  1. Thought I would have a posting of my experiences on Clarks Hill/Strom Thurmond lake. Feel free to post your own report here, or keep it a secret...lol. 10/3/2014 Evening bite is excellent, top water bait in the shallows and a drop bait off the points. Buddy pulled in 2x 5+lbs, I was at work, about killed me not being out there. Attached are his fish, not mine. 10/4/2014 Morning slow action but were schooling well after the sun came up in the coves where the wind was blowing into. Top water rattles about 50yrds off of the shore caught some smalls. Watermelon lizard in the shallows caught some more smalls. Water is very low and clear, be cautious of just under the water between the islands, many trees and stumps.
  2. Hello all, I'm from the other end of the state and was needing some info on the Chickahominy River. We are putting in at riverfront Friday of this week, and I've got a few ideas about places that look good on the map. We will be fishing out of a 17' boat. How bad did the hurricane hurt the area? Any methods or bait colors or patterns I should definitely give a try? Really hate driving 4-5 hrs and be clueless since I have never fished this particular area before or any tidal waters really.
  3. Went out fishing today at Wylie; started out with points early in the morning and got bit on topwater. No catches, bass were just chasing. Later in the afternoon bass shut off, with only 1 warmouth from a laydown. Couldn't figure out where they were, tried all different approaches. Shallow bite wasn't there, and we didn't have the electronics required to effectively fish deeper water (Doesn't identify cover underwater). Tough conditions as well, bluebird skies and extreme heat made early morning the only feasible way for us to catch fish without blind casting in open water (Again, couldn't find brush piles or anything for dragging worms or drop shotting.) If you are going to Wylie soon, go early morning and fish main lake points. Later in the day find deep structure on the main channel.
  4. I've been going up to Bone Creek once a week the past couple of weeks. On the first day, there were thunderstorms moving over Southeast KS and it was pretty nasty out with a lot of lightning. My brother and I stuck around and fished off of the Leaning Tree boat ramp area and were able to catch a few nice 2-3lb bass each. Once the storm moved in we decided to wait it out in the truck before fishing anymore. We waited about half an hour and then launched the Bass Raider. We fished up in the coves as far as we could go. The chatterbait bite was on as well as topwater. Overall we caught somewhere near 30. By far the best day I've had at Bone Creek.
  5. Hey everyone, I wanted to ask if anyone has fished Claytor Lake lately? If so, I am looking for some help. I am hiding up there this Friday for the weekend. Thanks for the help, Woody
  6. started off this morning great! got on the water for 5 am. beautiful out! nice starry sky and flat glass across the pond. for Sure im landing a big mamma today! started off using my spitten wa frog and the buzz plug(black) made about 30 cast casts... had just ONE interest. he bite at the frog but not full hearted so i quickly grab my ultra light with rubber worm and tried to finesse her out. NOPE. i tried everything! i used plastic worms from 5"- 12" in purple, pumpkin seed, motor oil, yellow ribbon tail, pumpkin seed bush hog, swim baits. nothing! tried crankbaits started with a crawdad black/orange/red color. got one 1lb on it with a slow to moderate retrieve. was pumped thought i figured it out. after about 3 hrs and losing my tail hook to a underwater structure i had to try a different one. (forgot my spare hooks and rings) tied on a yellow belly kvd crank. NOTHING! switched one of my other rods to a chatter bait. tried whit skirt and a green/orange skirt with crawdad claws. not any interest. tried to beef them up with a trailer. tried 4' boot tail to a 2' crawdad trailer blue. nothing. now im getting agitated, of course now im agitated i make a cast and got the worst rats nest ever in my bait caster with braid, so had to retire the bait caster for the day. thankfully i got 3 other rods with me. i go back to the pumpkin seed bush hog. got a nice bite i set the hook(didntfeel I set it good enough) and she was coming right at me, I tried setting the hook good and either yanked it out or never had her hooked to begin with, bummer! i left that area right away in hopes i could come back in a few for her. about an hr later i came back and fished that area for a while nothing. i start heading back and see this monster break water had to of been atleast 3lbs. i set anchor about 25 feet away and tried my best and threw everything at her with all sorts of retrieves and even just letting the bait sit for minutes. nothing. start headed back again. cast into this little nook and got my line about 6 feet over the water.so i twitched it a few times n nothing start with heavy twitch to unsnag the line not to fish and BAM hooked one nothing special but i was happy. got one more dink on the way back. got to the boat ramp reach down and sliced my pam open on a dam bolt. get everything all set to go get about 2 miles and my canoe nearly fell off my car lol stopped and fixed everything. WHAT A DAY!! not sure if i shoulda stayed home in bed I have been fishing at the new bedford ma. res. its two long bodies of water, pond one is just over a half mile and pond two is just shy of one mile. both are connected bye a tunnel under the road. pond one is about 20 feet deep with undercut banks and alot of structure. pond two is about 15 feet deep with three little coves filled with lilly pads and at the end of pond two it opens to a circular pond jam packed with duck weed and lilly pads.with a tiny creek at the end. i have caught fish in pond two in the lilly pads at the end of the pond. but not having luck in pond one. fishing report above was pond one. why cant i catch fish in pond one but i can in pond two??? im not familiar with fishing such open water like pond one. any advice would be greatly appreciated
  7. Was on a small local lake here in east Tennessee yesterday and had to share. Figured the fishing would be kind of tough due to high sky's after the rain storm the day before. Actually wasn't to bad. Had a three and a four pound largemouth so wasn't bad. Did set the hook with an a-rig and just flat couldn't move what I had on. The strike was even vicious. After a few seconds in the clear water got the fish or fish's up to where I could see and there were two down there. One dark object shook and swam away and I landed a fat smallie pushing 18". The one swimming away was much bigger!!! Will not do estimates but dang.....it was much bigger. Was exciting...wanted to share...tight lines all and enjoy the weather.

  10. Yesterday my friend Facebook me about a pond on Southlake Blvd beside Napa Auto Parts. He said that a guy landed a 10 pound BASS! So I marked the location on Google maps then asked my dad to drive me there, but he was unsure that it was public. The pond was behind some businesses. So you had to park at one of the buildings to access the pond, but they don't really care. So we parked at some real estate place. Once I got there I saw geese poop everywhere...yuck! But that's the only horrible thing about this pond. You can almost walk around the pond. Also, there was some lay-downs to fish and you can skip chatterbaits under trees that hang over the water! To left of that peninsula, the water is very deep..i think it holds catfish I saw some bass eating dragonflies so threw a strike king rage tail toad. The first cast I got a 17 inch bass. 30 minutes with no luck so I changed to a fluke. I cast it out there about 10 times. While I was twitching it back, out of nowhere a bass smashed it about 3 feet away from me. It scared the crap out of me then I started to scream like a girl lol The bass was about 18 inches. Unfortunately, I have only 1 hour to fish :/ So i left. Water Temp: 80 Air Temp: 84 Lure: Rage Tail Toad and Fluke Time of day: Evening
