  1. Hi all, I have a few Megabass rods id like to sell. I recently relocated and these have been sitting in my office untouched for months. They are too nice to go unused so I’d like to find them a new home where they will be better utilized. I’m listing their condition below. PM if you would like pictures, I’ll be happy to send them. Price is for the rod, buyer pays shipping. Feel free to make offers. Thanks for looking! USA Destroyer Otomat - $300 (Used less than 5 times) Orochi XX Braillist - SOLD Orochi X4 Destruction - $200 (Is an older rod and shows signs of use)
  2. Hey all, I’m replacing all my rods real soon as I really only have two good ones. All the other are either real nicked up or broke. I’m on the search for a real good rod spinning mainly but as well as bait casting. I’ve been looking at St. Croix mojo bass or the dobyns fury. Any suggestions? Would love to hear everyone’s 2 cents!
  3. I found a St Croix Mojo Bass casting rod on sale for $75 so I grabbed it. It's a 7'11" heavy powered rod with a moderate fast taper. The rod is made for flipping into heavy cover but with me living in Indiana there isn't a lot of heavy cover in the ponds and lakes that I fish. I need some suggestions on what I can use it for besides flipping.
  4. Hello! I was bank fishing the other day with my casting combo. The casting reel is a Shimano Scorpion DC reel with 10lb mono. A gentleman with a spinning combo came and started to fish with me using a weighted wacky rig. He was launching that thing...really far. I wasn't catching anything on my topwater frog so he asked me if I wanted a weighted senko (he pulled in a 5lb bass within 15-20 min). I took his offer. He said my casting reel should be able to launch the wacky rig further than his spinning. His friends apparently can launch it nearly to the middle of the lake. I was not even close, I changed the break to 1. Also, I am fairly new using a casting reel. Only had this for a couple months. What is going on? 3 things I can think of is my technique, type of line/test and rod type? The guy had braid, forgot what test.
  5. I recently broke a few inches off my MegaBass Orochi XX 6'8" Jerkbait Special and I am looking for a new rod to use with my Shimano Chronarch ci4+ Casting Reel. I like the feel of my old rod which was a medium heavy with fast action but I'm looking for one that is around 7'4" and a rod that is good for casting 3/8 oz jigs, swimbaits, spinnerbaits. My price range is somewhere around $200. Help me find a rod that works nicely with the type of reel that I have and the lures that I use.
  6. Hi all, first time posting here! Looking for some suggestions/tips for getting a ~7' M or MH casting rod. I would use it a lot for texas rigged plastics, so sensitivity is important. But if I could get away with it I'd want to also use it for weightless senkos, maybe a spinnerbait, lighter jigs & bladed jigs, and small-ish topwater lures. My other two rods I carry (bank fishing) are a 7'2 ML spinning rod for finesse and a 7'5 H irod Fred's magic stick for heavy cover, frogs and larger topwater lures. Don't have a quality set up for what's in between. Some rods that might work: St Croix Avid 7' MH XF (or 7' medium) Kistler Helium 3 7'1 MH (or KLX 7' MH, or KLX 7' medium) Fenwick Aetos 7' medium More budget friendly Dobyns Sierra 7' MH I know of course there's not one amazing rod for all those tactics, but how about a great rod for a ~1/8-3/8oz Texas rigged rage craw, that can decently handle a 3/8 oz spinnerbait and a smaller Whopper plopper? I don't want two new rods because I like to carry 2-3 at most while bank fishing, and don't have a boat. I might try carrying an extra reel spooled with mono to use on the same rod for treble hook baits like lipless cranks, smaller wakebaits and topwater lures, maybe a jerkbait (although not sure how well this work). Happy to spend more on a rod like the helium IF it really is a significant upgrade compared to the cheaper options and I'll actually feel more bites. I'm curious as to what some of the very knowledgeable and helpful people on this site might be able to tell me! Any tips? Thanks
  7. I'm in HS and on a tight budget, I'm trying to make the best arsenal I can for the littlest price. Which rod is the best for around $40? Ive heard only good things about both and can't decide. Or if you have other suggestions please let me know. Also, has anyone had experience with the super inexpensive H20 rods? The Legacy sells for like $14. Would these be good for moving baits that require little sensitivity or are they junk?
  8. I fish from the bank exclusively and use 2 rods. One is a 6 foot spinning rod and one is a 7 foot baitcaster. The 7 footer I find is too long for me to do a lot of pitching and flipping with. I just can't seem to get it down because it feels too long. I can do a lot with the 6 foot spinning rod. Should I downsize my baitcaster to a 6 foot rod?
  9. Hi im looking for a new rod to pair with my New shimano curado dc and I’ve narrowed the rods down to the Shimano Expride 7’2 H or G Loomis GLX 843c MBR by the way I’m looking for an all around round . I would appreciate you guys input thank you
  10. I'm making life way to difficult I think. I purchased a Lightning Shock Casting Rod off EBay thinking it was a med moderate, ( because that's what the listing said it was)? but it came as a MHF. Now I already own a MHF Casting Rod and I'm tying myself up in knots convinced I need a med. I'm not going to return it because I only paid 33.00 for it. Tell me I can relax and just use the drag correctly with the mono line I have and I can get away with using this for shallow cranks and treble hook baits. Waters I fish are typically no deeper than 12, and I fish from shore. I also have a med mod in a spinning setup. Help me with my compulsion??
  11. Dear all, I have been researching for a good casting travel rod for at least 5 hours straight now (and maybe 11h in total). You all have been very useful on other persons topics. However I was unable to answer my main question which is what brand suits best? The travel rod wanted is fast action 1/4-3/8oz lure weight casting rod with a budget of less than 240$. I found 3 options : - St. Croix triumph casting travel rod with very good reviews but MH instead of M, no real issue though. 140$ - Temple fork traveler casting rod (TAC TRC 704-3) which is very absent in term of review, but the brand is quite good apparently. 200$ - Daiwa Ardito (ARDT70MHF-SC) spinning and casting combo. good reviews and seems very interesting since I have a few spinning reels and if was to love it you could switch between reels. I am afraid to pay 50$ of the 140$ for that extra option though. 140$ My first question is, do you have any feedback on them ? My second is are st.croix and temple fork rods on the same level of quality ? because the Temple fork rod is nowhere to be reviewed but is still more expensive. Thank you for all your answers !
  12. I finally got to hold some Dobyn’s Champion casting rods in hand. They felt really good in hand and seemed to be of great quality. They had some of their crankbait rods but they were the graphite versions. I’m curious to know if the glass crankbait rods that they offer are full out glass or composite?
  13. I searched the forum but had no luck. I know there is someone out there smarter than me on this subject (thanks in advance). I am trying to find the direct replacement for the BPS Johnny Morris Signature Series Casting rod guides and Tip. I know by searching the forum that they are Fuji New Concept Titanium Guides, but I can't find the specs or sizes needed for this rod. A 7'2" Med Heavy Fast action. I asked Bass Pro but they tell me to "send it in to them for repairs" I'm sure there are others like me that are DIY. Any help on this is very appreciated!!!!! Thank you. Eric.
  14. Do I buy a shimano Cumara for 160, or should I keep looking for a different rod?
  15. anybody know a good 2 piece casting rod ?
  16. Should i get the medium heavy fast action for versatality or the medium fast action. I will be using trigs, cranks, jigs, topwater, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, chatterbaits.
  17. Hello, So I have been looking for a new casting rod and I came across several on tackle warehouse priced fairly well, some from Diawa, Cashion, Lews, and Ducket. I know there are technique specific rods as well, but right now I'm looking for a versatile more multipurpose type setup. I fish a lot of soft plastics but also use jigs, spinner baits, and top water lures. I'm kind of at a loss trying to pick a rod length and action that has enough sensitivity and power to fish a variety of lures (also one that doesn't break the bank). I was curious if you guys could suggest a rod that would work for my fishing styles and my wallet. Also if you have any other brand suggestions please comment! Thanks Ill take any advice you have. -Michael
  18. I’m looking for a rod to use for spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and topwater(mostly poppers and walking). Is this expecting too much out of one rod? I have read through the topics in the “The Best Rod Thread” sticky and from what I have read most of these types of lures work well with a M/XF rod. My local DSG has the GL2 812C SBR for ~$90 and the local BPS has several Abu Garcia Veracity rods clearanced for $99. I know that the G Loomis GL2 is not a very popular line and the general consensus is that they are heavy and the rod is overpriced at the $200 range based on sensitivity, weight and quality of components(type of guides). The main thing that concerns me with the GL2 is the lure rating of 3/8 to ½ oz which seems pretty narrow. Currently the casting rods that I have: An older G Loomis MBR 843 IMX (made in canada) Powell Endurance 723 CEF Daiwa Procyon 7’ MH Abu Garcia Silvermax Rod 6’6” M/F I am open to any other suggestions and also willing to go with a used rod.
  19. Does any one know the stats for the Zebco Atac casting rod? Also what is it made of and does the grip improve the experience?!
  20. Im looking for a light weight, sensitive, and durable casting rod around 7'2" heavy or MH for around $100
  21. I got a 7 foot medium heavy berkley cherrywood HD casting rod for 22$ and i'm impressed with it's sensitivity, I've only got to use it a few times and am wondering if anyone on here has the same stick? if so what are your thoughts about it? so far I noticed it's a little heavier than my berkly lightning rod of the same size and power (not that it bothers me) I have also noticed the fast tip. I think it's a great rod for 22$ and from my experience berkley makes great products.
  22. I have another question for y'all. Have or do any of use the Carrot Stix casting rod? I am looking for a new rod for my new bait caster. I am trying to stay under $200. Any suggestions/advice is appreciated!
  23. Nice review of the Tatula casting rods over at TT. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwatatularod.html
