  1. Hi all, I have 3 brand new unused Kistler Series 1 reels - 2 in left hand and one in right hand retrieve. All: Aluminum frame 7.3:1 gear ratio Line strength indicator Drag Clicker New bottle of reel oil $165 shipped each or a pair for $300. Can negotiate all 3 to save on shipping.
  2. Looking at the 7’1 MH X-Fast Kistler Helium 3 and the ALX Zolo Deputy for Jigs and T-Rigs. Fishing open water and relatively light cover, 3/16 oz t-rigs and 3/8 oz and 1/2 jigs. I know people like a heavier rod for 1/2 jigs, but I’m looking to be able to throw 3/8 oz and 1/2 oz in the same rod. The He3 is on sale for $221 right now while I would probably get a custom Deputy (change colors and grips) for around 240-250.
  3. Deciding between one of these 3 for a new jig rod. All would be rated for 3/8-1 oz lures. Daiwa is the most affordable, and people claim its very sensitive, but i like the looks of the st croix LT and after researching it seems kistler makes some of the most sensitive rods. Anyone with experience, is there a big difference in sensitivity, and is there a big difference in performance from the higher prices of two of these rods as compared to the tatula? Also considering a refurbished dobyns champion extreme hp but i'm afraid a 705 would be too heavy and stiff for a jig/heavy texas rig rod. I know i've posted a lot about this, but really want to make sure my money is spent wisely. Thanks
  4. Hey guys, I've been looking at getting a rod to fish in heavier cover. I would like to use it for even more applications than it's intended for because I'm not really one to give a pole one specific job. I was looking at the kistler Helium 3 7 foot heavy and was wondering if any of you have used it and what you thought. Did you think it was to flimsy or did it have enough backbone to get the job done? Any input will be great thanks guys.
  5. Hey Everyone, I’ve been looking for a quality jig rod and I’m thinking about the Helium 3. The 7’4 Medium-Heavy/Extra-Fast is what I’m looking at. I’d be mostly using it for pitching ¼ - ½oz t-rigs and jigs (#20 copolymer). What are your thoughts on this particular rod for my intended purposes? Are the extra-fast tips on these rods fine for my intended application? Thanks in advance!
  6. I am thinking of getting a new rod for flippin and pitchin. I have narrowed it down to the gloomis e6x and the Kistler KLX. I have used GLX's many times and z bones and I liked them both. I will be normally flippin wood.
  7. In the last 6 months I discovered the power of the jig and it's now one of my confidence baits. Now I'm just debating what rod to purchase. As a high school student I've been saving up my money for a while so I want a setup that'll be money well spent. As a member of the high school bass fishing team I've come to enjoy the competitive aspect of bass fishing. Last year my friend and I placed 5th out of 21 boats in a sectional tournament (and we were the only freshmen present!). This year I'd like to step it up and add a 2nd rod to my arsenal (hopefully make it to state). My strength is pitching very accurately and thoroughly fishing an area. So the selling points of a fishing rod for me is the rod balance and sensitivity. Here are some choices below I'm debating about. St Croix Legend Tournament 7'1" medium heavy power, fast action sku: TBC71MHF $260 Kistler Helium 3 7'1" medium heavy power, extra fast action sku: He3MH71XF $260 Any opinions and/or other rod recommendations will be well appreciated. Thank you.
  8. I'm looking to complete my arsenal and was hoping you experts on here could help me out. Below is the setups that I currently own: Crankbait Setup: Kistler Helium Crankbait Rod (7' Moderate Fast, Medium) paired with Shimano Chronarch CH200E5 Spinnerbaits: BPS Extreme Woo Davies Spinnerbait Rod (6'6" Fast, Medium) paired with Shimano Curado Bantam 200 T-Rigged Baits: BPS Extreme Wood Davies Worm Rod (6'6" Fast, Medium Heavy) paired with Shimano Scorpion MG 1000 Jig: GLoomis BCR854 Mossyback (7'1" Fast, Heavy) paired with Shimano Scorpion MG1000 Top Water: BPS Extreme Wood Davies Spinnerbait Rod (6'6" Fast, Medium) paired with Shimano Curado Bantam 200 Carolina Rig: Chatterbait: Any issues with the above setups? I want to upgrade from the BPS Extreme Rods to something a better. Any suggestions? I've only used previously Kistler and GLoomis. They are both great in my opinion. After I upgrade, I was planning to use the BPS Worm Rod for Carolina Rigging and the BPS Spinnerbait rod for chatterbaits. Will that work sufficiently? So I'm basically looking to upgrade my rod for T-Rigged baits, Spinnerbaits and top water. Also, I believe I need to add some high speed reels to my arsenal. Especially for carolina rigging and perhaps get higher speed reels for my jig setup and t-rigged? Any help, suggestions, comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Hello, I just recently bought a kistler micro helium spinning rod and am looking to pair it up with a wavespin DHz reel. On the rod it "limits" line rating from 12-17 lb. the wavespin dh 3000z has a "limit" from 6-10 lb, but the 4000z has a "limit" from 8-12 lbs. there is a chart on wavespin.com that says the 3000z is best suited for bass/pike, walleye, trout, panfish, crappie, and salmon which is what I fish for 99.999999% of the time. The 3000z's recommended line rating doesn't go to 12 lb though! And the 4000z is suited for bass/pike, musky, catfish, and salmon and I fish for bass, trout, and walleye most of the time! Is it okay to put 10 lb test on a rod rated for 12 lbs? By the way the rod has micro guides if that were to effect anything! Thanks, Mike Here's the link to the specs http://www.wavespinreel.com/specs.html
  10. Hello all, If you haven't heard kistler is having a bogo offer and I couldn't resist. Bought myself a helium spinning rod and when I came to choosing my free mag rod I didn't know what to get! I don't have a baitcaster and really think I need one so I grabbed this: New 2012 Micro Magnesium All Purpose Med-Heavy 6' 9" Cast http://www.kistlerrods.com/p/fishing-rod/c-Mic-Magnesium-Fishing-Rods/MicMgAPSMH69.html Seemed like a good rod to start with and I got it for free! Now I need a reel! From my extensive spinning rod experience I know that shimano, Abu Garcia, and pflueger make nice reels. What should I get? Preferably under 100, but I can stretch my budget to $150 maybe Thanks, Mike
