  1. I’m having issues deciding between a Bantam and a Chronarch and I’ve watched a bunch of videos and read reviews and all that jazz, but I can’t conceptualize the size of them. Basically every video I’ve seen will only compare other MGL reels or older models (which is valid). I think that the Cronarch is a tad smaller and lighter so I’ve been leaning towards that but I would rather have an aluminum frame, so if someone could let me know about the sizes in comparison to the Curado 200K I would be very appreciative ? Btw the plan of usage is for finesse powerfishing (usually smaller bladed jigs) with a 6’10” M/F Curado Rod
  2. I found an old Abu Garcia Ambassador 4600 CB in my shed, my granddad had given it to me. It’s from the 70s or 80s. It’s gear ratio is 4.7:1, what could I use this reel for?
  3. Hey so, i found someone who needs to get rid of their lightly used zillion because of financial reasons and they are willing to let it go for 150, is this reel a good reel? plus what should i look for in a second hand reel to ensure i’m not getting screwed with something that is broken lol
  4. Long story short, I was cleaning a used Daiwa Tatula 100 HSL (my first time) and after reassembling and cleaning it about 17 times, I think I may have damaged one or both of the gears. I just received a new Daiwa Fuego and the manual shows not to turn the handle or engage the clutch without a spool inside the frame as it will damage gears. Pretty sure this is where I went wrong, as I did exactly what it said not to do The Tatula still works but it's a bit "grindy". Would I need to replace both the main gear and pinion gear or just the pinion gear? Does anyone know a good place to order these parts? Thanks for your time. FWIW the Fuego is a really nice smooth reel. Can't wait to get it out on the water.
  5. Looking to expand my rod and reel arsenal and I’m looking for a little advice since I’m looking to try out a different manufacturer. I currently have all Daiwa casting reels. 3 Tatula, 2 Tatula CT, and 1 Fuego CT. Nothing wrong with them at all... just wanting to try something different. My personal preference is magnetic brakes and I’d like to stay in the $100-$150 range. Maybe a little more. What do y’all think? And... GO
  6. So i have been looking around amazon/ebay Looking for a striper bass fishing casting reel that won't break the bank, But have had no luck, I looked at the KastKing rover, But i don't want Chinese junk!, I was hoping to get 16+ pounds of drag, But still have some what of Castability, i will be doing some striper fishing soon in the 20+ Pound range, And want a reel that will hold up, So does anyone have any suggestions or recommended reels? Thank you!
  7. Early this month I decided to buy a new casting reel. After a few days of looking around I decided to buy a lews reel. A short time later I decided to buy Team Lews Custom Pro Speed Spool slp. All I can say is this reel is amazing. Its super lite, very well built, extremely easy to tune and will cast far. The way the reel sits on pole makes it easy handle not to mention comfortable. The 4 pin 27 position centrifugal breaks are by far the best breaking system I ever used. This reel is also moderately priced at $260 dollars. The reel is a one piece aluminum frame with carbon sideplates and handle. It also uses airplane grade materials. This reel is partically impossible to backlash if tuned properly. With this reel you will be able to cast really far with ease. Few days ago i went to a FOOTBALL FIELD to see how far I can cast. I decided to bring 3 lures with me. I did 5 cast for each lure. First lure was a 6 gram or .21 oz blue fox spinner. I was able to cast 44.4 to 47.7 yards. Next was a 10gram or .35 oz rooster tail. I was able to cast 53.8 to 57.1yards. Finally i tried something really light. A 4 gram or .14 oz blue fox spinner I was able to cast that 30.2 to 33.9 yards. These distances were measured the real way, the accurate way in a football field with yard markers. My conclusion is if your looking for a reel that's well built, very low profile, cast a mile, feels great in hand and impossible to backlash if set rite then get this reel. You will not be dissapointed at all its simple amazing and it only cost $ 260 dollars which isn't that much for a casting reel.
  8. I just saw this and dont really have a clue about a Quantum baitcaster but if it was a $300 reel it has to be one hell of a good reel for $99 right? http://www.cabelas.com/product/bargain-cave/rock-bottom-deals/fishing-boating%7C/pc/105591780/c/105642180/sc/105647580/quantum-174-exo-pt-casting-reel/1871578.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-boating%2F_%2FN-1102654%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_105647580 I see about once a day guys asking about the best reel for $100 surely this is a steal. OK experts so whats the deal is it a decent buy? Quantum® EXO PT Casting Reel Regular Price: $299.99 Sale Price: $99.99
  9. I play to buy a combo for heavy applications such as frogging, flipping, pitching, punching, swimbaits and jigs. I plan to buy a Berkley Lightning rod as well as a todo 7:1:1 reel to pair with it. So here are my questions. 1. Should I buy a 7' Medium Heavy rod or a 7'6" Heavy rod for the applications above? ^^^^^^^ (I have read on Tackle Warehouse that a lot of people like 7' MH rods for frogging and flipping) 2. What reel should I buy to pair with it? I was thinking one of these reels. - Abu Garcia Pro Max - Lews Tournament MG Speed Spool (Already have one on my Texas rig rod) - Lews Super Duty Speed Spool - Lews Tournament Pro Speed Spool Whaddya think???? Thanks guys.
