    Caught 6. 4 bass, 1 grinnel, 1 white perch. Bass were not keepers. Grinnel about 5 - 6 pounds, white perch was nice sized. Launched at Oak Ridge. On the water a little after 11:30am. Wind was blowing, heard there was a lake wind advisory, headed up the Sabine River. Fished in coves that had 4' - 6' of water, river banks with lay downs and sandy points. In the 2nd cove caught the first bass. Along the river bank caught the grinnel. 3rd cove caught 3 more bass and the white perch. Started with a jig, also threw a suspending jerk bait but no luck. Caught all the fish with a H&H black/chartreuse double bladed spinner bait. Did throw the jig on lay downs and stumps but not bites. Tried some lay downs in 10' - 15' of water but no bites. Tried a couple of sandy points but no bites. Water temp 56 - 60 degrees, cloudy and wind was BLOWING. A little current in the river. Water was muddy. Did not see any grass or vegetation. Put the truck in drive @ 6:18pm headed to the house. Going again tomorrow morning, plan is to see sunrise on the water. My son is going with me.

    Caught 3, all bass. One was a keeper, barely. Launched about 6:45 at Oak Ridge, headed up the Sabine River. Wind was calm at sunrise but forecast was south wind at 10 - 15 for the day. Fished coves that had 4' - 6' of water, river banks with lay downs and sandy points. Caught 2 bass at the mouths of the coves on a black/blue jig, the third at the back of a cove on a white buzz bait. My son was with me, he did not catch anything. Threw everything in the tackle box at 'em. Water temp 56 - 60 degrees, cloudy and started with no wind then it started blowing hard. A little current in the river. Water was muddy on the river and stained in the coves. Did not see any grass or vegetation. Put the truck in drive at 11:09am and headed to the house.

    Zero LMB, 2 White Bass On the water by 10am, fished the river bends, a shore line in a cove and the sand bar point on the main lake. Shallow, deep and everything in between. Jig, Caroline Rig, Texas Rig, jerk bait and spinner bait. Nothing. Headed to the Sabine River to a sand bar, caught 2 White Bass bouncing the jerk bait off the sand. Put the truck in drive a little after 5:30pm headed to the house.

    Friday forecast says mostly sunny with a high around 75, Southwest wind at 5 - 10mph. Saturday a 40% chance of rain and thunderstorms before 1. The water level has risen almost a foot since Monday when I was last there. Going to fish the entire water column, top, mid and bottom at a few river bends that have humps with soft plastics, jigs, spinnerbaits, traps and buzz baits. Still looking for that elusive creek channel that runs into the river channel. Have seen some coves and pockets but have not ventured into them, maybe tomorrow. This will be my 5th time trying deep water/structure fishing. The highway from deep to shallow concept makes sense. Finding that highway is a practice in patience. Where is Buck Perry when you need him? Anybody ever use marker buoys while learning an area? Seems to me they would help.

    Nada, nothing, no fish, no bites. Launched from Oak Ridge. Headed out a 1pm. Motored to a place where there was an old creek bed coming into the main channel. Did not see any fish on the fish finder in 25'+ water. Did my best to follow the creek to shore fishing all the way. Throwing a black/blue buzz bait and chartreuse spinner bait in, what turned out to be, 2' - 6' of water at every stump I could see. I did make it to the shore to what looked like the mouth of the creek. It went back a ways but dried up. I was zig zagging trying to stay on top of the creek bed so it took awhile but I covered a lot of water. Saw bait fish jumping every once in awhile. Something was busting top water also, I think Gar. Back on the main channel and headed toward the launch as the sun was going down. Stopped at a spot where the shoreline was almost a cast away from main channel. Fish finder going crazy, fish suspended at 10' - 15' in 25' of water near the drop off. Spent 10 - 15 mins casting shallow and letting the buzz and spinner baits fall down the drop off. Then the mosquitoes started biting once the sun went down. I headed to the launch. Put the truck in drive at 6:15pm and headed to the house. Water temp was 58 - 60 degrees, scattered clouds, air temp supposed to be in the low 70s (felt like it, are we in the middle of winter?), nice gentle southern breeze.

    Nada, nothing, not a thing. Launched at Oak Ridge around 10:30am and recovered and on the road by 4:45pm. Tried jigs, drop shot, rat-l-trap, weightless soft plastic. Black and blue, smokey shad and Watermelon Red. Different depths from shoreline to 30'. Really worked over the drop offs where most the fish were holding (according to my fish finder), worked it shallow to deep then deep to shallow. Looked like most the fish were in the 10' - 15' area. Surface water was 50 to 53 degrees and saw stained and muddy water. Light breeze from the South. All in all a good day of fishing. Next time I geaux though, I wanna deaux some catching! Haven't caught a fish on The Bend in over 2 decades! Must not be holding my tongue right.
