  1. I just bought my son a Lew's Speed Spool LFS (SS1SHA70MH) for graduation. It's rated at 120/12 line capacity. I'm new to baitcasters and am looking to get him spooled up with the best possible line. He will be doing bass fishing in fairly, sometimes pretty, heavy cover with a ton of pike around. Am I right to buy 30# braid with 12# fluoro leader? Or would 30# braid with 15# fluoro leader? Also, he will have the ability to use swimming baits as cover allows. Is 30# braid and 12# fluoro leader right for occasional swimbaits on this 120/12 reel? I'm trying to keep in mind the 120/12 line capacity but am struggling to find diameter charts for mono vs. fluoro vs. braid. I would appreciate any and all feedback! Thanks!!!
  2. i know you should closely match the hook diameter to the thickness of the line you are using, right? because too thin a line and too thick a hook, you can easily break the line or knot. and vise-versa you can straighten or unbend the hook. my question is, i use 6 or 8lb (i dont remember) silverline co-polymer line on my 6'6ft medium light spinning rod. with a shimano sahara 2500 reel. i like to use finesse worms and senkos, drop shotting and no hooking wacky rig etc etc.. what hooks are o.k. to use with such thin line? i have 1 o/t offset worm hooks, and size 2, 4 and 6 octopus and baitholder hooks... are these okay? or is there a super thin wire hook for such line?
  3. Hey fellas, I have a question about putting 12lb Tatsu FC line on a 2500 spinning reel if it is the same line diameter as 8lb Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon. I ask this because I plan on using this reel on a St. Croix Rage 6'8" MXF rod and I plan to use this rod for drop shots, worms, and stick baits. A lot of guys run 8lb line on this setup, but if Tatsu is rated at 12lb and has a smaller diameter than most lines will it affect my lures action in anyway? I only ask this cause I bought 3 spools of 12lb Tatsu while TW had a sale going on, so this would save me some money from having to order to more line. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance, Sam
