I have a Striker 4CV currently. I want a unit with side scan. I am looking at the 7SV. I noticed on the BPS website that the Echomap UHD 74sv is only 350.00$. The 7SV is 519.00$. Now the UHD 74sv is a marine unit. I believe in the Garmin world that means the maps loaded to the unit are marine maps only. Is this correct? Now the 7SV doesn't have any loaded maps. The mapping feature is actually more important to me the the pre-loaded maps. Most of the bodies of water I fish would not be represented on their software. Is there a reason not to but the UHD 74sv? Thanks everyone.
Anyone know if the new Striker Vivid 7sv is just about additional color options or is there more to this unit? Already have an echomap 93sv for the console but need sonar/side view for up front at the TM. If it's just colors, I might save the hundred bucks and go for the older model. Thanks in advance for any guidance!
I've been a lowrance guy for years.
Recently shopped around and decided to try the garmin striker for the price point, side scan and down scan.
So far so good! Very happy with it and easy to use!
Hi All,
While fairly new to bass fishing and very new to kayak fishing, I was fortunate enough to be able to pick up a Garmin 53cv echoMAP. I've had it out only three times and want to get proficient with it. My transducer is "in the water" (not shooting through the hull) in a RAM mount.
Any tips/tricks/settings that are best would be GREATLY appreciated for this fish finder newb!
Thanks in advance!
Best regards - FreddoB
