  1. https://imgur.com/gallery/QEa3kjd Taking a look at my terminal tackle box for this year. Realized that I was carrying way too much. So this year I decided to do some diy and follow a path of Mr. Adam Savage and his concept of “first order or retrievability” ie. The things I need are put where I can get them without having to open or move other things. Decided to go with Eva foam to hold the hooks firmly so they don’t move and provide neat organization. Also went much smaller as I found I only use a few hooks per trip so carrying a 20 of the same hook was pointless (hehe) and just extra weight. Always keep a bigger box with spares in the car in case. Have you guys used split foam boxes (Gammy split foam box) in the past? What do you think?
  2. Hey BR, Sharing a DIY tip for anglers who love to throw swimbaits and underspins like the Owner Flashy swimmer. Hope you like it! JN
  3. I made this so i didn't have to spool line on my reels with my feet anymore lol.
  4. I have almost everything I need to make my own crank-baits. Can anyone tell me to get some good cheap stainless steel wire? I plan on making lures that can catch a 4 pound bass or so.
  5. I have two cheap chinese so called bite alarms. They are only good for shark fishing because normal size fish can't trigger the alarm. Even cat fish couldn't. So, I'm think of creating a simple carp bite alarm. I stuck on the sensor part. What would you recommend? PC mice rotary encoder is not good for this. To use a reed sensor the cercuit needs to be modified, which I don't want to mess with. Any other ideas? Thanks.
  6. From the album: Kayak Mods

front view of the pvc drilled onto the dashboard
  7. From the album: Kayak Mods

took a store-bought clamp on rod holder and integrated it onto a dashboard that is held to the kayak by the original clamp from the rod holder
  8. From the album: Kayak Mods

zip tied rod holders and pliers/fish grip holders to it
  9. From the album: Kayak Mods

mounted on the back of my kayak *no drilling into the kayak was required whatsoever*
  10. From the album: Kayak Mods

  11. I am looking for a cheap DIY shallow water anchor for my first boat (Alumacraft V16). I found a 8ft Fiberglass pole on *** for $65 (TnA shallow water anchor pole). they say you can tie rite to a cleat but i feel like that puts a lot of unnecessary load on the fiberglass pole. They sell a bracket for the transom for $100, but i feel like thats a lot plus it might be in the way of my boat cover (I leave it in the water for the entire summer). Any Ideas????
  12. I have an opportunity to buy an aluminum stripped down Bass Tracker for a very low price. The seller is only asking $300 with a trailer. It is pretty bare bones though containing only the decking due to it having been stolen and stripped. The thing that concerns me with this boat is it is missing a rib and does leak some. I am not sure which rib it is yet as I have not seen the boat yet. I will only be using this boat with an electric trolling motor so I am not concerned about getting on plane or the weight of an outboard either. It will limit me to what I can use the boat for but my local lake is easily fished with only a trolling motor and for the low price think it may be worth the investment. What are your opinions if this boat will hold up for a few years just cruising around with the electric motor. Should I save the money and just start with a better aluminum hull and build my own deck in it?
  13. I have saved up some serious Bass Pro points and am considering cashing them in on a trolling motor recessed foot tray. I have two questions for someone with experience installing them: Is the brad available at Bass Pro "everything bass flat foot" worth the money they are asking (140.00+ dollars)? I have an Xpress H17SS, spray in liner no carpet. Has anyone installed a tray on this make/model and is there any "hidden" issues like deck reinforcements etc. Thanks for your feed back!
  14. Anyone have any experience mounting a trolling motor on a kayak? If so, what method did you use (there are dozens of different ways on the web) and what did you like/dislike about that method. I have a 30lb Minn Kota and a Deep cycle marine battery/box at home from an old inflatable boat I used it on. I would like to rig that same unit up on my Ascend FS10 Sit in 10' Kayak. This would allow me to cover more water on the larger lakes and get to the fishing hole quicker. Once at the hole, I would likely just use the paddle but it sure would be nice to use the motor to cover some ground. Thanks for your input!
