  1. Hey all, I’m looking to buy a new setup for my jig/chatter bait/spinner bait/some swim baits. I’m looking for a MH-MF rod and a reel to match it. Like the title says I would like to stay under the $180 range. Any recommendations?
  2. Sorry i have been asking so much about these two reels, but waiting for their restock has got me doing more research about the two reels. Do You prefer the SLX or SLX XT and besides the svs infinity system in the XT, what other features set it apart from the SLX? I know some people say for $30 it is not worth it, but i found a deal to get it for only $18.
  3. New to kayak fishing, I've had my lure 11.5 for just over a year now and I want to start adding on to it. I'm looking to add a depth/fish finder at the moment, but I have no idea what makes a good one and what the price ranges are. I'm sure I could research them just like I normally do with my fishing stuff, but I figured I'd ask around here first. I'm on a budget, but since I'm not sure how expensive a decent one is I don't know where to set the bar so any recommendation is welcome. If you need anymore info before giving any suggestions let me know and i'll do my best to provide it. Thanks, Harrison

  5. Hello BR, I've been trapped inside for over two weeks now wishing I could go fishing but, since I am still 14 and my parents don't want me to leave home under any circumstance I am stuck here. I have been spending my time on Amazon looking at fishing rods and lures, that are wayyyy to expensive for me to buy. I've seen multiple budget rods and reel by this company called KastKing, I have see there products on YouTube and they seem to be some great budget rods and reels. Has anybody had good experience with this company? I've been wanting to buy a KastKing Royale Select Fishing Rod, Casting Rod 7ft 6in-Extra Heavy - Fast-1pc which is only $60 with a coupon, paired with a KastKing Royale Legend II Baitcasting Reel, Gear Ratio 7.2:1, Left Handed Fishing Reel ($40). And some (a bit excessive) 80lb P-Line TCB Braid, which I got on sale for only $5!! For big swimbaits and hopefully pike and muskie. I've also been looking at the ABU GARCIA® MAXTORO COMBO 7'6" Heavy. For only $210 which hopefully I will get for my birthday in two months. (I also have been thinking of buying a ton of lures from Ali-Express) Has anybody tried any of these Rods & Reels? Does anybody have a recommendation for a Budget Combo? Any help is greatly appreciated, Martin Sierra
  6. I am a bank fisherman, who is also on a budget. I want to start using the Texas rig more. I have 1 quality bait-casting combo, an Abu Garcia Black-Max Vengeance 6'9'' M. I currently have it spooled with 20 lbs braid. Again, I am a BANK FISHERMAN. My question is: Should I use a leader to help with stealth? Or just use my braid like I have been? Also, should I use a leader all the time for different lures like lipless crankbaits, or jigs? I feel that if I use one and get hung up, I will only lose my leader, and a lure instead of 30 plus feet of braid. I have some 8 lbs mono, and can't really afford to go purchase an entire roll of F.C. Plus I don't want to get away from my braid because I use the same combo for top water frogs, jigs, and everything else I decide to fish with. You guys here at BassResource.com have always pulled through and gave me quality advice, so please don't let me down now!
  7. I'm trying to figure out what the most promising rods out there are currently. I'm currently looking into MHF rods. Supposedly those are your "do it all" rods which I want since I'm not exactly what you'd call a season veteran. The budget is $100-$200 dollars for solely a rod (not a reel combo). I was looking at a St. CROIX bass X but I'm unsure if that is my best option given my budget. If you recommend something slightly over $200, I'd still consider it. Any insight would be appreciated.
  8. I'm deciding between a few Jig rods in the $100-$150 range, and unfortunately can not hold most of them so I need others experience. I'm buying a 7'-7'3 MH XF/F Casting rod for jigs/Heavy t Rigs. So far its come down to -Dobyns Fury (I own one and like it, but have nothing to compare it to) -IRod Fiber (People love the genesis, this is the same blank with cheaper components) -Cabela's Tournament ZX (sale for $79) -Lews Custom Speed Stick -Possibly wait for refurbished Dobyns Sierra ----- I need to add, There is a 6'8 MH veritas on sale for $40. (I don't mind that it fishes one power up). Ive felt the veritas but thought the material felt somewhat cheap, and I've heard it isn't that sensitive. But $40 is a VERY good price... I also am considering the DAIWA AirDX. I was going to buy it for a frog rod, but heard really good things and some swear that it fishes jigs with the sensitivity of a $150 rod. However, the very low price point makes me skeptical...It would Reallly help if someone could give their honest opinion of this rod. Thanks
  9. I was thinking about picking up an abu garcia orra sx along with a winch, I was wondering if this reel is worth picking up.
  10. So I am looking for a new casting reel, the most I would like to spend is 80 but I can do 90 if it is worth it. I am looking to put it on a medium heavy rod. I have had the abu garcia black max before and wasnt too impressed and would like something nicer. So far, I have looked at the Abu Garcia Orra sx, *** origin A, Lews Laser MG speed spool and shimano caenan. Any advice on which of these reels are better than the other or new suggestions are appreciated
  11. I am a relatively new fisherman and love the information on this forum. Unfortunately, i'm also a broke a** college student and need to upgrade from my 10 year old $25 combo. I'm looking for a solid MHF 7-7'2 rod ( needs to be good for all around fishing, which is why i picked this), for under $80. I would prefer a solid $40-$60 rod, but if its a great deal will consider up to 80, so please refrain from the "spend $20 more and get a ..." as i really don't have the cash.. Also looking for a quality reel, same range. Any sales on nice equipment would be VITAL (and preferred), or any combos that offer a solid deal on rod and reel as well. I just missed out on a $60 sellus and sedona combo at dicks and am very ticked, so that is pretty much my standard for deals, I figured someon on here can help me find where the major deals are. Thanks guys, happy fishing

  13. Hello, I'm a younger angler looking for the best all around soft plastic rod/reel. I'm almost 15 so I am somewhat on a budget as I don't have a job yet. I want the rod and the reel to be less than $120 dollars. The rod and reel combo will be used for soft plastics, (Texas rig, wacky rig, weightless, and some drop shot). Any suggestions? Thanks.
  14. Hey guys, just wanted to toss this out there to see what you all are using out there. I'm pretty new into bass fishing and this forum. Trying to find my first Baitcaster rod and reel, hoping to keep it anywhere between $100 and $150. Thanks for any feedback!

  16. Im looking for a budget spinning rod for dropshotting (very sensitive). Under the $100 mark. Looking to get my dad a nice spinning rod for fathers day. Hes pretty much only used walmart rods and most of them broke lol. Any suggestions
  17. Hi guys, This is my first post on here! A very exciting day for me since I've been using the site a lot before this and never being able to contribute. Anyways, I am 15 and jobless and looking for a spinning rod I can chuck some senkos on this summer. Preferably in the 40-60 ish price range, although some slight exceptions could be made. Also, the length and action should be about 6'6-7'0 and med extra fast. Some rods I have been looking at have been the Shimano Sellus, Fenwick Eagle and HMX, Berkley Lightning shock, and some BPS rods. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, and have a good day -Justen
  18. Recently bought a boat to fix up and I'm wondering if anyone out there has a bit of advice whether to get a unit for the front deck or one by the console. I prefer humminbird or lowrance. Im not looking to spend a lot. somewhere between 500-700. Eventually I will then buy a better second unit. I've heard Humminbird is more user friendly, but I've also heard that lowrances can be great. Also if anyone's thoughts on autochart.
  19. Hey guys, I've used my same rod all my life and sadly it has broken...so now im going to spoil myself to a new somewhat nice rod and reel. My budget is around $150...does anyone have any suggestions??
  20. Hey guys, I need a new rod for my spinning reel. I am looking for something under $50, to be used mainly for lighter lures. I need it to be good for most techniques because I can't afford different rods for each technique. I fish from shore if that helps any. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
