  1. Ive been looking for a good light line for my spinning gear, for fishing a very clear water lake that I've been fishing for several years. I've been using 6lb mono in different brands for years, but always on the lookout to improve my line. Many have recommended this Yo Zuri Hybrid line here on BR. I ordered two spools, one 6lb and one 4lb. I've spooled the 4lb on a med spinning rod. This 4lb has a break strength of around 7lbs or more. Fishing small plastics. Grubs, 4" worms, tube, etc, this line handles very well. Great casting, and excellent knot strength. Good durability, and abrasion resistance also. I haven't used any line conditioner, and I don't think I'll need it. The line handles good as it is. This Yo Zuri is affordable also. As for being more sensitive? That's hard to say? I'm using a sweep/ reel hookset, which works best with this line. If you need a lighter line for clear water fishing, this should work well for you. Im liking it so far, and plan on fishing this one until my lake freezes over this season.
  2. This post is a result of my indecision that lead to stressful overthinking. When I ask the following question, consider these factors: I fish one of the shallow finger lakes with lots of vegetation mainly eurasian milfoil, the best places to flip are in the milfoil and under boat docks, the water is ultra clear in the morning and throughout the day progressively gets greener (a light stain caused by gloeotrichia rising from bottom), flipping baits that I’ve used and had moderate success with: D-Bomb, Baby D-Bomb, Pit Boss, Bronco Bug, Sweet Beaver. I like one that has little to no action and glides like a traditional beaver, as well as one that has some more action to it but has less action than a craw style bait. The question: not including craws and tubes; if you could only choose 2 different beaver style baits each in 3 different colors to cover all the conditions listed above, what would you choose? And why?
  3. I recently bought a fishing kayak and have a trip planned in a few days on a clear water fishery. 10ft+ visibility. Weather is looking like clear skies and low wind. I've only ever been a pond bank fisherman so I have way more confidence in dirty water than I do clear. Big jigs, big spinnerbaits, big creatures baits are my usual, connected to 15-20lb mono leaders. What should I try using in clear water? I have some underspins, small t-rigged craw and worms, smaller spinnerbaits, would those work?
  4. I have recently just got into fishing and I am very new at pretty much all of this. I rarely know any good spots (any spots at all actually) to fish except busy parks. I am looking for nice spots to fish primarily bass. I really would like to find a clear water spot, however I’m just looking for anything. I don’t have access to a boat. Thanks for the help in advance.
  5. Alright guys, I know this topic has been covered, but every spots different. I reguarily fish a quarry that I figure can't be deeper than 20 or so feet. I hit weed beds dead center on a 10-14 feet crank bait, I can't tell for sure but I can guess it's 15-30 feet dead center. The water itself is clear, and it's fished often. My question is what should I be doing differently. The rock walls are too far away to reach from one point and one rock wall doesn't start until about 15 feet into water where it cuts off 1 foot to, just open open water. I know fish are in there, they just don't bite.
  6. The Megabass Vision 110 is a great jerkbait. I have had some success with the GG Perch OB in clear water. What are some other colors that produce in clear water? Any input is greatly appreciated!
  7. I have been told the best place to find fish during this time of year is to find the clearest water on the lake. Regardless if this is true or not I have never been told how to find this without running all day long looking. I know the wind and bottom content have to do with it but I don't have a process that I know will point me toward the clearest water without taking a lot of time looking. What process do you use to find the clearest water?
  8. Hi there.... So for the past few years I have been fishing on a super clear lake that doesn't allow gas powered engines. It's not a very deep lake- it's mostly about 8-10 feet, but there's only one small section that 25 feet deep. The last couple of years I switched up colors and started using junebug, PB&J and black/blue and out fished all of my friends. It seems counter intuitive that dark colors would work so well on a clear lake regardless if it's sunny or overcast. I am hoping to gain some insights on why this is happening and any recommendations on other lures/colors to use. Thank you!
  9. I just found out a bout a pond that has ultra clear water . It has a deep drop offs on the edges of the pond the pond bottom is very rocky and has a few fallen down trees as lay downs . If you could fish there what would you throw it it currently Mid October in the mid west . What would you throw ?
  10. Hey yall I am getting ready to go fish some pretty clear water in a couple of weeks and was looking for some advice since I fish nothing but dirty water. I fished there last summer for a little bit but not much success unless it was dark out. The lake is a naturally cold lake that is visible 6-10ft in most places. Any advice on how to fish in this type of water would be greatly appreciated.

  12. Alright guys, I wanna hear from some Hoosier bass fisherman here. I have a friend who happens to live near an old flooded gravel pit with some super clean clear water. Limited shallow cover, lots of deep water with weeds and rocks. I have caught several largemouth from here that have been up to 5 pounds. In the past I have had limited success and never really been able to figure it out and catch bass consistently. Typically my confidence baits are jigs, squarebills and texas rigged soft plastic creature baits. All of these have caught "some" fish here but I would love some tips for very clear water. What do you guys have success with on clear, deep bodies of water?
  13. Went out yesterday and fished a senko and spinnerbait under some docks and lay downs. No luck. Zero. I usually catch at least one fish. The temp was 81 degrees. Water at 62 degrees. Barometric pressure at 31.04. Water clarity was about 1.5 to 2 feet. What do you guys have luck with on these kind of days?
  14. What colors should I use in my lightly stained pond? It's HOT in south GA so what lures and tequniques should I use?
  15. I love to fish Green Lakes State Park in Central New York. The lake there has about 15 ft visibility (CRAZY, RIGHT?) and is home to VERY finicky, yet large bass. There seem to be two types of bass here; ones that cruise the shoreline looking for a meal, and those settled on lay downs along the shore. The settled bass seem to be much more active, but harder to find. I fish exclusively from shore, as no boats are allowed. Any suggestions for lures or techniques?
