  1. Looking for an all around baitcaster to pair with a 7’3” MH legend tournament I just got from my fiancé for Xmas. Sadly I have to wait to use it as I live in Minnesota but heading to Newton Lake (top 20 bass fishing lake) in Southern IL in April. I have Shimano SLX-DC, Daiwa tatula SV TW 103, and Lews Pro Ti reels. They’re all great but would love some input on what to pair with a “do it all” rod. I primarily bass fish and occasionally go for pike. I am pretty thrifty when it comes to finding deals so feel free to throw a $300 reel on here as a suggestion if you think it’s worth the extra $$$. Thanks in advance!!
  2. I am looking to get back into competitive fishing as a co-angler. I do have a boat but I am more interested in learning some new tips and tricks than winning tournaments and going pro. My day job is my other passion so I'll stick with it. I have been hitting the lakes pretty much every week for about 6 months now. Once I figure out the lake, I try new ones to see how long it takes me to figure it out. I noticed I focus on the same style fishing on every lake, which has been productive. However, I want to expand my skill set. This pushed me to start hiring guides to take me artificial fishing. On my latest trip I hired Chuck Pippin out of Orlando, Florida. We were fluke and spinnerbait fishing and we had a decent day. I've never fished a fluke before so it was nice to learn something.A couple of days ago he released this video: So this video has me thinking, maybe I am missing out on a world or opportunity. Maybe those big bass are interested in more than what I typically throw. My question is what are the go-to lures you like to throw? What type of situations do you typically choose that lure?
  3. So in July I bought a Daiwa fishing sling backpack online from this store (www.crossoutdoorgear.com). I ordered it for a Colorado fishing trip for August. Well, its September now and I messaged the company several times throughout to see if they were ever gonna send the backpack. No replies for weeks now. Luckily, I was able to use the PayPal checkout on their website, and so today I disputed the charges. But the funny thing is I looked up their address and noticed it was fake! There is no business called crossoutdoorgear for that address! I even looked up their BBB profile and what do you know, the BBB can't contact them either. And unfortunately, I am not the only victim of this. When I buy things online I usually do some sort of research on the brand, especially if its a brand that I have never heard of. And a lot of my finesse fishing gear are from Japan. So I looked up their website on Facebook and Instagram. And from the looks of things they seemed pretty legit. Thousands of likes and followers on both platforms. But now looking back at some of their post likes, and older posts I now see that the number of likes versus their follower ratios does not add up. I also noticed the complaints on BBB and some other forums say that when you order from this company, you won't hear from them for the first month or so but if you raise enough hell they will send you something. It might not be the Item you wanted but they send something just to say they sent it. My guess is that this guy does not have very many customers to begin with, hence the very low number of complaints for this website. This is not the first time I've seen a scam but this guy blatantly frauds people and seems to get away with it. So I'm gonna do my best to help out the community and spread this so you guys don't get scammed. This guy sells fishing gear so watch out!! I reported to the FTC and BBB I hope whoever owns that website sees this post. Anyone else been through this?
  4. Iv just started bass fishing and after watching videos I have noticed a lot of people use bait caster reels! My current gear is a Shakespeare tiger 7" and here are the specifications Shakespeare 7 foot 2-piece medium action Tiger spinning rod Stainless Steel guides with aluminum oxide inserts Graphite reel seats with stainless steel hoods Includes Shakespeare Tiger rod and spinning reel Ball bearing design Left/Right convertible retrieve Spooled with line My other rod and reel is a Shakespeare mantis spinning reel on a Shakespeare Durango rod If anyone could tell me if either of these are "bass fishing capable" and if you could recommend a good rod and baitcaster reel combo/or seperate for a decent price preferably something less than $50 at most $70! I just want to have the best gear possible in that price range for bass fishing! I really want to get into bass fishing so any and all help, tips, techniques, gear, etc would be greatly appreciated!
