  1. Specifically, I have $200 to spend on a rod to cast/pitch 5/16 oz Siebert Sniper jigs with a Paca chunk trailer at isolated targets and docks. 3-12ft of clear water. light to medium cover. Targeting 4-6lb largemouth. Thanks in advance. Looking for specific model recommendations. Leaning toward Zodias, Victory…. What else?
  2. I’m sending this out for the Gloomis people out there, I’m looking for a new jig rod, preferably a gloomis. I throw at most a 1/2oz jig. I’ve been looking at the NRX 854c but thought I would ask you all what you think. I’m looking for sensitivity price range is $500
  3. Just talked to Falcon on the phone since I could not find the Cara 7’3 Swimbait/Pitchin rod anywhere for sale. Asked if they discontinued the rod and they said they have not had any Caras in stock for the past 4 months and that they aren’t sure if they will ever get any rods back in stock. Hopefully this changes and they will still continue make some rods in the USA, but they told me to try the “Expert” line of rods. Does anyone know if the Expert or Cara rods have a faster tip than the lowrider? I have not used any but the lowrider 20 and 2019 lowrider. They seem to have a bit slower tip than most brands. The reason I wanted the Cara Swimbait/Pitchin rod was bc it was an extra fast. I have an Amistad and was looking at the XH Amistad thinking it might have a stiffer tip. Thanks for any help.
  4. Hi guys just purchased a curado 200k 7.4 hg for jig fishing. I’m looking to pair it up with a alx rod probably the Zolo Dragger but I’m told they had a semi micro guide system on them and I prefer to run braid to a flouro leader will this be an issue with these guides? I can’t stand it when my leader knot catches. Also my current highest end rod I own is a lews Mach 2 speed stick (im8 version) and dropping 200+ on a rod is kind of a big deal for me. I feel that the lews is pretty sensitive will I see a huge difference between these two rods? (Iknow it is quite subjective) or should I save my money and go with an ikos or another lews stick? Thanks!!
  5. I'm looking to upgrade my jig rod this year. My rods are all around the 100$ price point (Bucoos, infernos, maxims, triumph) and it's seems the general consensus is that jig rods are the ones worth investing the most money in. I'm shooting for something around 200$. My initial research is pointing toward the Zodias, E6X, and Megabass Levante. The main emphasis for me is a rod that can excel in both close quarters fishing, and deep water draggin'. I could be trying to get too much out of one rod, but fishing from a yak has me limited to a small selection of rods at any given time. Anyways, any input on a jig rod that could do both wel would be greatly appreciated
  6. Im looking for a new jig rod for this fall. Im not looking to spend really more than $100 so if anyone has any reccomendations that would be appreciated.
  7. Everyone and there brother has been wondering about the new G Loomis rods. I went against my natural tendency and bought one shortly after they became available on Tackle Warehouse. This is my first ever G Loomis that I have bought. Since then I have fished with it twice on the lake using it most of the time. The rod I am reviewing is the 894c 7'5" heavy jig rod, rated for 5/16oz-3/4oz I bought this rod to primarily be my jig rod. I have been on the search to find one that fit my needs perfectly and trust me it has been quite a battle. This rod fits my needs absolutely perfectly so far. Living on the Coosa river chain there is no idea what I might be throwing jig wise. One minute I will be skipping a 3/8oz jig under docks and trees, the next I will be throwing a 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz to deep points and humps. I have been looking for a rod that can do all of this perfectly. So I went and did all of these things with this rod and it did it all exactly how I wanted it to. It has enough tip where you can feel those lighter jigs perfectly on the bottom but also enough power to rip fish out of cover. The sensitivity is what I would expect out of a $250 dollar rod. I had no problem picking up on the soft bites from the lethargic fish. I will admit that I am weird and like to skip docks with a 7'3" to 7'6" rod. Honestly that's the length I prefer in every technique except jerk bait fishing. The 7'5 is an awesome length and provides for awesome leverage and long casts. Durability wise I can't speak on much because I have not had it very long but it seems to be well made and had no problem boat flipping 3 1/2 pounders. Perhaps my favorite part was how well balanced the rod was. I but a shimano 200i on it and it was balance perfectly. It isn't the lightest rod I have ever felt but it is definitely not tip heavy. Compared to other rods however it is very light. So far I am very impressed with my first Loomis and think that the 893 will be my next purchase. I prefer to stay in the 150-200 dollar range for rods and from what I can see so far this is one of the best if not the best I have used in this price range. We will see how this holds up for the next month or so. If it does it will have one me over and I will purchase a few more. Tight Lines, Josh
  8. Should i get the glx for $320 or the imx for $200? Is the $120 really worth it? Im going to be using the rod for jigs, flipping and pitching softbaits, and some topwater.
  9. I am looking for the best jig rod and reel baitcaster to buy for about 200$ I'm mostly going to use it for swim jigs and football head jigs
  10. ok i'm thinking it would be a good idea to have a rod that allows me to feel the bottom fairly well for fishing jigs, Carolina rigs & larger worms. what rods do you guys use for this i have searched a bit and haven't really found anything any suggestions are welcome it will most likely be paired with a Daiwa Tatula not sure which ratio either a 6 or a 7 forgot to mention budget i would likely be looking at $150-$175
  11. Just want to see peoples opinions on what group they would choose...(Some of you may not choose either, your opinions are welcome also.) Need two rods that I have opening's for in my aresenal (because I sold off a few). I need one for a jig rod/Trig rod with total weight ranging between 1/2-5/8, and one rod for senko/t-rigs < 3/8. Reels that I have available to put on these rods are a Chornarch 50E, Curado 50E, and a Curado 200G. Here are my groupings on the two rod brands/models I have decided upon, I have done a lot of research on them, both are highly regarded, so it's time to see what they are all about. Unfortunately, I can only get two and not all four. I am not sure yet what reel I will put on which rod. Group A - Megabass Orachi XX Perfect pitch - Jig/Trig - ALX Deputy - Senko/light Trig Group B - Alx Toadface or Dragger - Jig/Trig - Megabass Orachi EMTF - Senko/light Trig
  12. Pondering this rod for 3/8 oz jigs + trailer (5/8 oz total weight). I want to try out a megabass rod and am looking for advice from any who have had any experience with the Diblo spec r. What type of tip would you describe it as having? Hows the sensitivity and backbone of the rod? (Currently fish 13envy black rods for my bottom contact baits, and I like rods in the 7 to 7-3 length. Moderate cover at best.)
  13. In the last 6 months I discovered the power of the jig and it's now one of my confidence baits. Now I'm just debating what rod to purchase. As a high school student I've been saving up my money for a while so I want a setup that'll be money well spent. As a member of the high school bass fishing team I've come to enjoy the competitive aspect of bass fishing. Last year my friend and I placed 5th out of 21 boats in a sectional tournament (and we were the only freshmen present!). This year I'd like to step it up and add a 2nd rod to my arsenal (hopefully make it to state). My strength is pitching very accurately and thoroughly fishing an area. So the selling points of a fishing rod for me is the rod balance and sensitivity. Here are some choices below I'm debating about. St Croix Legend Tournament 7'1" medium heavy power, fast action sku: TBC71MHF $260 Kistler Helium 3 7'1" medium heavy power, extra fast action sku: He3MH71XF $260 Any opinions and/or other rod recommendations will be well appreciated. Thank you.
  14. I am looking for a new jig rod. I like 7 foot to about 7 foot 3. I will mostly be throwing 3/8 ounce jigs. Also I'm a kayak angler so it has to be versatile, able to throw chatter baits, spinner baits, things like that. As for price I'm thinking 100 to 150. So far my favorite is the st croix mojo bass spinnerbaits rod. But I'm still open minded. Thank you
  15. Everyone on here knows i am straight up true blue Denali rods believer. But recently ive been stumped. I am in the market for a jig Rod, price is not too big of an issue since i can get a good discount through the college team on tackle warehouse. I'm looking for a 7'3" of a 7'4" rod. i would preferably go with a heavy action. Im really considering the Noirwood slop rod but its an extra heavy. and on here on the coosa i fish some 3/8 oz jigs alot and sometime 5/16 oz. its rated for a 3/8 oz i just wanna make sure i can feel it. this rod will also be used for my jigs as big as 3/4 too. I'm trying to find a sweet medium that will do it all. and i want sensitivity for sure. if anyone has fished the Slop rod please let me know your input. But i might just be willing to break away to a different brand for just this rod even though its hard. i'm super picky about my jig rods so if anyone has anything they would suggest or any info on the slop rod i would greatly appreciate it!
