  1. I have 3 baitcasters and am going to be respooling all 3. Do I use YZH on all or do I spool one with BigGame?
  2. Got a baitcaster I'm going to spool with something other than braid. Will be a general purpose setup, you name it I'll throw on this setup. What would you recommend along with what lb test?
  3. I’ve read from a lot of suggestions on here that people use braid to fluorocarbon leaders. Personally tying leaders was always a hassle for me so I generally just tied straight to braid. I plan to give it another try next season. I want to touch on a few things here. 1. Is it worth spending more on a premium line if you only intend it as leader material? The general belief seems to be that higher end fluorocarbons handle better than cheap ones but does it matter for leader? 2. Does fluoro really have any benefit over mono in short <3’ lengths? People extoll the slack line sensitivity and reduced stretch of fluoro but I don’t see these things mattering in short lengths. 3. I’m not sold on fluorocarbon being significantly less visible than mono. I’ve never had issues getting bites on monofilament line in crystal clear water. In many cases I’ve had fish in clear water strike lures on straight braid with no inhibition. 4. How long of a top shot do you normally tie on? From my experience tying a long one on negates the benefits you get from spooling braid. Please enlighten me on these topics. Feel free to try changing my mind.
  4. This might be kind of lengthy but I need some help picking what line I should use. I have a medium light which I plan to use for creek swallies and finesse worm techniques, a medium power spinning rod which I don’t know what I’ll use that for, a medium power baitcaster which I wanna use for crankbaits, finesse jigs, light Texas rigs pretty much everything that’s not too heavy including topwaters, but here’s where I can’t decide, what I plan to use my medium heavy baitcasting setup for is good for fluorocarbon except I wanna be able to use a frog too and braid doesn’t go well with reaction baits from my understanding and jigs and heavier cranks and spinnerbaits. I would love some help on this .
  5. I need some opinions from ya'll! I have three rods, a MH, a ML & a MF(all spinning). I'm really trying to focus on getting the best results based on line and rod. I have braid as the mainline on all three with the MH being braid only and i'm throwing heavy topwaters(big whopper plopper) and frogs with that. I'm drop-shotting, ned rigging and finessing with the ML. Last, I'm throwing lighter topwaters, crankbaits, jerkbaits and jigs with the MF. I currently have #10 Seaguar InvizX Fluoro, #10 Sufix Elite Mono and #8 Izorline Copoly. Which line would you put on which rod to maximize my results?
  6. What pound test would be best suited for senko fishing using Fluoro? I've always used 8 pound mono and it seemed to work. Is fluoro make that much of a difference with senko fishing?
  7. I am going to use a leader on a 20 lb Hi Vis braid spinning set up. Would you suggest 8 lb Fluorocarbon or 8 lb Yo Zuri Hybrid as a leader?
  8. I am relatively new to bass fishing and although i know how to rig and fish the basic stuff, i am limited to a rod or two. What type of line would be the best for me to use everything on? I cant decide which one will get me through most situations. I have a 6'6" medium spinning rod and currently have 10 pound mono on it that should be replaced. Thanks
  9. Hi all, After many reties or loosing fluoro line to snags, I was wondering if it's feasible to do a fluoro to fluoro line tie? If it was mono I would just throw away left over line but fluoro is not a cheap line to respool Any advise would be helpful
  10. I have started fishing the drop shot and I have had some success on it. Right now I am using 8lb Trilene XL mono and I want to step it up. My one question is should I get braid or fluorocarbon. My setup is a Pflueger Supreme with a 6' 9" Medium Light Fast action Fenwick EliteTech Smallmouth. I will also use this setup for senkos and shakey heads or anything else that is finesse.
  11. I need some serious help with spooling my spinning reel. I've been trying to spool the #8 mono that will be backing for my seaguar fluoro. I understand that you want to match the line memory of the spool to the reel. Looking at the reel from the but of the rod(looking at it turned upside down. It turns counter clockwise. So I laid the spool on the floor so that line was coming off counter clockwise but I continue to have the line try to jump off the spool when I flip up the bail. How can I prevent this?also does it even matter if there are twists in the mono when it is only backing. Thanks for any guidance
  12. I posted a similar topic earlier but now know more about my set-up. I need a line for my 6'6 medium power fast action spinning combo that will be used for wacky-worms and hard jerkbaits. I'm debating between 10-12lb. fluorocarbon, or 20 lb. braid with a fluoro leader. Keep in mind that here in Minnesota the lakes I fish are all dirty and stained. I don't really need invisibility so much as i need sinking line that wont screw up the wacky worms action. I'd was going with the 12 lb. fluoro but am worried it may be too heavy for wackies..any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  13. I'm wondering what type of line to get for my spinning rod and reel. Haven't bought them yet, but it will be pflueger president 6930 and a 6'6 medium-fast rod. I'll be primarily fishing wacky worms, but will also throw small 1/4 oz. spinnerbaits, cranks and jerkbaits. What type of line and lb. test would be best for primarily wacky fishing but also the others? Thanks so much for any help!
  14. So... I have a solid base of 50 lb p-pro braid on my Abu Revo S, getting her set up for this spring. This is my first baitcaster, so i am going to be pitching with it mostly, and doing some cranking with it potentially. Paired with a veritas 7' MH, fast action (I realize not a great cranking rod). What is everyone's favorite brand of Fluoro to use as a leader attached to braid? I know to match up my diameters, but I have seen a lot of mixed reviews out there on different sites. I wasn't sure if people have a differing opinion on fluoro to use as a leader vs. using it for the entire line. Budget doesn't bother me that much, as a spool should last me a while using it as just leader. Thanks guys
  15. I recently purchased some Seaguar Red Label fishing line in 8lb test. I put the line on my spinning reel, so the line was coming of the filler spool counter-clockwise, that is the way people told me to put it on. While I was spooling the reel I sprayed a few squirt of Kevin Van Dam's Line and lure onto the line every 20 yards. I let the first treatment settle over night like it says. So when I went out today and when I opened up the bail the line shot off the spool, I don't know if this is really a problem but I'm just curious is this normal? I know for a fact that I did not over spool the reel.
