  1. Friend has a 2014 Evinrude Etec 115 horse on his boat. At wot it goes about 38 mph according to the speedometer and fish locaters GPS. At wot of 38 mph after a few mins it usually throttles down on it’s own to about 36mph for no reason. If you throttle back and then throttle up to wot again it goes back up to 38mph. If you don’t it will just keep going at the slower speed. Whats going on here?
  2. New to this site so hopefully so hopefully I am posting in the correct spot. I had an issue towing my boat and trailer this weekend. Quick background. Boat and trailer is a 2000 Bass Tracker Pro Team 175W. I bought this last year and have had it out a ton with no issues. Friday 3-18-16 we went to Mozingo Lake about 40 miles from home and had no issues on the way up. On the return trip home I stopped to drop my friend off (probably 30 miles into the return trip with no issues still). When I got back on the highway after a mile maybe I noticed something was wrong. My truck felt like it had the brakes on and when I let off the throttle there was a horrible shake/vibration in the truck and the truck slowed more than normal. This continued for several miles and eventually smoothed out some. I have not towed the boat since but I have checked a few things. Bearings look and feel great. No slop in the wheels and sounds smooth when spun. They have not been replaced since I have owned the boat but I have greased them. Tires do have a noticable flat spot (maybe 3-4 inches long) on the inside portion of the tire. The inside looks to be worn more than the outside. I assume the tires are the original ones. Anything else I can check would be much appreciated. Could this be caused by the tires being in the condition I described?
  3. Hey guys, I am no mechanic or even really mechanically inclined by any means, so I figured I would ask around here and see if anyone can help me identify a strange issue my old 2 Stroke Evinrude is having. Mind you this motor is from 1986, and is a cantankerous little machine - noisy, loud, and ugly as sin. When I shift into forward and am travelling below about 60% throttle the boat intermittently 'kicks' forward almost as if I have bumped the throttle up real quick then it seems to drop out of gear, before catching back up to the set throttle speed. It's definitely a strange action that occurs every 45 seconds or so. When travelling on plane at full speed this issue does not occur at all, and the ride is normal, with no kicking. Any thoughts? I'm not sure if this is a motor issue, a throttle cable issue, or something else entirely.
  4. I have had a Shimano Scorpion 1000 XT for about 2 years. Today I was doing some routine maintenance and took off the side plate. When I went to put it back on, the 1/8th turn release switch didnt seem to turn completely back to closed. I tried to correct this problem, however I could never get the switch to completly turn. The good news is that the side plate seems to be on tight and is flush with the frame even without fully being able the switch back to closed. On the other hand, when I am not trying to re-attach the side plate, I am able to fully turn the release switch all the way back to close. I can do this as long as the side plate is not against the frame of the reel. Other than this issue the reel seems to be working fine, and my only concerns are that this is somthing that could get worse, or effect the perfomrance of the reel. Has anyone else noticed this with their Shimano reels? Is this anything to worry about? And is there a fix? Thanks, -Jack
