  1. I was Reading the Bassmaster magazine Jan/Feb 2021 and I came across this add, Raphala talking about their Hit Stick jerk bait. I have never use them but I found something interesting in them, First Variety of Sizes and colors, And second and most important that they claim that it will act like balsa wood lures. Third, the sound system in the design. Forth, Pricing is very good. For me it is very unique lure but if only it was suspending as well, I would get the whole line of it. Do any of you guys using this lure? and what can you say about it?
  2. Which one do you prefer and why?
  3. Over the past couple weeks I've been trying out the Berkley Powerbait Max Scent soft plastics. To be honest the older Powerbaits have kind of been a little stinky which has left them out of my regular line up. So when I received these in the mail I wasn't too optimistic. The General: I chose the General which is a 5" stick worm. Upon opening the package, you guessed it, curiosity got this cat and I stuck my nose in and took a whiff. Not bad at all, in fact there isn't much scent at all. They are wet, so you can tell they've been saturated in the Max Scent formula. From the package they're strait and true. The front of the package has a nice recommendation on what it's best paired with. They suggested a whacky rig. I went with a 3/0 EWG Gamakatsu and T-rigged it weightless. The bait glides through the water nicely. I caught several fish this way. What I noticed was after catching several fish the General held up nicely, so much so the Senko queen herself (my wife) took notice. For my wife to consider anything besides a Senko is huge! Back at home I took the General and a Senko to my sons pool that's about three foot deep for the ultimate test. Side by side I let the two go. The General has a faster fall rate which was to be expected. That being said the fall rate wasn't fast at all, in fact it was right where I want a stick bait to fall. Not too slow you could take a nap waiting for touchdown, and not too fast is drops like a rock with no movement and flies by your target fish. It swayed back and forth and had a sweet little shimmy to it that drives the fish crazy! At just under $7 for a bag of I believe 9 worms that will catch multiple fish per worm it's a great deal. On top of that the movement is perfect and the scent isn't going to leave you sleeping on the couch waiting for the smell to wear off. Creature Craw: I didn't get as much time with this bait but it reflects a lot of the qualities the General has. It seems to be more durable than some other creature baits on the market. The pinchers have plenty of movement on them which is a good thing. The ribs along the body have plenty of contour so it should be easy for the bass to quickly hone in on. This retails under the $7 price tag as well so you really can't go wrong. The Powerbait Max Scent line up is a hit with me. I'm going to check out what else they have I can load up on, and it looks like Berkley might have converted the Senko queen!
  4. Anybody have some experience with these? I’m a big Berkley fan and enjoy using their products but as I’m starting to build my crankbait arsenal I’m wondering if I should board the hype train and go with Strike King or 6th sense. I’ve used the Sqaurebull and Warpig with some good results, so I’m super tempted to stock up on their other hardbaits. Still debating though.
  5. I recently tried a lure I was so impressed with I wanted to share with everyone here. I recently tried the "Berkley havoc Flat Dawg". It is very similar to other senko style worms but it has a flattened cross section. Because of this the action it has on the fall is unbelieveable. It not only shimmies but wobbles back and forth as it falls. The action is much better than I have seen on any other stick bait and it has already produced a few good fish for me. They are not very durable but they only cost $3.00 for a pack. You can order them on Walmart and have them ship to your store for free. I recommend rigging them on a 4/0 Lunker City Texposer hook. If you have never tried these hooks they are phenomenal as well. Easier to rig than other hooks and have the perfect gap for fishing worms.
  6. Hi guys, This is my first post on here! A very exciting day for me since I've been using the site a lot before this and never being able to contribute. Anyways, I am 15 and jobless and looking for a spinning rod I can chuck some senkos on this summer. Preferably in the 40-60 ish price range, although some slight exceptions could be made. Also, the length and action should be about 6'6-7'0 and med extra fast. Some rods I have been looking at have been the Shimano Sellus, Fenwick Eagle and HMX, Berkley Lightning shock, and some BPS rods. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, and have a good day -Justen
  7. I know the new Berkley Digger cranks have came up a few times on here, and there isn't much information on them out there, so I decided to order a couple in and check them out for myself. These were designed by David Fritts, which is the same guy who designed the DT series for Rapala, which these seem pretty similar to shape wise. So I made this little video to show a side by side comparison of the two baits and give an overview of the new Digger. Check this out if you've been wondering about these baits. PS. These new Fusion 19 hooks are very nice. Super sticky, and they seem to be a little heavier gauge than than the VMC's that come on the DT's.
  8. Hello, I just have two quick questions... I have been deciding on a spinning rod for a while, and I think I am going to get the Berkly Lightning Rod Shock, because it isn't too expensive and I have read many good reviews. Do you think this is a good choice? Also, i'm having a lot of trouble finding a good reel. Like the rod, I would like to get something fairly cheap, $50 or below. What are some good spinning reels in this price range that will work well for bass fishing and that would go with the Lightning shock Rod? Thanks for all input.
  9. Looking to respool my ultralight rod/reel today. Wondering if this is a good idea to do this with monofilament. I already have the 6lb mono (in my last post) but im concerened if i spool it now that by the time ice out rolls around it will already have memory on it. Thoughts?
  10. At the moment i'm using my medium heavy moderately fast 7 foot berkley lightning rod for cranking. I hear a lot of talk about how you should use medium power rods to crank. I find that if you get a medium heavy with a mod/moderately fast tip you shouldn't have a problem cranking. I've never ripped a hook out of a fishes mouth, does anyone else crank with rods of higher power than medium? I think too many fishermen do what they're told and not what they feel.
  11. I got a 7 foot medium heavy berkley cherrywood HD casting rod for 22$ and i'm impressed with it's sensitivity, I've only got to use it a few times and am wondering if anyone on here has the same stick? if so what are your thoughts about it? so far I noticed it's a little heavier than my berkly lightning rod of the same size and power (not that it bothers me) I have also noticed the fast tip. I think it's a great rod for 22$ and from my experience berkley makes great products.
  12. Has anyone been able to try out the new Berkley Braid? If so what size and what are your thoughts? How does it compare to PowerPro and Suffix 832. Thanks
  13. So I was just wondering if 10lb monofilament line would be too heavy for a 2000 series spinning reel. The reel is a mitchell avocet 2000 series, last year I filled it completely with 8lb big game mono line and it casted like a dream no problems at all, I was wondering if 10lb line would cause any issues (casting distance aside).
  14. Hi everyone- I recently got a new REVO SX 7:1.1 as a gift. Now i need a rod to keep it company. My options are limited to what my walmart has. 1. Berkley Shock Rod. 2. Abu Vendetta or Vengence(cant remember). 3. Shimano Sellus. Ive never had a reel this light and compact. What would your recommendations be of these 3? And what would you use this set up for? Thank you all for your time .
