  1. This spring break I will be going to lake anna for a few nights march 28th through the 31st. I will be staying on the private side on dyke three. I have gone before but not this time of year. What lures work best and are the bass going to be post spawn since it’ll be on the warm side. I will have my boat so I can go to different places on the lake any recommendations? Also my buddy is coming and he is bringing his boat if we did a little friendly tournament and put the fish in the live well for a few hours and let them go at the end would this effect the fish? if they are post/ pre/ or during the spawn. Thanks
  2. I have recently bought a 10ft plastic boat. I got it for extremely cheap and when I got home I discovered duct tape on the front. The hole is very small and seems possible to fix but I have no experience in this topic. I attached a photo of the damage. What would be my best bet in fixing this if it’s possible. I have some marine hoop laying around and have also gotten advice to bondo it.. would either of these work or is there something else to try? Any help would be appreciated, thanks
  3. I have a plastic boat that has a fairly small hole in the hull. I’ve heard that epoxy is a good idea with plastic kayaks but on the boat, I only have access to one side of the hole. I can see the hole from the outside, but on the inside of the boat there’s an extra plastic mold that completely blocks you from seeing the hole. Is an epoxy still possible if I can’t get to both sides? If it’s not, what are my best options here? Any advice would be helpful.
  4. I don’t know if any one else has the problem I do I am good at bank fishing and shallow fishing i live in Huntington Texas about ten miles from lake Sam Rayburn one of the biggest lakes in Texas but i fish it all the time how ever I don’t really know how to fish in deep water and target big fish also there is only large mouth in the lake so if anyone has any info on what baits I could use and what I need to do to successfully fish deep.
  5. I have been struggling on Lake Lanier. I need some tips, tricks, and good lures. Thanks!
  6. Hey all! So me and my girlfriend have been wanting to fish Smith Mountain lake for fall but we’ve never been there before. We are going to be kayak fishing and we need help on where to launch, where some good spots are, and what to use! We are really excited and can’t wait to get on the water! Thanks !
  7. Hello! This is my first post on the forums so bear with me. I have been trying to get into bass fishing, but haven't had much success (I have only been bass fishing once so that's probably why but anyways). I'm pretty sure that the spawn has passed on my local lakes here in SoCal (Casitas, Cachuma, Piru, Castaic, Pyramid). I've heard that swim jigs are good to catch post-spawn to early summer bass. My question is: What are the best colors, techniques, gear, line, etc? Really, any tips to catch bass during this time period would help a lot. Also, I have a kayak but I won't be able to get it out onto the water until summer at the earliest, so I'm limited to the shore for now. Thanks for any advice!
  8. Anyone have any experience or tips fishing here?
  9. I wanted to start a discussion for topwater baits everyone has had success with hunting the bronzebacks. Last weekend I hooked up on a few in East TN using a 3in topwater popper, and a few with a size 90 whopper plopper, but I'm curious as to what else might be a good topwater presentations? I've had some people recommend a jerkbait and one buddy even recommended wacky rigging a senko and dragging it on the top/a few inches down, but I haven't had time to try it out. I've also seen this "double plopper" A-rig looking buzz bait deal, and am very intrigued to hear if anyone has had success with it (at $18 a piece I didn't want to dive in if it's just a bunk bait). Lend me your knowledge, fellow smallie smackers!
  10. Is there a rod size/ action/ power that would work well for both trout and crappie? I mostly fish for bass and would like to add just one rod that could be used for crappie and trout- is that possible? Price would be under $100 for rod and reel. I would be fishing mostly in ponds but would want to try streams for trout. Thanks guys!
  11. Recently i went to a small pond in the rocky mountains and there was an abundance of small bluegill in the pond. I contacted the HOA where the pond was located and they told me its never been stocked. What are the chances that there are bass or any other species beside bluegill in the pond?
  12. Hi, I live in Southern Mississippi. My aunt recently moved into a house with a medium sized lake in her backyard.sometimes I fish there. It's a bit muddy, but you can see the bottom until about 10 feet out.Its about 18 feet at it's deepest. There's lot of weeds and fine grass on the bottom. There are lots of downed trees and branches. It's full of bluegill and Largemouth bass. Any suggestions for lures I should use there?
  13. I have been bass fishing for a few years now and am wanting to start doing tournaments. I'm looking for a boater in the nearby area that needs a backseater. I am willing to drive and pay for gas/fees.
  14. Hello everyone, I am new member here from an Island called Mauritius. I love fishing a lot. I haven't catch anything big yet but I keep on trying. I need to upgrade my fishing gears but currently cannot afford if anyone has any tips on how to catch bigger bass please let me know. If anyone has old gears that they are not using, I would really appreciate it. This fishing is so addicting...I keep thinking of it 24/7 I even have dreams about it.
  15. I am going to have my son going to a Boy Scout camp this summer and it is on lake merriweather in VA. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about it that would help us with catching some fish there. Any tips, baits or Info would be much appreciated, thanks. P.S. I looked for anything I could find in the forums but couldn’t find anything, sorry if this is a repeat I am new to this.
  16. Any good lakes to take my new kayak out onto in western pa?
  17. Hello, As we begin to enter the fall months, I know bass fishing can be hit or miss depending on where you're fishing in your lake and where the bait fish are located in your lake. I live in New York and right now the temperatures are finally starting to drop which generally means that the bait fish will move shallow into the backs of creeks over the next couple weeks and the bass will follow. The lake I have been fishing is about 70 feet deep but very small around. This lake also doesn't have any creeks that run into it which leads me to believe that perhaps it is spring fed from beneath the lake. Unfortunately, I've tried searching for videos, articles, or forum threads that pertain to my question without any luck. My question is, since I do not have any creeks that feed into this lake, will the bait fish still go shallow towards the shore now that the fall season is beginning? Where should I be fishing, should I go deep or cast along drop offs? Should I try going shallow along the banks or near fallen structure? I've seen some huge schools of small bait fish in shallow water a couple weeks ago but that was only once. Knowing where these bait fish are located and where they will go as the water continues to cool down will help me out tremendously. Thank you for your time! Sincerely, Chris
  18. Hey guys, my family owns a cottage on a small lake. The dam on the lake broke during hurricane sandy, but now that it is filled in again with a new dam, I'd like to put some cover in to help promote fish growth and spawning success and so on... you get it. I know that the time to do it would have been when it was high and dry, but I couldn't find a time to do it. I'm Thinking of making some concrete and PVC "xmas trees" and sinking them in various places, but I'd like some input as to where those places should be. Also, I've thought about putting down some sort of pea gravel in places... would this make a good spawning spot? Any suggestions are welcome, Thanks! I've included two pictures below.. one of the lake with no water and one with it full, although the name is blanked out... for obvious reasons
  19. So I'm going to lake benbrooke in Fort Worth, and I can only shore fish. I believe that it's a rocky beach all the way around so there isn't a any like grass or reeds that I can cast into. I also think it has a rocky surface below. There is also a large dam that you can get next too. Anyone know where I should fish, and jig, rigs, or bait I should use
  20. I'm interested in getting my first fishing boat. ATM I don't have the means to store or transport a regular boar or kayak. So I was planning on getting a inflatable boat for now. I have looked around and found a few that interest me. It would be great if I could get some opinions on their reliability. Which one of these inflatable boats would be ideal for me? 6'2" 250lbs I plan on using it on small lake and ponds. 21. People are having a hard time believing the actual length of this beast, but I'll tell you it came from a lake where they're extremely well fed. Hint, weight is 4lbs on the dot. Southern Tier NY.
  22. Hi, I'm sure this is a simple question , as I know very little about lake fishing... I caught multiple nice smallies in about 3-4 feet of water and then three weeks later I fished the same spot for hours without seeing a fish. Throughout those weeks it was hot, although the that spot has lili pads and a lot of grass. Then I caught one deeper, could someone tell me what the temp is that the small mouth will move deeper if there is one, or just a general idea... Thanks.
  23. I have been fishing at this lake since I was 5. It's tough to even catch a little bluegill, let alone a bass. I've talked to people that go out on the lake in boats that can get the even the best spots and there is nothing. Anyone know a possible reason good fish can just not be in there anymore? The lake has a history of having high acidic levels but I don't think that's the only reason.
  24. Hey guys, I'm a new bass guy. I've fished trout for over 20 years, however the bass thus far have been elusive. I was curious if anyone knew any good fisheries around killeen/ fort hood? I was just medically retired from the ARMY, and I'm looking to enjoy a little bit of free time! I'd love some insight, also be advised I'm a bank fisherman. I've tried almost everything on fort hood and stillhouse and I swear the only thing I've caught is a cold (over exageration). I've caught a couple 1-2 lb LMB, however thats after over 10 outings, 2 fish LOL!
  25. I am wondering how I would catch largemouth bass in pretty shallow brownish green water with rocks and some weeds. It is at the end of a cove in Lake Anna in Virginia.
