  1. Model - E25RERC I found that this motor has a temp switch that traces back to the power pack. However, I can't find a buzzer or horn of any kind. All the wires that come from the power pack are in use, going to the stator, coils, and ground. So am I missing something? And if there is no buzzer, what happens when it overheats? Does it short the power pack and shut the engine down? That's my only guess at this point.
  2. Friend has a 2014 Evinrude Etec 115 horse on his boat. At wot it goes about 38 mph according to the speedometer and fish locaters GPS. At wot of 38 mph after a few mins it usually throttles down on it’s own to about 36mph for no reason. If you throttle back and then throttle up to wot again it goes back up to 38mph. If you don’t it will just keep going at the slower speed. Whats going on here?
  3. Hope everyone is able to enjoy the spring bass slayin. Trying to get the boat on the water and I’ve run into an adapter I need for my engine controls. I have a 1995 Johnson 90 which I’m trying to control with a newer set of controls. Looking for the adapter that converts new wiring harness to 96 and older. I have found it on a few websites already but being new to the boating world I’m not too savvy on trusted, reputable and inexpensive websites for marine products. Any direction would be great and thank you in advanced. Adapter product number: CDI423-6344
  4. Looking at the prowler 175. I have two dealers in the area to shop at. I had wanted to get the prowler with an evinrude e-tec 75hp. so here is how they lay out: Cabelas will order it for me. Evinrude 75hp with a 55lb minnkota and a garmin 7sv boat dealer has a prowler in stock. Suzuki 70hp with a 55lb minnkota and a hummingbird 7si Prices are similar, but when I was shopping I was looking for the E-tec 75hp. I guess my question is should I stick with the Evinrude and order it, or should I go with the Suzuki? Another factor would be that the closest Evinrude service center besides that cabelas is a couple hours away, and the Suzuki is only 30 minutes.
  5. Hey guys, I am no mechanic or even really mechanically inclined by any means, so I figured I would ask around here and see if anyone can help me identify a strange issue my old 2 Stroke Evinrude is having. Mind you this motor is from 1986, and is a cantankerous little machine - noisy, loud, and ugly as sin. When I shift into forward and am travelling below about 60% throttle the boat intermittently 'kicks' forward almost as if I have bumped the throttle up real quick then it seems to drop out of gear, before catching back up to the set throttle speed. It's definitely a strange action that occurs every 45 seconds or so. When travelling on plane at full speed this issue does not occur at all, and the ride is normal, with no kicking. Any thoughts? I'm not sure if this is a motor issue, a throttle cable issue, or something else entirely.
  6. I've been considering picking up an RT188 and getting back into fishing after about a 10 year hiatus. I'm planning to wait for a 2016 model as I'd like to keep saving and pay cash if possible and I heard the Ranger boat show or something is next month, so we'll see. My question is about the outboard motor choices since you can equip with several. Maybe I haven't done enough research but the Evinrude 115DGL was seemingly a good choice and I came across some favorable reviews. I know every brand has their problems here and there but when I reached out to a dealer they told me they wouldn't order with an Evinrude. I kept pushing and they relented and said they could one-off order it but that they would never stock one that way. Said they are a Yamaha/Mercury/Suzuki dealer and Evinrude "isn't what it used to be". So, what are your thoughts here? I'm sure they have their reasons whatever it may be (troubles with product or better incentives to sell others, who knows), but I can't tell, so I'd like a second opinion so to speak. Ranger seems fond of the Evinrude outboards. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance!
  7. I'm hoping someone on here has an older boat, or some knowledge on them! I have an older Evinrude (25 I think?) with push button start and stops on it. However, they are on the engine, so I have to climb back there, push them, then come back up to the steering wheel to drive, then back there again to stop the motor. Is there any way to add a cable system or some type of conversion to make the engine start and stop from the cockpit rather than physically on the motor? I was thinking of something similar to a camera's plunger type shutter release made to thread over each button, and then having the controls on the dash. I'm not sure if they make something like that or if it's up to me to engineer! Thanks in advance, Zach
  8. Wanted to see what you all think of the new Evinrude E-Tec G2? I know it will make some very picky guys happy since you can match the sideplates and accent colors...to the boat! Your thoughts?
  9. I'm at a loss trying to find a replacement for my tilt trim motor. The model number of the engine is 115593E. It's a 1975 Evinrude 115. Recently bought the boat and this was the only thing wrong. I'm guessing he backed into something. All bent. Is it feasible to find a replacement? Do I replace the whole assembly? Sorry about no pics. I tried. The Motor has an axle that protrudes into the hydraulic section about 3.5 inches. I mention this because I haven't seen any like this when I try to look them up. The bottom half of the assembly has the numbers 317016. Thanks, -Nate
