  1. I'm looking for a reel to use for skipping baits. I have a budget of about $250usd. any advice would be appreciated.
  2. I've been bass fishing with a spinning rod for years now. now i want to try a baitcaster. looked at new shimano DC 150 reel. any idea what rod to pair it with? also besides a further cast why use a bait caster? thanks
  3. Hi all ? Wondering what fluorocarbon you use for Spinning reel and baitcasters. I tried out several few years back for spinning and baitcasters. I liked Sunline Super FC Sniper Flourocarbon for my baitcasters. Really like how it performs! I’ve used Suffix fluorocarbon but it would tangle as season gone on. Not a big fan it’s just “decent.” whats your fluorocarbon for spinning and baitcasters!? How is the Suffix Flourocarbon Advance? Seen it was new. Thanks!
  4. Just purchased my first bait caster today - actually 3 of them: Abu Garcia Silver Max, Abu Garcia Max Z and a Pinnacle Solene. Bought them all slightly used for a steal. Regardless of the fact that I've never used one, If I had to keep only one, which one should I keep? Is there a dime's worth of difference between them? They are all on Rhino's 5'6 Medium Action rods (Indestructible Glow-Tip). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  5. So I was thinking about buying a bait caster and throwing some 50lbs braid on it and using it to fish with frogs. What bait caster would be best for this?
  6. Hey guys.. I need help with 2 baitcasters setups.. What type of rod and line do you suggest for: 1. Spinnerbait / Buzzbaits and 2. Top waters like Zara spooks, poppers thanks!
  7. I have recently bought a kastking royale legend. It got overwhelming good feedback and is very cheap. I have been researching whether or not to put backing on my reel and have come up with mixed responses. So here is my question. I am going to put on around 40 pound braid on a Spool with holes, do I need backing? Thanks for the help. P.s. Do you think 200 yards of line is enough for a big red drum?
  8. Both the the shimano chronarch and the zillion tws are both great reels in my price range, and I'm just having a hard time deciding. The combo won't be finnese but It won't be a flipping stick either.
  9. what do you prefer and why? what are the good/bad things about each?
  10. after christmas I'm going to invest in a higher end set up than the ones I have. I'm thinking of getting a duckett ghost and one of these two reels. what baitcaster do you reccomend and why? http://www.ebay.com/itm/131292781788#ht_1775wt_907 http://www.ebay.com/itm/PFLUEGER-SUMMIT-BAITCASTER-RIGHT-HANDED-FISHING-REEL-6-4-1-BRAND-NEW-/251624093543?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a95f6f767#ht_243wt_907
  11. Hello dear forum users, I am new here. I came here to seek an advise. I am from Europe and have been fishing for most of my life. As you probably know in Europe we almost exclusevely use spinning reels. Yet couple of years back I started to read about baitcasters and wanted to try it out. Sadly it's a rather expensive reel for my budget and I want to decide what to buy very carefully. Because baitcasters are so popular in US I thought that it's a best place to ask questions. I found alot of information but there is alot of contradicting statements from anglers I found about these reels. I know the main advantages and disadvantages, but still have couple of questions First of all I was wondering about the size of these reels. I am looking for a reel for pike fishing mostly, was looking at low profile Abu Garcia models and I found no difference sizewise between different models (by sizewise I mean size of lures and lines that it is made off). Is there any size differences between models or is this neglectable and only the quality dictates the range of use? And second question would be for users of Abu Garcia Pro Max. This is a model that I am thinking of buying. I found alot of good reviews about the reel. I was wondering if it's a good model to choose for pike fishing. I normally use lures between 1/5oz and 3/4oz (rarely anything bigger but you never know). I know that 1/5oz is rather light for baitcaster, so I was wondering is it still possible to use such lures (atleast during calm days). Sometimes I only want to take one rod for short trip and having something rather universal is nice. Sorry for asking maybe rather basic questions. I would be very grateful if you help me out and answer.
  12. While noticing the gear ratios getting higher and higher on new reels I thought I'd ask this question. -what are slower reels best for? and do you prefer a slow or fast reel and why?
  13. What line are you guys using for the most part. I dont have time to order anything, as I plan to go fishing this weekend...and will pick stuff up tomorrow if now today. Most likely at my local Academy, Walmart, local Chucks Bait & Tackle. Just need advice on a good fluro carbon...ive only used like three; Viscious....low down was knot strength wasnt to great. Berkley Vanish Flurocarbon....that stuff sucks... Seaguar Invizx too much stretch...and I noticed a decrease in weakness of line after fishing it in reallly muddy water. What would you guys suggest
