  1. Has anyone tied a dropper fly to their lure or leader to fish more than one depth? I am thinking a royal coachman or buck-tail streamer with enough floatant would work above a jig on a slow drag maybe a wet fly or streamer under a popper would maximize bites. Besides getting bluegill to use as bait if bites are slow.
  2. I really lucked out and i'll tell you why. My small town had a huge yard sale all over the place and i looked all around for fishing stuff i could get my hands on for free or not very much. I spent a total of 20$ and even got a few things for free. Brand new fishing stringer, Two brand new only used once medium spin casting combos "Not my kind of setup, But they'll work and i could always change it out for a bait caster reel and use them for bass or something." A seven foot fly fishing rod that can use up to #5/6 fly line and #4-10 line. "Could use this as a new rainbow trout/panfish/etc setup" A few tackle boxes for free and it came with old tools and lures/etc. Overall, I think i did good and am super excited to try these setups for the upcoming stocking of rainbow trouts. I think out of all the stuff i got the fly fishing rod has to be the coolest and i really want to learn how to use one and at least get one fish on it.
  3. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good places that are in the lower end of the lower peninsula that i could catch a couple pike when i have a day off.
  4. Looking for the best bass fly fishing combo for a good price and also acceptable quality.
  5. I'm looking to start fly fishing, but all the waters I have to fish at are really murky. Will it still work?
  6. I saw a decent looking Fly fishing kit at Wal-mart today for $40. I have never tried fly fishing, but I want to learn, so does anyone know if thes starter kits are any good for a beginner to learn the basics?
  7. I made a small little fly thing out of some wood the other day, and recently I have been testing it out on the local ponds for grass carp. It is so fun watching the slow, but exciting chase then the bite off the surface, and hearing the drag scream when they make 30 yard runs. I will be getting a fly reel very soon to use regular dry flies, but I can't cast them on ultra-light gear so i just made one out of wood. I have caught a few on it already, all under 15 lbs, but a pond less than a mile from my house is packed with 30-40 lb giants. I havent gone there yet cause the place where they all hang out is too far to cast the little wooden fly (20 - 30 ft). Can't wait to catch some giants on a fly reel. Anyone else here fly-fish for grass carp?
