  1. I have a Powell Max3D 6'10" Medium Mod-Fast rod. And today when I was fishing, I hooked a nice 4lb bass. I was on the bank with a slight edge, about 2-3'. I lifted the bass up and my rod shattered in between the first and second eyelet closest to the reel. Should this have happened? I picked up the rod about 6" past the reel.
  2. I was kayaking and fishing on the river this weekend and did the ultimate dumb move afterward. I was loading up my kayak along with my friend’s kayak and canoe when it happened….. I loaded the kayak with my new Abu Black Max Baitcaster combo sitting in the hull (I know, idiot move) and about that time I heard a delicate snap. Pull the kayak back and there is about 4-5 inches of the rod tip dangling on the line….. IDIOT!!! Only upside to this is the fact that I basically almost “stole” this thing from WalMart as it was priced for $13 (incorrectly I assume)…. So for the $13 investment I still have a decent reel, but mad at myself nevertheless……
  3. I know this is going to show how new I am at this, but I thought someone would get a laugh at it. Has anyone done the following before? I was bank fishing and traded out my 4lbs test line for 12lbs and was doing good at the end of last week. Well, Monday morning I got caught up in some standing timber and figured I would just pull to see if I could get the lure free and wrapped it around my index finger. I gave it a yank and immediately remembered that I had switched out my line. Instead of snapping the line or pulling the lure free, I sliced my finger open. It's ok though because it cauterized the cut from the friction at the same time it cut into my finger. I wasn't bleeding and I figured I would keep on fishing. That was the third cast of the morning. I moved to a different spot and, two casts later, got caught up in another tree. I gave two quick pops of the rod over my head to try and get it free, and snapped the rod. I guess you could say that it was a Monday for sure. I was a little frustrated because it's the only good rod/reel combo I have. I only have a couple of those $20 combos in the corner of the garage now. Oh well, I can use those until I can get something else. I hope this brought someone a laugh. It has taken me two days to laugh about it.
