  1. Hey everyone! I have been fascinated by bass fishing for most of my life but always I hesitated and felt overwhelmed by it all. I finally took the plunge and subscribed to many beginner bass YouTube channels and put together a decent 150$-200$ or so set of lures, lines, tackle, baits, and 2 rod & spinning reels to start off with. I have lived in Broward County Florida for 5 years now and have prepped to go on my first LMB all day fishing trip at Markham tomorrow and Sunday, maybe even hop around the 75N canals and even Holiday if I have time over the weekend. I have a 6'6 Medium Ugly Stick and another older Medium 6'6 rod that was my grandpa's - the Ugly Stick has 15# flouro leader to 12# mono and my grandpa's is 8# mono to a 15# flouro leader. (I am saving up to get a 7'0 medium heavy ASAP). I'm starting with a 3/8oz Colorado style spinnerbait first but I included a screen shot of my list of stuff I have and am bringing with me. I have a willow spinnerbait, swim jigs and trailers, hollow body craws, green pumpkin and black senkos 5" etc. (I have everything on the list aside from the top water bait, the buzz bait, ribbon tail worm and chatter bait). I practiced uni/double uni knots, the palomor knot, and the improved clinch knot. I would be so grateful to hear some good tips , advice, local spots and anything else you guys can offer a total newbie like me before my first weekend. Also if theres any beginner clubs or meets willing to guide a 29 yr bass beginner like me that would be great too! - Nick
  2. Going to buy new equipment and tackle for me is like a small child in a toy or candy store. I want just about everything there regardless of if I need it or not. However when it comes to buying rods and sometimes reals I feel a little bit in he dark. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there, who isn't the most experienced bass fisherman and doesn't have all of this figured out yet. So I'll go ahead and ask, what does all of this mean? When it it comes to rods there is the action, and the power, both of which use a lot of the same terminology. What's the difference and what do they mean? And once I know all of that how do I apply it to what I need? As for reels there is gear ratio's and bearings and drags and all of these different settings and such. What do all of these numbers mean? Once all of those make sense, why do they matter? I'm not completely lost on all of this but I feel like there may be someone out there who is, so if you all don't care to help with that I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated by all of the rookies out there.
  3. Hello, I just watched mini series for bass fishing for beginners and read website articles and was about to purchase a rod. Question struck me. Can a rod be a two piece rod or is it a big no-no? Can it be more than a two piece? In addition I will be trying to learn to fish together with my 7 year old. What would be a two best different rods to get. Seems that for him I should get 5' light rod and for me 6.5' medium. Does that sound correct? I am going on a week vacation to a lake where I would like to try to fish for bass. I live near the ocean bay. Is there a way to buy a rod/s which will serve for both ocean bay (quite waters) and bass lake fishing?
