  1. I am a high school bass angler and I'm fishing a tournament in early April at Wilson. I'm just looking to get some more good information on the lake, what color, styles to use etc.
  2. Hello All, My name is Zach, and fishing is my greatest passion! I'm new to this site, and new to bass fishing as well, but that doesn't mean I'm new to fishing. I grew up fishing for trout in the cold waters of the SW Montana and NE Idaho border area and loved it. Mostly spin fishing, but I learned to fly fish towards the end of my high school career; this is what really sucked me into the world of fishing. I learned to tie flies, started studying the behavioral patterns of trout in every season and basically fully gave myself over to an obsession with fishing. Fast forward 4 years and I live in urban-central Wichita, Kansas. Hardly any trout, and I wouldn't eat the ones there are. HOWEVER - I'm quickly learning that Kansas is a haven for bass fishing, and an obsession with the sport is developing even more quickly. I caught my first 5 bass in the Island Pond at the Great Plains Nature Center on a Rat-L-Trap, with the biggest being about 18 and quarter inches. Before catching anything, I spent months trying at Chisholm North Lake without even a bite (at least any that were discernable to me, the noob). Now that I've actually caught a bass, my determination to master the sport has grown exponentially. I've been going back to Chisholm ever since; I know they're in there, and d**n it if I ain't gonna catch 'em one way or another. The reason I joined this forum is because of how helpful it's been in my journey to figure this darn fish out. Hopefully someday I'll be in a position to share some wisdom on here for new bass fisherman like so many before have done for me. In the meantime, I'll keep fishing and perusing the forum for that next bit of knowledge to help improve my skills more and more. It's nice to meet you all, and I hope one of you has an interesting fishing story for me! Keep on keepin' on, and may the fish be with you.... -ZStretch

  4. Anyone in the Kansas City area and know some on Kill Creek Lake? I've only been there once besides going as a little kid. Just wanting to get some tips on the lake.
  5. I have never fished the Kansas Mined Land Wildlife Area and would appreciate if anyone with experience fishing this area could point me in the right direction. I am planning on targeting largemouth bass, so I was curious which lakes/pits are best for bass fishing. Also, I have never caught a Warmouth bass and was wondering if there were certain lakes/pits that included this species as well. Thanks in advance!
  6. I live in Johnson County, KS I haven't been able to find many good bass fishing lakes around where I live. Please let me know if you know of any good lakes within an hour of JoCo and any tips for the lakes. Thanks for you help. @Bluebasser86 I know you would have some good advice.

  8. Hey guys I have a High School bass fishing tournament at Milford this weekend. Is there anybody that has fished there lately? I haven't fished there in a while, so any help would be appreciated.
  9. Anyone in Kansas fish with tube jigs? I've been having some luck with 2 3/4" jigs in flooded timber catching crappie and smaller bass, but am unlucky and 0-fer with the 3+ inch tubes with jigheads or weighted hooks. Any suggestions or comments?

  11. I'm a soldier stationed at Fort Riley and I am looking for somebody who has a boat and needs a Fishing partner. I'm land ridden and it's getting very boring! I'm am amateur and have a lot to learn when it comes to bass fishing. I am willing to help with any boat fees or preparation needed.
  12. Recently started fishing again after a good decade since my last serious endeauvor as a kid. I live near Kansas City. I've been fishing a few community lakes, and getting bored with catching sunfish and stocked channel cats. Where should I go for decent bass fishing within an hour of Kansas City/ Lawrence Kansas? What works around here? What lakes are dinkville? Thanks for any help!
  13. Hello everyone, I am a new member to the forums, I live in the merriam, KS area. I am a 27 year old, athletic trainer (ie sports medicine) for a local college so my falls and winters are pretty busy. I have been fishing all my life but have never been good at it; I like to fish for bass (large and smallies), crappie, walleye, and/or catfish. I am a shore fisherman, looking at getting a fishing kayak in the near future (most likely a freedom hawk just have to talk the wife into it). I would like to learn from someone who is willing to teach, I don't want handouts. I am purely a recreational fisherman and primarily catch/pic/release, unless I can get into good crappie. Look forward to enjoying the knowledge everyone has.
  14. Caught using 1 inch white rubber worm. Republican River at Fort Riley, Kansas.
