  1. This is my first time using this website so here it goes. I believe my mach crush magnetic brakes are not working because no matter if the brake are at 10 or 1 the casting distance is the same and it is still pretty difficult to get a back lash. My spool tension and drag is set properly so I’m not sure what the problem is.
  2. Hi All, I've been using spinning rods since I began fishing, but I'm in the market to buy my first baitcasting reel. I don't get out to fish as much as I'd like to and because of that, I would like to buy a baitcasting reel that isn't prone to backlashes/bird's nest. I did my homework before writing my post and it seems that magnetic brakes are more "forgiving" than centrifugal brakes. However, in the reviews I've read (and I'm sure I've missed some) most people tend to think that the Shimano Curado 200K (with it's centrifugal brake system) does a better job at reducing backlashes than Daiwa's Tatula SV TWS, even though the Daiwa reel has magnetic brakes. If someone, like me, is wants a reel that isn't prone to backcasts, why wouldn't he/she buy the Daiwa Tatula SV TWS with the magnetic brakes? The reasoning seems a bit contradictory to me. Any thoughts and insight would be greatly appreciated. For what it's worth: 1) I don't have any allegiance to Daiwa or Shimano and only mention these reels because they fit my price point and seem to be a good investment; and I'm going to match up the reel with a Dobyn's 705CB. Bonus points for tips on how to learn to use a baitcaster and how to avoid backlashes and fix them! Thanks!
  3. Hi all, Just recieved my 2013 metanium and I am super happy. I have a question what's in the box since the instructions are in japanese. In the bag with the 2 different brake sets, what's the little sticker thing for? Thanks in advance!
  4. I have a new Chronarch CI4 and it is an awesome reel, but if am just not sure how to use the braking system on it. I am used to the external brakes on Tatulas. Any insight on this would be much appreciated. Thanks
  5. I'm hoping someone can help me understand this better. I got my first b/c a few weeks ago and I've figured out how to cast it by watching youtube video. In his video he says to turn the tension knob until your lure just starts to fall at a steady pace. When I try to do this, I get it to a point where it starts to fall, but it accelerates instead of falling at an even pace. If I turn the tension back up even the tiniest bit, the lure doesn't move unless I jiggle my rod. I'm using a BPS Pro Qualifier for a reel. Is there something else I need to do to achieve this? Does it really even matter? I am probably over thinking this, but it gets to me that I can't replicate what Glenn's suggesting to do! I'm not having any troubles casting it normally (can't seem to pitch more than 10 ft, any tips for setting up for that would be great too). Do I need to adjust the internal brakes or whatever? Thanks for any help!
  6. Hi! I'm new to baitcasters, recently bought 3 of them : Curado, Chronarch and Revo STX. Love them all. Shimanos have only centrifugal brake but Revo STX has centrifugal brake and magnetic brake. Question is: when are you using that magbetic brake....is this useful?.....I've been fishing using the STX...and didnt find any need to use/adjust magnetic brake....so what are benefits of having that mag. brake? I'm casting easy 35-40 m....with all 3 reels without problems....no birds nest ( if I dont make a mistake - like not thinking about what I'm doing ).
