Just looking for some friendly advice as to areas to concertate on, Lures, colors, etc. I haven't fished the Reservoir in over 10 years, just getting back into fishing actually. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Since I live really close to the james river, I really want to try smallmouth bass fishing. My friend told me that he goes all the time to pony pasture and wade across the river to fish. I would like to know what locations are the best around Richmond, va and what lure i should use. The only time I go fishing at the james river is when the shad arrives around April. Thanks.
