  1. Okay, so after fishing with the LFS for a few weeks now, i’m not completely sold on it, the thumb bar sometimes jams on me, and the reeling just sometimes feels like sand is stuck in it and it’s grinding, so right now i can either exchange it for another LFS (maybe i got an unlucky one) or exchange for SLX or pay difference for a Curado K... so is the curado K worth the extra money or is the SLX the better buy? I’m leaning more towards the curado simply for the looks of it, and i heard it’s extremely smooth.
  2. Hey so i will soon have both combos and i was wondering on opinions on which one is better/ like more in YOUR opinion, i know both are really good especially for the price, but i just want to know what other people would prefer (side note: i got the slx combo for 130ish and the fuego combo for 180ish), lastly would you say for the fuego combo it is worth the extra 50 in my case (it looks better in my opinion, but idk about performance)
  3. I bought 3 new spinning reels in last week or so. Kinda having my own little comparison test. All within $10 of costing $50. They're all 2500/3000 size range. Pflueger President, Pflueger Trion and Shimano Sahara. Hadn't really fished em yet. Just playing with em around the house. So far, I like the Pfluegers best. Problem with the Sahara is the little switch you flip to backreel is oddly placed and teeny-tiny. I've found the best casting setup to be braid with a floro or mono leader. Couple are spooled up straight copoly but probably change them to braid eventually. It's just so smooth casting. I was tossing the Sahara with 10-lb Power Pro and man it's accurate.
  4. Hey guys I don’t know which to get, the revo at $125 or the revo at $200, they’re on sale for $65(cheaper revo)and $110(expensive revo). I’m not sure how much difference there is between the two and if I should just save some money and get the $65 one or get a, advertised as higher quality, $200 revo
  5. So I have a dilemna. The Shimano Curado I and the Lew's Custom Speed Spool are the same price and on sale for 40% off. Which one would you recommend, they both feel nice in my hand. The gear ratios are 7.2.1 and 7.5.1 so very similar. If I were to buy one it would go on my frog rod. What do you guys suggest? Does anybody own both of them?
  6. I am looking to add another rod to my line up. I would like to get a set up for lighter baits, like weightless light. I could also use it for fishing finesse jigs and what have you since I live in Minnesota. Although I'm looking for more input on the reel side, I should probably say that I am planning to get something like a 6'10" to 7'0" medium fast action rod. Possibly the newer Ducket Triad since I really like my Micro Magic. So as I mentioned before I need a lightweight reel that can cast light weight baits well. I have recently fallen in love with Daiwa, I bought a Tatula CT and a CT Type-R. So far I have narrowed my search to the new Tatula SV TWS because of the SV spool, and the solid platform. I also have really caught the itch for the Daiwa T3. I know it's not a new reel, but it can be found new on Ebay fairly easily. I would like to hear any and all of you guy's thoughts on all of the models like the T3 Ballistic, MX, 1016 and so on. Unfortunately the T3 SV looks to be much more expensive. Like I said, I would love to hear your thoughts on my narrowed choices, as well as some other recommendations if you have any. Thanks!
  7. Good Afternoon everyone, I am looking for some advice. I currently have a Revo Rocket for flipping, but to me that thing is just too fast! So, I am debating about selling it off and buying a Diawa Tatula Type-R and upgrading the bearings (and worm shaft worms, if I remember correctly, the original Type-R had a plastic sleeve on the worm shaft). I have used the old, generation one Tat at my local tackle store with a casting weight on it, just flipping for practice and it made flipping very easy. So, people how have the Rocket, do you also have a Tatula Type- R, and pros and cons of each. Also, the Diawa fanboy club, what would be the best upgrades to enhance the reels performance? Thanks for your time in reading and responding to my post, Wdy
  8. hey everyone, I am thinking about picking up one of these reels and looking for some comparisons, notes, feelings from people that own, or have used these reels. The application will be shakey heads, weightless 4" senkos, finesse fishing of courseetc. Some river smallmouth fishing will be seen by these reels, but mostly bass fishing and tournaments. The rod it will go on is a Powell Endurance 6103. I have researched both of these reels extensively and know all the numbers, IPT, weight, etc, but that does not give me an opinion from use. Thanks for the time helping me out, Wdy
  9. Is it worth getting a Tatula over the Lexa? I have a Tatula and love it, but am really looking into a Lexa. The Lexa is just smaller and easier to palm, but also for some reason a little heavier (which I don't really care about).
  10. I have been buying and trying a couple different reels, like the Lew's Tournament MG and the Daiwa Tatula. To be completely honest i was not that impressed with the casting distance of the Tatula (given i was in my yard, with both reels) It seems like i could bomb a half oz. jig with half the effort with my Tournament MG on half breaks, whereas i had the Tatula on almost freespool! (2). So what i'm getting at, is I'm trying to find reels in the $100-$150 price range. My first reel, a while back was a Blackmax, it can cast really far, but it seemed very finicky and picky for me. So i have been eyeing up the SX, mostly because of the deeper capacity than a Lew's Tournament and I'm pretty sure it can cast well and far. I would just stick with tournament mg's but it seems like everyone on here thinks the regular Tourny's are much better, by looking at the specs, I can't find too much of a difference except it has a wiffle/smaller capacity spool, dual cast adjustment, looks a little different, and i think that's about it. Sorry I'm kind of rambling. Something about Abu and their reels really gets me. I constantly eye them up, but never pull the trigger. Probably half my problem is when i read reviews on Tackletour, it's like every reel but Daiwa and Shimano is bad... (except Lew's.) The quality of Lew's is great. I just want to try something else. I heard the gen. 2 SX reels were better, but I'm looking at gen. 3. So what do you guys think of the new generation SX, and think i should do? The S could possibly be an option, but i'd probably rather by an Orra SX for that matter. Thanks. I appreciate it, if you bared with me during that post, haha!
  11. Anybody have thoughts on why Lew's has two "workhorse" reels? I'm looking to pick one of these up, and I'm wondering which one is better. They seem really similar. Price doesn't really concern me, i'm mainly wondering why Lew's has two reels so similar, and which one you guys would recommend.
  12. Hey guys, just giving you my input for whatever its worth. I took my new Revo S (3rd generation) out for the second time and decided to compare it to my new Chronarch that I've had for about 3 months. Now I know the Chronarch is $70.00 more than the Revo S but I thought I would set both up as close to identical as I could. I put both reels on identical Veritas Winch Rods and threw the samel 3/8 oz. crankbait on both. After casting both reels for approximately 50 casts each at the same target, I have to say that the Revo S held up pretty well as far as distance. The Chronarch was getting an extra 2 feet or so but both were casting the 3/8 oz crankbait a very long way. As far as smoothness the Chronarch might have the edge but not by much. After I completed my amateur casting test, I went back and forth fishing both reels all day long. I really feel that Abu Garcia hit this one out of the park with the new Revo S. I feel for the $129.00 price tag, it can stand up with the $200.00 price range reels. Now we will just have to see if they hold up longevity wise with the Shimanos. The way they feel, I think they just might. Just my 2 cents worth.
