  1. This season I will be using my first baitcaster for a second season. I would like to graduate from using 12lb mono to all fluorocarbon. The rod is a 7ft medium heavy dobyns sierra. I use this rod to throw jigs/crank baits/weighted Texas rigs/spinnerbaits/chatterbaits kinda my do everything rod. What brand/lb floro would you all recommend for this rod setup ? I know I’m asking a lot out of this rod but I can’t justify owning 10 different rods. I also own a heavy frogging setup that covers my top water needs.
  2. Guys looking for most limp Fluorocarbon for my jerkbait casting set up. Looking to use 10lb or 12lb test straight flouro.Since I believe Seaguar is the best brand for Flouro, I prefer one of Seaguars Line, But open to any suggestion. Please advice. Thank you in advance.
  3. Hi all ? Wondering what fluorocarbon you use for Spinning reel and baitcasters. I tried out several few years back for spinning and baitcasters. I liked Sunline Super FC Sniper Flourocarbon for my baitcasters. Really like how it performs! I’ve used Suffix fluorocarbon but it would tangle as season gone on. Not a big fan it’s just “decent.” whats your fluorocarbon for spinning and baitcasters!? How is the Suffix Flourocarbon Advance? Seen it was new. Thanks!
  4. I usually throw my T-rig on straight 30# braid, but my areas have been getting quite a bit of pressure so I’ve decided to add a “finesse” T-rig setup to my arsenal. I have a 7’ M-F with a Daiwa Tatula 100 7.3:1. Weightless Senkos (sometimes with 1/8oz or 3/16oz bullet weight), trick and finesse worms with 1/8-1/4oz weight, and a 1/4oz craw or creature style bait. I’ve tried 15# and currently have 12# on, but should I be using something a little lighter?
  5. Im a braid line only user, kastking superline 30 lbs and kasting fortis 50 lbs, since im start to think that the baraid line affects my bite rate since i cast worms most of the time and the last 2 fishing trips did not get even one bite but i use my wife's reel for a minute wich is spooled with 12lbs eagle claw mono line and got a wish in less than a minute, i was at night and we were using the same weight, rig and powerbait red shad 10" worm, by the way i fish at from shore at amistad lake, clear water. i use an abu garcia mgx 7.9:1 baitcasting pair with a veritas 2.0 medium heavy 6.6 ft rod, hers is an abu garcia ike dude spinning reel medium 6 ft rod.
  6. ive never used flouro before and was looking at berkley vanish, has anyone got any experience with this line. i would be using 17 lb test for t-rigs, jigs, and spinner baits.
  7. Hey Folks, I am considering restringing my spinning outfits. I run a charter in South Florida, targetting mostly Largemouth in the Everglades, however I do run a lot of Peacock Bass trips. I have traditionally been using Mono around the 10-15lb weight class. I have also experimented with co-polymers (flourocarbon coated mono). The bass get big down here, and i often deal with pretty heavy cover and structure. Also my peacock trips are primarily utelizing live shiners. These monster peacocks and clownknive fish are snapping through the mon and copolymer lines way to quickly for my liking. I am thinking of switching my reels to braid, maybe flouro leaders too. I will break down my primary uses of spinning gear in hopes you all and your vast knowledge can offer some advice on which line or combo of line, would best suit my methods. Topwater plugs, like torpedoes, poppers etc - mono 10-12 lbs because it floats and I like the strretch for those bass that chase, inhale and keep running.... weightless soft plastics, like flukes and stick baits (senko style) -also mono 10-12lb for the stretch again, i think it allows me to give the lures more action with a softer feel (if that makes sense).... Live shiners for peacock and clown knive fish (strong fighters that can reach 15 pounds) -pline copolymer (flourocoated mono) 15lbs - well because i thought it may be stronger and still not visible.... I have 4 outfits tgo restring, any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks folks!
  8. Hi everyone I am just wondering when fishing with light braid, for example 8# to 15# test, does anyone tie on a fluorocarbon leader when targeting smallies or trout? I would be throwing a senko or spoons at 1/2oz or under.... Anyone tried this before? is it a good idea? How long should the leader be? Thanks
  9. I've recently been starting to mess around with flourocarbon line. I've tried it as my main line on my one baitcaster, but I don't like how it handles nearly as much as I like my braided line. However, I do seem to be getting more bites in clearer water when using the flourocarbon. So like many others, I've decided it's probably best to use my braid as a main line, and then use the flouro as a leader. So last night I decided to practice tying my fluoro leaders to my braid on all of my setups. I used a Surgeon's knot to tie all of my leaders on. After tying my leaders on, I just don't trust that this knot is going to hold up once I get a fish on. I know I have the knots tied correctly, but they just don't seem like they will hold up with the weight of a thrashing fish on the end of the line. Am I over worrying? Or is there something else I should try for better results? For reference, I am using Invis-X 10lb Fluoro and tying onto Suffix 832 40 &50lb. Thanks in advance guys!
  10. I've fished many different types of lines from fluorocarbon to braid and all in between. But mostly fish with a co polymer, mostly because it is cheaper. Does the fluorocarbon really make that much of a difference in the amount of fish you catch? Leave your opinions below! Thanks,
  11. Hey guys, I'm in need of some information..... I use two rods with braid on them, 65lb (17eq) on my baitcaster and 15lb (4eq) on my spinning reel. The fishing has been slow lately these dog days and I've had some luck with my ultralight crappie/panfish combo, however a lost hawg this evening has me wishing I would've brought either one of my aforementioned braid rigs this time. I've read when finesse fishing it's advantageous to have a leader attached, especially in clear water and in my experience a couple of the bodies of water I fish do tend to actually produce better with flourocarbon line versus my braid, and that makes me wonder if I might find it helpful and more successful if I use a flouro leader on my braid rigs when I'm in these clear bodies of water. That brings me to my main question...... As I mentioned my rigs have 15 and 65 pound braids, so what weight of flouro leader should I use? It seems a disadvantage to have 15 or 65 pound braid on my rigs then put a 4 or 6 pound flouro leader on it. That seems to me that it would negate the need for a strong line if the weakest link of the line is the leader itself. So what pound test would I do best using, and where do I find it? I see whole 150/300yd spools of flouro at my local stores, but rarely do they top 10lb and I don't need 150/300 yards of it. Any advice on what and where would be appreciated as would any advice on my logic of using a leader. This is my first time considering it, so I'm not well versed on the pros/cons. Thanks guys
