  1. So i'm new to bass fishing and I have only ever caught bass on the senko worms on a wacky rig. However, everytime I set the hook, it ends up coming out around the nostrils. How should I change my hook setting technique. Also today I caught a bass and I broke its mouth do you think it will live?
  2. Do you need to set the hook for an octopus hook or is it like the circle hook where you just reel in? And if you do need to set the hook how hard do you need to set it? I just got 5/0 octopus hooks(yeah I know way too big) and I was using them with o-ring wacky senko's and I missed like 5+ bass so I'm wondering if I'm doing things wrong. I also run the hook parallel to the senko rather than perpendicular because of the o-ring. Next time I will be getting Owner 1/0 hooks. It's just that I went to the walmart nearest to me and they only had the octopus hooks. Next time I will go to Bass Pro and get the owner hooks for sure. Is it really necessary to make the hook perpendicular or does it not matter much. Could it be the difference between me missing or catching the biggest bass of my life?
  3. I know I came across something like this one day when I was doing some research, and I'm having trouble finding it again. The question here is.. When I'm working Texas rig, is there anyway the bullet weight can affect a hook set? Wether it be the bass gulped up the weight when she sucked in the lure, causing her to open her mouth when the hook is set from the weight pounding on the inside of her mouth, or the weight to heavy that you really only whip the weight up vs actually whipping on the hook? I mean honestly I have been fishing Texas rig all my life and of course I have missed more fish than i can count (I can say the same about how many I've caught) but if there was an actual reason potentially behind the weight on why I could have missed a handful of those that got away? So if you have heard of anything like this please spin me up on it! And I know of a hundred other reasons on why there could have been a failed hook set, just want to know if the weight, or position of the weight affected it at all! Thank you!
  4. So, I am new with Texas Rig worm fishing. My problem is everytime i feel a tap or two taps on my line I get excited and set the hook (upward motion) right away . Because i didnt want the fish to spit out the lure. At a result I always ended up missing the fish . So what is the right technique for setting the hook on bass? Do you wait to feel the full weight of the fish then set hook?
