  1. What are everyone's thoughts about the new St Croix Victory series? Did you buy one? I'm purposely holding off until I read more reviews on them. I've heard mixed reviews. I'm in the market for a crankbait rod and I don't know whether I like the 7'2" MH Power Target Crank rod or if I should go with a MH Legend Glass rod instead... what have you heard about the new rod series (any model)? Do you own any Legend Glass rods? Or mojo glass? Should I go with the tried and true or try something new?
  2. What do you guys think of this rod? Is there a specific model you'd use for crankbaits? I'm still looking for a crankbait rod, and I keep going back to the Cabelas Tournament ZX; but I haven't made a decision yet. Still lots of time to decide as I'm waiting for the next big sale.
  3. Just watched a Christmas story and could not help myself. I did not win the leg. Actually I entered KastKing's holiday gift giveaway and received an e-mail stating I won a prize. Today a Speed demon pro crankbait rod was delivered to my door. I put my spare Tatula loaded with 12 pound Flouorokote line on it and proceeded playing around in the yard. It is a very nice rod. It will see a lot of action, throwing rattle traps. Can't wait to try it out. Ironically I almost bought this same rod a couple weeks ago, but decided to wait until after the holidays.
  4. Looking at getting a crankbait rod to handle mid to deep diving baits. Got it narrowed down to the bps crankin stick 7’10” mh composite, and the Fenwick elite tech 7’8” mh mod graphite rod. Both rods are rated for 3/8-1 1/2 oz baits. I can find both for arounyd $100, so which one is the better bang for your buck?
  5. I finally got to hold some Dobyn’s Champion casting rods in hand. They felt really good in hand and seemed to be of great quality. They had some of their crankbait rods but they were the graphite versions. I’m curious to know if the glass crankbait rods that they offer are full out glass or composite?
  6. So I'm wondering if u guys have any suggestions for a cranking rod dedicated to throwing 6XDs, and 3/4oz lipless cranks. Unfortunately being a student I can't afford a really nice cranking rod so I've set my budget at $120. Ive considered the Lews David fritts 7'6" glass composit rod but idk anyone who has used it personally. What do u guys think?
  7. Hey guys! So this is going to be my first post on Bass Resource.com, but I really want to find a good Crankbait Rod that is ideal for squarebills, 6-10 medium divers, and lipless crankbaits under the 180$ range. The two rods that I have been looking at is the Duckett Micro Magic Pro 7' Medium Crankbait Rod and the Castaway Skeleton V2 7' Medium Crankbait rod. I have 1 other duckett rod and I love the feel of it and I like the micro guides, but I have also heard really good things about the castaway as well. Also, for a reel, I want a somewhat slow gear ratio real ex(5.5:1, 5.3:1). The reel I have been looking at is the Daiwa Tatula CT Casting reel in 5.5:1. Any thoughts on that reel? Any input is appreciated, Tight Lines!
  8. I'm 5'7 and only fish from the shore. i'm wondering if a 6'6 rod will be to small for cranks.
  9. Wondering how this rod handles: -lipless crankbaits (1/2 oz red eye shad & rattle traps) -shallow to mid depth crankbaits (1/4 - 3/8 oz - most concerned about the 1/4 oz) I can pair it with a citica 200e, curado 200e, or a curado 50e. Planned on using braid being as this rod is moderate action.
  10. Hello all, would like some thoughts on a new crankin stick. Definitely not my dominant style of fishing but looking to do more of it in the coming year. Typically will throw shallow and medium divers around 3/8 - 1/2 oz. I prefer a 7'- 7'3" rod. Was most recently using a Shimano Clarus 7M. Liked the feel but hated the short handle, I like casting with 2 hands. Would like to keep it under 200 and currently considering: - Phoenix x10 - lucky craft fat mini magic - *** *** crank - Lews tournament micro (good review on ***) Any thoughts on these or other cranking rods? Definitely appreciate any feedback.
  11. Alright, so I am looking for a crankbait rod. That could basically work the whole spectrum of cranks. Though i'm looking for something that is good with medium and deep divers around (15-20ft.) I am not spending a lot on a glass rod at the moment, so my two choices are between a rod at regular price and one that is on sell. Both are crankbait rods -Powell Diesel 7' med hvy -Daiwa Ballistic 7'2" med hvy Which one would you choose. I was going to get the powell until i saw the good deal on the Ballistic. So give me your opinions! Thanks, Zach
