I had no problem picking up on the soft bites from the lethargic fish. I will admit that I am weird and like to skip docks with a 7'3" to 7'6" rod. Honestly that's the length I prefer in every technique except jerk bait fishing. The 7'5 is an awesome length and provides for awesome leverage and long casts. Durability wise I can't speak on much because I have not had it very long but it seems to be well made and had no problem boat flipping 3 1/2 pounders. Perhaps my favorite part was how well balanced the rod was. I but a shimano 200i on it and it was balance perfectly. It isn't the lightest rod I have ever felt but it is definitely not tip heavy. Compared to other rods however it is very light. So far I am very impressed with my first Loomis and think that the 893 will be my next purchase. I prefer to stay in the 150-200 dollar range for rods and from what I can see so far this is one of the best if not the best I have used in this price range. We will see how this holds up for the next month or so. If it does it will have one me over and I will purchase a few more. Tight Lines, Josh
  2. I've started kayak fishing (love it) and with that goes the minimizing of gear. I'm fishing in NC (Falls Lake /Beaver Dam /Jordan)- water isn't clear- especially with all the rain we've had. Right now I've thinking: 1. For CBs, Traps, SquareB, Jerks(?)--- Loomis GLX 845C- 7' MH Mod rod with a Curado 200 (6.3:1) and 16# Sniper FC 2. For spinners, chatterbaits--- Kistler Mag2- 6'8" light MH, Fast Mod with a Curado 70 (8.2:1) and 30# braid with a FC leader 3. For Drop, Ned--- Avid X- 6'9" MLXF with a Symetre and 10# braid with a FC leader Not sure what to do about topwater (if and when). I could swap the Curado 70 with a Curado 200 (7.1:1) and use the 70 for top (MXF rod), but was trying to keep the rod count to 3 (or 2!). I've used all three a couple of time and seems good. I'm missing a carolina rig/jig/worm rod though. OR am I overthinking?
  3. Hey guys, I may get a G. Loomis E6X, if yall could give me some honest opinios/ reviews on it it would help a ton, Thanks
  4. I have a 6'6" MH for general use but I feel like it's a little too short for some situations (I'm 6'4" tall)... So I'm pretty set on a Loomis 853C (7"1' MH XF) for general use (tx rigs, soft jerkbaits, smaller jigs), but I have to decide between the new GLX and the NRX. Or is the 893 better for these techniques...? I'd also like a rod that I can use for carolina rigs (usually in 10-25 ft) and possibly heavier tx rigs, jigs, and small swimbaits as well. Would it be a little redundant to get an 874 (7'3" MH F) alongside an 853? Or I could get the 893 for a couple more inches in length, but I'm not sure if an XF tip is good for carolina rigs? Please share your thoughts. Also for this one I won't use it as often, so I might get an E6X or IMX. As far as reels go, I think I want an Aldebaran for the 853 so I can have the lightest set up possible since that will be my most used rod. I have an Aldebaran in 6.5:1 but I'll probably sell it and get a 7.4:1 for those applications. For the c-rig rod, I'll probably get a Lew's Tournament Lite G or something like that in a 7:1 ratio. I should point out, I already have a 7'9" XH rod for the real heavy stuff so that's covered. Also I'm going to continue to use my 6'6" MH for close up situations because it's more maneuverable.
  5. Okay so I have a new setup down packed for what I want , I can't afford 10 different poles for all different things so I'm getting the G Loomis E6X casting rod, 7'1 medium heavy, or heavy fast action.. For an all around setup... The reel is a Shimano Ctitica 7,2:1 left retrieve. I am going to put 50lb braid on it , because I love frogging , but this is going to be my only rod and reel bait casting setup... So here's the question , if I wanted to use like a deep diving crankbait or Texas rig up some stuff, like something that doesn't need 50lb braid, would putting on like a 15lb flouro leader be okay for deep diving crankbaits and Texas rigs and stuff like that? The braid is Suffix 832 50 lb low vi green.. And I think the flouro will be Seagur invisex... Thank you in the mean time !!!
  6. So I got a rod a while back. It's a TFO G. Loomis Tactical Series spinning rod (6' 9" med.) I like the rod a lot, but I was just wondering if anyone else have used them. I saw some reviews on TW of people comparing them to high end Loomis rods like the GLX and NRX (I think are ridiculously priced). I don't know if this is true or not, but for $150 would anything else match the sensitivity of these, or would there be a better offering at 150? I'm kind of thinking of trying one of the casting rods for plastics. I'm basically wondering if anyone else has used them or tried them, etc. So please give me some feedback. Thanks
