  1. I am located near Lake Harding in Alabama. I have used very few jerkbaits and have not been successful. I am just curious if anyone around the area of Lake Harding, Martin, Eufaula, West Point, etc. ever use jerkbaits successfully?
  2. I have been seeing a TON of shad in my local fisheries.(Alabama) Some of the shad are deeper, 10-30 feet, and I can see them with my graphs. Some are shallow in the backs of the creeks. We can see big bass constantly feeding on the shad in the backs of the creeks, but we are not able to get any of them to bite anything. Has anyone figured out any tricks to catching bass that already have millions of real shad to eat? Im open to all ideas or tricks to getting them to bite. I would also like some input on catching bass suspended around bait balls. Thanks!
  3. Hey guys, live about 5 miles from Logan Martin, and I enjoy fishing that body of water but as a Kayak fisherman I am also on the lookout for small bodies of water to fish. Any recommendations on some small bodies of water an hour or so away would be greatly appreciated. I don't mind doing a bit of trekking and portaging to get to a spot especially if it is a spot that is vacant of power boats and PWC's....not that I have an issue with that at all, just when my yak has a 1hp motor (me) calm water is fast water Also any tips on getting permission to fish small ponds I may find on google maps etc... I want to always be the guy that does the right thing and not assume its ok and trespass on someones private lake. Cheers!
  4. Big things happening y'all! I am moving from Kennesaw, GA to Auburn, AL this summer. What are good places to fish for bass in the area? I am gonna continue to hold a GA fishing license in addition to an AL license, so that broadens my horizons. Also, I'm investing in a nice fishing kayak so I can cover some water. Lakes Harding, and Martin look like the closest big bodies of water. There also seem to be a lot of small lakes and ponds in the Auburn/Opelika area. I know nothing about those bodies of water. Any suggestions about fishing the area, the bodies of water, and/or tackle would be hugely appreciated! Cheers
  5. Hey y’all! My name is David and I currently live in Kennesaw, Georgia but I’m moving to Auburn, Alabama in July. I am really new to fishing have been fishing as a sport for about a year now; mainly for bass but I really enjoy other types of fishing as well. Therefore, any beginner tips are appreciated. This summer I’m looking to step up my fishing game. I’ve been getting into kayak fishing, and I really want some new rods and reels to add to my arsenal. I already have a 6’6” medium spinning rig. If anyone could recommend what they think are 2 or 3 super versatile rod/reel setups and their uses, that would be massively helpful! I was thinking 1 more spinning set up and 2 baitcasters. I want some more gear but I don’t want to be bogged down with too many rods and reels. Any help is welcome! Also, does anyone know of kayak bass tournaments in Alabama? Since I’m moving there this summer, I want to get involved in competitions in Alabama. Really excited to be on the forum! Thank you in advance for any help! Cheers ?, David
  6. Hey guys I’m heading down to Lake Guntersville the first week of April and just had some questions about the place. This will be my first time taking my boat outside of my comfort zone (my local lakes I’m familiar with) and I didn’t know if there was a certain way to run your boat through the place or if there were any hidden objects that I would want to avoid. We are staying in Guntersville for the weekend and will be launching the boat there as well. Any feedback is appreciated as always. Thanks in advance!
  7. Who is down to finally kick off a full spring of catches!? If anyone around Georgia wants to get together let me know! I live in Macon, Ga but I am willing to travel!
  8. I have been fishing small rivers and creeks throughout Alabama for the last three years. (Locust fork Mulberry fork hatchet and waxahatchee). I use an aluminum stick steer boat to get to shallow areas. I never go to the main bodies of water due to crowds. I definitely catch slightly smaller fish but probably greater numbers. My question is why do yall "serious" amateurs only stick to the large bodies of water? Is it because of the accessibility, fish size, fish movement, ect. I am just afraid I am doing something wrong because I might see one person every three trips.
  9. I'm 25 and just getting back into fishing. Currently trying to get my boat back together (78 cimmaron) it is getting water in the bottom cylinders. I've been taking my little girl fishing and just looking for some tips and ideas of new fishing techniques.
  10. I bought a kayak about a week ago. I've used it 3 times thus far and have seen about a 4 foot alligator.I live in the heart of gator country.I've been trying to get used to the kayak before I go fishing...I know mating season is just around the corner..and they are getting to be territorial... Has anybody that fishes with kayaks ever had a problem with 'gators? What should I do if one starts approaching me topwater? Thanks!
  11. Hey guys Im headed up from South Alabama to Logan-Martin this weekend (3/21-22) for a club tournament. Any reports, tips, help would be greatly appreciated!

  13. I have searched for a couple weeks now trying to find out for sure if in a all electric vessel under 16ft. If it requires you to have a fire extinguisher. It clear that if you have any gas or butane propane or fuel of any type a fire extinguisher is required. Laws are extremely vague for vessel that is electric only. I do have navigation lights and some other work lights on my canoe and a couple weeks away from adding a trolling motor just wanna stay on legal side and avoid any hassle of not being properly equipped.
  14. Just checking to see how many Alabama fisherman we have out there. I would like to start a Bragging Rights thread for us Alabamians. It has worked out well for the Florida group and the northeast guys are doing well also. I just need to get some guys on board and we will get this ball rolling.

  16. So, our club has our annual spring 2-day tournament on Lay Lake in Alabama this weekend and the prepping has already started! Fishing Reports, Topo Research, new line, couple trips to the tackle store and one last question to the Bass Resource Forum community......how would you spend your 1 day of pre-fishing on new waters? Me, as the co-angler, and the angler have never fished this impoundment before, but after doing online/local research, I want to figure out the best way to spend the day on the water hunting fish, graphing the lake, and proper time management. I know if your not in the southeast, you probably never fished this lake, but if KVD can win a tourney there in the spring, why not us. I know that the shad spawn is on right now, and that lake vegetation (hydrilla, dollar weed and more) is abundant, along with rocky bottom spots that hold spotted bass. Thank Folks!
  17. I just recently acuired a umbrella rig or alabama rig. I see it work wonders with other online and in tornememnts but i havent had any luck so far. So anyone who has used this rig got any tips or any good feedback on it?
