  2. Hi, everybody ! I've got a $100 Bass Pro Gift card for my birthday. And I'd like to buy Rod and Reel for Largemouth Bass fishing. What best I can get from Bass Pro for $100 ? What do you think about this combo ? http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Tourney-Special-Spinning-Combo-7-Medium-Power/product/1408280630271/#desc-tab Thank you all !
  3. My question is as follows: What do y’all use or think is a good size rod for a 6:3:1 baitcaster reel with the intent to use crankbaits on it such as the DT-6 and DT-10? I have heard a 7’ to 7’ 2” power: medium and action:moderate is a good rod for crankbait fishing. What are your thoughts or personal setups?
  4. So this week bass pro is starting their spring classic sale... they are running a deal where if you buy the carbonlite reel you get the rod for free. This essentially saves $120, but on top of that if you trade in a reel you can the carbonlite reel for only 100 dollars. Does anybody have experience with the rod and reel and would you recommend it? There's not too much out there on the carbonlite 2.0 so I was just wondering if I'm getting a good deal here.
  5. Hello BR, I've been trapped inside for over two weeks now wishing I could go fishing but, since I am still 14 and my parents don't want me to leave home under any circumstance I am stuck here. I have been spending my time on Amazon looking at fishing rods and lures, that are wayyyy to expensive for me to buy. I've seen multiple budget rods and reel by this company called KastKing, I have see there products on YouTube and they seem to be some great budget rods and reels. Has anybody had good experience with this company? I've been wanting to buy a KastKing Royale Select Fishing Rod, Casting Rod 7ft 6in-Extra Heavy - Fast-1pc which is only $60 with a coupon, paired with a KastKing Royale Legend II Baitcasting Reel, Gear Ratio 7.2:1, Left Handed Fishing Reel ($40). And some (a bit excessive) 80lb P-Line TCB Braid, which I got on sale for only $5!! For big swimbaits and hopefully pike and muskie. I've also been looking at the ABU GARCIA® MAXTORO COMBO 7'6" Heavy. For only $210 which hopefully I will get for my birthday in two months. (I also have been thinking of buying a ton of lures from Ali-Express) Has anybody tried any of these Rods & Reels? Does anybody have a recommendation for a Budget Combo? Any help is greatly appreciated, Martin Sierra
  6. I’m considering buying Megabass Levante on perfect pitch paired with Shimano Curado 200K for jigging/small frogging/flipping, but do you think the rod is too light for flipping/small frogging? I’m considering spooling up with 50lb braid.
  7. Hi all Here is my first post I just joined the FISHING WORLD 2 moths ago I got two Shakespeare combos from Walmart for $40 each, but the screws got rusted in one month and i returned them both. I have a Walmart gift cart and want to buy two other combos for my wife and myself up to 60 each. My fishing preferences: Local lakes and inshore, piers. Reel: 25-35 Rod: 2 pieces, 6' - 7' line: Braid + Fluorocarbon leader Hook: Hard top-water and shallow lures Which one of these Walmart options would you recommend? Link, $34, Daiwa D-Shock Freshwater Spinning Combo, DSK25-2B/F663M, 2 Bearings, 6'6" 3 Piece Rod, Medium Power Link, $47 (was $53), Daiwa Revros Freshwater Spinning Combo, REV20-4BI/G562L, 4RB+1RB Bearings, 5'6" Length, 2 Piece Rod, Light Power Link, $64 (was $80), Okuma Ceymar Spinning Combo, C-662M-30, Medium with 30 Size Reel, Link, $45, Okuma Safina Pro Fishing Combo, SPA-662-35, Link, $41, Okuma Safina 25 Tarvos 6'6 2Pc Medium - TV662MLSPA25 Thanks for inputs in advance Ali
  8. So, I’ve been contemplating replacing my first baitcasting combo (Black Max) with something better. It’s a great combo, and I still plan on using it for throwing frogs and fishing a heavily weeded local pond, but after fishing my M combo that’s got a Daiwa Tatula CT on it, I find it lacking. Some YouTube guys I watch do a yearly gift guide and recently covered combos for under $200. Their suggestion was a Dobyns Fury or Shimano Exage paired with a Shimano Casitas 150. So, my question is, does anyone have experience with those particular pieces of gear? I’m interested in hearing it all - the good, the bad, and the ugly. I’ve never fished a Shimano reel before. How would that Casitas fish in comparison to my Tatula CT? I can almost always find another one of those on eBay for about $89, but the Casitas would cost me a bit more barring a good Black Friday deal. Thanks! Any and all input would be appreciated!
  9. i am a relatively new fisherman and love the information on this forum. Unfortunately, i'm also a broke a** college student and need to upgrade from my 10 year old $25 combo. I'm looking for a solid MHF 7-7'2 rod ( needs to be good for all around fishing, which is why i picked this), for under $80. I would prefer a solid $40-$60 rod, but if its a great deal will consider up to 80, so please refrain from the "spend $20 more and get a ..." as i really don't have the cash.. Also looking for a quality reel, same range. Any sales on nice equipment would be VITAL (and preferred), or any combos that offer a solid deal on rod and reel as well. I just missed out on a $60 sellus and sedona combo at dicks and am very ticked, so that is pretty much my standard for deals, I figured someon on here can help me find where the major deals are. Thanks guys, happy fishing
  10. Can someone tell me if this reel (http://m.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Abu-Garcia-Revo-STX-Spinning-Reel-REVO2STX10&i=912087) would be a good pair for this rod (http://m.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=St-Croix-Legend-Tournament-Bass-Casting-Rod-610-Medium-Light&i=451547) I really don't have time to check. Anything would be great. Also I'd appreciate any alternate suggestions.

  12. I'm looking to get a bait casting setup. Would the Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth rod with the Abu Garcia Revo STX Low Profile reel work well together? I only have a spinning setup right now (cheap light/medium rod and reel from fleet farm) so it kind of needs to fill the roles that my current one can't. Thanks in advance!
  13. Hi guys and gals I'll try to keep this short and simple. I'm new to fishing, have a super tight budget and just wanna have fun with a somewhat dependable setup. I'd like to show you what i'm looking at and have someone help me disseminate what's best and worst of the group. 1) http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Tourney-Special-Rod-and-Reel-Baitcast-Combo/product/2254710/ 2) http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=65167646 3) https://www.amazon.com/Lews-Fishing-American-Heroes-Baitcast/dp/B00PB7J1DE/ref=sr_1_4?s=hunting-fishing&ie=UTF8&qid=1468902587&sr=1-4&keywords=reel+rod+combo&refinements=p_n_feature_nine_browse-bin%3A6680030011%2Cp_36%3A5000-10000 4) https://www.amazon.com/Shakespeare-Elite-Baitcast-Combo-Medium/dp/B011LUVLZU/ref=sr_1_12?s=hunting-fishing&ie=UTF8&qid=1468902308&sr=1-12&keywords=reel+rod+combo&refinements=p_n_feature_nine_browse-bin%3A6680030011 Or a non combo, something like this. 5) https://www.amazon.com/Shakespeare-Casting-8-20-Pound-6-Feet-Medium/dp/B00F0KLSBA/ref=sr_1_5?s=hunting-fishing&ie=UTF8&qid=1468903303&sr=1-5&keywords=baitcasting+rod&refinements=p_72%3A1248957011%2Cp_n_feature_nine_browse-bin%3A6680030011%2Cp_n_feature_keywords_five_browse-bin%3A7933066011|7933065011%2Cp_36%3A2000-5000 with https://www.amazon.com/Baitcasting-Fishing-Bearings-Baitcast-Baitcaster/dp/B011WM9D7A/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
  14. Hi, I was wanting to get a new setup and wanted to get a Shimano Chronarch ci4+ and an Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 Rod (just an idea). What is a good Rod and Reel combo? I also like the *** *** or C low profile. Thank you.
  15. A friend of mine is getting into bass fishing. What would the best baitcasting combo for him to learn on that would cost around $100 or less? I know you generally get what you pay for with baitcasters but wondering if there was a good combo out there that would be good for a beginner, or even getting rod/reel separately that wouldn't break the bank?
  16. Hey guys, I'm relatively new to fishing. I've fished very casually for a couple years, but I'm starting to get more serious. I'm looking to mostly fish bass/blues topwater in CT/RI. Friend of mine recommended the setup I'm asking about, but I have a question. I'm getting this rod (http://www.tackledirect.com/croixps70hf.html) and was curious which of these reels (http://www.tackledirect.com/penn-spinfisher-v-spinning-reels.html) was the correct one to match with it? Thanks.
  17. So I am very new to bass fishing and I would like to buy a baitcasting rod and reel combo. I have about 60-80 dollars to spend. So what do you guys think?
  18. Anybody have any input on a inexpensive rod/reel combo for catfish or musky? Under $100 -BeenReel
  19. Hello everyone. I'm getting ready to fish this spring, and I need a new rod! I don't have enough money for multiple rods like some people, since I am only a teen. I can only get one rod to go fishing this spring and summer! I was wondering if you could give me your opinions on what is a great relatively cheap overall rod and reel combo for me. (Baitcaster or spinning? Length, action, etc.?) it would also be helpful if you could give some specific examples, too! My friends and I usually fish for mostly medium sized largemouth bass, occasionally catfish, and medium sized sunnies every once in a while. All of your ideas and opinions are greatly appreciated AND I would love to hear what you think! Thanks!
  20. What are your guys thoughts on the Mitchell 300 Pro Spinning Combo found at Cabela's and Gandter Mtn.?
  21. Hey guys, I've used my same rod all my life and sadly it has broken...so now im going to spoil myself to a new somewhat nice rod and reel. My budget is around $150...does anyone have any suggestions??
  22. Looking for the best bass fly fishing combo for a good price and also acceptable quality.
  23. I picked up this combo from Gander's First Cast sale for $80. It will be my first dedicated frog set up and my first season using bait-casters. I was wondering line selection; Braid obviously but what lb test and brand for frogging do you prefer? Thanks http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=GSX-Elite-Low-Profile-Casting-Combo-7-Medium-Heavy&i=711343 Model # GSX-E70MHC-1 Rod Length 7' Rod Power Medium-Heavy Reel Gear Ratio 7.3:1 Bearings 11
  24. Just got my new rod/reel combo.....i've been bass fishing for about a year now first time i fished for a bass was june of 2012 (live on long island so that means prob have only fished for bass for 3 months total. I am now gearing up for the start of my full first season i was previously fishing a bass pro shops trigger rod and a bass pro shops extreme baitcaster (green and gold model) which i got for a combined $100 dollars. I have since broken the rod as on my last fish of the season my rod snapped and i have thrown out the entire combo (horrible reel ) so i ordered a new combo an Abu Garcia Veritas (micro guide series) in 7ft medium (previous was a 6'6" medium but i was advised 7 foot is more versatile) and a bass pro shops pro qualifier bait caster in 7.1:1 have it strung up with 12lb yo - zuri hybrid (previously used 12lb trilene xl mono) just wondering if i made a good decision and wondering what my next rod/reel should be and what line? I fish mostly every style (weighted and unweighted plastics, shaky head, drop shot, crainkbaits, jigs, swim jigs, frogs. spooks, poppers, torpedoes)
