  1. Aloha, gang: This is a long shot, but if there’s any anglers that are familiar with Opossum Lake in Cumberland County on here that have solid knowledge of the lake (particularly anyone who fishes it by boat), I’d love to hear from you. After 30 years in Massachusetts, I moved back to the area a few years ago and if I’m not out in tour, I’m at Opossum Lake at least 3-4 times a week from March til it freezes over. I’m aware it’s still a bit of an immature lake since its drain/filling but I do know as of a year or two ago the F&G now consider it a Trophy Bass/Muskie lake. My question is this: Where the hell do those fish go in winter? For the life of me (other than one very big and very unintentionally-caught Muskie in Dec ‘20) I cannot locate them. I’m fishing from shore and 9 months of the year my half-dozen spots will usually produce something. Opossum isn’t particularly deep but with that said, I’m beginning to wonder if the bass move into the middle (deepest) section of the lake which is way outta my casting distance from shore. I’m getting the seasonal movement patterns of Opossum down pretty acutely after a few years after fishing it so thoroughly but winter bass activity is a code I’ve yet to crack there. any help would be greatly appreciated - even (or especially if) I find out I’m wasting my time until about March …
  2. Hi y’all, My family and I just moved down to Georgia and we’ve finally really settled down! We’ve fished before, but we aren’t really experienced my best is probably only around 3 pounds for largemouth. I live in Oglethorpe County and was hoping someone might know some good places to fish nearby? I’ve heard about the Oconee River and Lake Hartwell but lake Hartwell is a little far and we don’t have boats. Any sort of help or advice would be much appreciated, excited to be here!
  3. Midwest Illinois fisherman here interested in buying a Megabass Magdraft. I have a lot of confidence in buying, trying and fishing new baits but always struggle with being indecisive about what color to buy. I mostly kayak fish lakes with lots of vegetation, rocky bottoms and plenty of shiners, minnows, crappie, sunfish and bluegill as forage for largemouth bass. Considering buying both 6 and 8” options I would appreciate some suggestions for choosing color.
  4. I'm new to bass resource! The most recent post about bass fishing in the area of south Atlanta was in 2012 when I searched. I was curious if there were any members that have any news on local ponds, lakes and even rivers. I live in the Fayetteville and Fairburn area and do a good bit of fishing. Been fishing all my life but have just taken up bass fishing this past year and am enjoying it! Thank you all for all your post and a huge shoutout to Glenn because his videos have helped me out the most in my transition to bass fishing. If anyone wants to fish ponds or lakes in and around south Atlanta, definitely let me know I would love to trade stories and locations with members, I've fished from Lake Peachtree, Kedron, Horton, McIntosh in Fayette County to Sweetwater creek, Glen Emerald and Piedmont park in Atlanta to some hidden lakes in South Fulton and Clayton. Anyone know of a couple of ponds in Fayette County? I bank fish 2-3 days a week and fish on a boat maybe 3 times a month
  5. Hey All, I am looking for new lakes or ponds to fish at. I live in the bay area, specifically Union City, and willing to drive 1hr to 1hr30. I have been to quarry lakes, chabot, Shinn ponds, don castro, and other small ponds in SJ. Also any advice on any places you can recommend would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  6. Hello all! I am new to the forum and have many questions. We recently moved to Apex, NC, which is outside of Raleigh. I am getting into bass fishing again and would like to know if anyone here has any recommendations of places to fish. I do not currently have a boat so I will be restricted to the bank. Thanks!
  7. This week I plan on visiting my local Bass Pro Shops to do some shopping for lures but I do not know what to purchase so far I have the Salty Super Fluke and the Ribbit Frog in watermelon color. We are new to the Georgia fishing lakes not sure what fish bites what so I am asking everyone here. I tried the Super Fluke few times last week and this early morning when I took my father to Lake Blackshear and fished off the dock since we do not own a boat. Thank you for your time. - Jamie
  8. So I’m up in Northeast Ohio while I’m home for spring break and I’m having trouble fishing some of the local ponds. Everything is just starting to thaw and the pond I fish is just about half thawed/half ice. I have to fish from the bank and I usually throw a red eye shad lipless crankbait as a search bait but it seems that even my search bait is inefficient. I was out for 2 hours today in the cold and windy snow and not even so much as a bite. I switched to using a ned rig thinking they might prefer a slower presentation but no luck. I also threw a green pumpkin chatter bait for a while and no luck. I was essentially casting to the ice then reeling in and letting my lure drop from the edge of the ice to the bottom where I expect them to be. Planning on going out later this week, can anyone offer any tactics or better lure suggestions so I can catch my first winter bass? If any of you are familiar, I’m fishing the Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve. It’s got pretty clear water and the shore is shallow for about 5 feet and then has a steep drop off, deep enough that I can’t see the bottom.
  9. So I’m a hourish away from LBL and I don’t have a boat so I’m stuck at the shore. I was reading online that there are many interior ponds. I spent a little over an hour on google with no luck. I called the visitor center and they told me to go to their website but their website didn’t help because under the fishing fact sheet 2018 it doesn’t give me that actual locations to the interior ponds. If anyone knows any places besides golden pond please let me know.
  10. Any good lakes to take my new kayak out onto in western pa?
  11. I'm going fishing in the morning with my girlfriend. I was wondering if anyone in or has fished in the Rapides Parish area of Louisiana, what are some good lakes around to bank fish for bass? On my profile I listed Rodemacher Lake (Cleco Lake) as my favorite only because I caught my most recent bass there. Any advice on the best techniques to use from the bank would be greatly appreciated as well.

Any recommendations would be welcome thanks! Trying to keep it within say a 30-40 min drive from Woodbury, closer the better. Thank you. Lew
  19. Hello Everyone, I started fishing last season and have been surfcasting pretty much exclusively. I am now trying my hand at lakes for anything eatable, i.e Bass, trout, cat. Since I've started fishing my luck has been horrible to say the least. I just picked up some lures, everything else I've tried have never produced, which were chicken livers, chicken, several blood baits, dough baits, hotdogs, etc. The lures I picked up are a rapala BXs-12 carp a brook trout in color, a rapala countdown also brook trout colored and a sierra brook trout colored spoon. The people I know that have been catching Bass at santa fe Dam have been using these. Are there any other lure recommendations you could point out? Sorry, I'm a complete bass newb. Thanks in advance
  20. Does anyone in the PNW know some good locations near Tacoma for kayak bass fishing?
  21. Greetings everyone, I'm new to this forum and fairly new to bass fishing. If you all can give me a hand, I'm looking for fishing spots in the Broward County area. I've gone to the Silver Lakes Rotary Park and only been able to catch two small bass there. Also, what color baits do you all suggest for these areas? Thank you,
  22. Hey guys, Im going to try a good shore fishing lake. Lake Twitty in Monroe, Nc. A buddy recommend it. Where should I fish, or look for to find bass? What lures should I use? Thanks.
  23. Been fishing the same lakes for a while. Can anyone recommend good lakes for bass or other fish in southwestern lower MI or da western UP? Thanks
  24. I have been looking at the daiwa spinmatic ultralight rods in either 6 or 6 1/2 foot 2 piece. I'll use it mainly for trout in rivers and streams, and panfish or trout in ponds every once in a while. Right now a have a 5 foot shimano that can barely get my spinner across a 10 foot wide stream, so I want a longer rod, which I can also use in lakes, ponds, or larger rivers. are these rods any good, which length should I get, or is there a better rod for a comparable price?
  25. Hello fellow fisherman. I'm mike and i'm new to the form. I've been in Jacksonville Florida for about 4 years now and i'm starting to get back into fishing. I prefer bass and catfish. I've just started fishing in jax in may and haven't had any luck lately. I've fished hanna park and caught 2 nice mullet and a big blue crab but didn't get a single bite from bass. I've also been fishing the fish management area to the past 2 weeks off of university and st. Augustine rd but didn't have any luck there either. If anybody from jax interested in doing some fishing man just let me know i'm all in. Also if you know any good spots around town pleas share i'm willing to travel.
