  1. My spinning reel makes a clicking noise at the lowest and highest points when my spool goes up and down. I saw on another thread that its from an screw on this oscillating piece that is loose, so I tried tightening it and turns out it was tight, so I don't even know why its clicking but anyways when trying to put it back together I had this spring that I needed to put in place and I cant get it into place and I just want to know if anyone knows how to do it. I even bent the spring trying to put it back into place. I somehow always try fixing something little and I make it way worse. The spring is highlighted in the photo and the area it needs to go has an arrow pointing towards it.
  2. Is there anyone who owns or knows anything about either of these Raid rods? I've been trying to find information about them outside of their own website, but it's pretty difficult to come by. I mainly want to know how they compare against a Destroyer P5 (or any other higher-end rod) in terms of quality, sensitivity, etc... Thank you in advance.
  3. I’ve been building and repairing my own equipment for a little over a year and with all this time on my hands waiting to return to work I’ve picked up a a little extra cash doing repairs and upgrades for friends and family. A friend of a friend recently contacted me about building him a rod so it looks like I’ve picked up my first client. I started out with minimal equipment... the $80 MudHole kit with the cardboard hand wrapper, CRB rod dryer, basic tools, and one extra stand. It’s definitely done the job for me while I was learning, but it’s time to get some better equipment. I’ve upgraded a lot of my tools, but I’m wanting to get a new hand wrapper setup and a new dryer and stands. Something that I can use with a power wrapper if I decide to get one down the line. What are your recommendations? Thanks in advance for any advice. UPDATE.... Looking at the Batson line of equipment. Anyone have experience with their hand wrapper? And is the dryer any good?
  4. I broke the tip portion of my very best/favorite 2 piece casting rod ( Shimano Expride 172H-2) The base/handle portion is fine, but the tip is shattered into multiple pieces. Anyone have advice for how to just get the tip section from Shimano elsewhere or am I going to have to pay for a complete new rod...??? Any help, advice or direction would be greatly appreciated
  5. So, I have 5 baitcasting rods and 5 reels. I'm looking for opinions on which reels to mount on which rods. Here's what I've got. -7'3" Xh fast frog/flippin rod -7'0" Mh fast plan to use for bottom. contact type baits. -7'3" Mh mod for bigger treble hook baits -7'0" Med fast I use for spinnerbaits/chatterbaits. -6'10" Med mod topwater rod. Small treble hook baits. And for reels.. -Caenan 6.3 -Chronarch Ci4 7.6 -Curado 70 7.2 -Curado K 7.4 -Slx Mgl 8.2 Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to give me their advice and opinions on which reel should go where.
  6. Im 14 and Im starting to take my fishing to the next level. Im learning from YouTube channels like Glenn. I also have read bass resource religiously. Im switching my fishing arsenal over to baitcasters after about 2 years of using only spinning gear. Im a broke 14 year old and my parents are NOT helping me financially with any of my hobbies, so Im looking for a budget rod to build my arsenal around. Shimano SLX vs Shimano Exage? These will be for bottom contact lures or lures I throw a lot. To save money Im throwing my reaction baits on a Shimano Sellus, $50 dollar rod. Which has better sensitivity? Better overall quality? Not too worried about weight since Im not a all day tournament fisherman. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
  7. Need advice. Small inland lake, maybe 5-6 acres in Central Michigan. 25ish feet at its deepest. Water is pretty stained with lots of weeds. One small stream comes into it and another small one flows out but is dammed up so not much water flow. Most of the lake is 2-7 foot deep weed beds. I've been putting everything out there, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, top water frogs, tubes. Dark colors, light colors. No bass this year (4 days out so far) and none last year but lots of pike last year. Haven't tried live bait yet but I'm about to go grab some crawlers. Any tips or advice?
  8. Good evening Guys, First off thank you to everyone who had responded to my initial thread and provided advice on purchasing a used boat. I ended up getting a new boat from a dealer within my price range that I felt would fit well for what I want to do which is primarily spending time on the water with my wife and daughter fishing. The boat is a 2018 Lund Rebel SS 1600 with a 50hp Mercury ELPT EFI and trailer. I recently took the required New Hampshire Boaters Safetry Course online and passed the proctored exam. While this was insightful about the “rules of the water” I’m feeling a bit lost with the new boat, which I’ll pick up this coming Thursday. I plan on reading the manuals which come with the boat and motor and am hoping they will be insightful on the outboard break in process along with maintenance requirements. For now I only have a Garmin EchoMAP Plus 63cv for electronics which the dealer is installing and will be running off the only battery the boat will have for now which will also be used for cranking the engine. I’m hoping this will not cause issues in depleting the battery where the outboard will be running off the same battery? I have also purchased the following equipment: - Paddles x2 - Fortress FX7 Anchor w/ 6’ SS Chain and 150’ anchor rope - Fenders with Line x4 - Trailer and Hitch Locks - Type III Life Jackets x3 - Type IV Throwable Cushions x2 - Retractable Transom Boat Buckle Tiedowns with Trailer Mounting Kit - Z-Launch 10’ Watercraft Launch Cord I know I need Signaling Devices. I have whistles attached to the life jackets but would like to purchase a kit which would make me compliant for any saltwater fishing I may do from time to time in Maine. I’m also looking into Weego Jump Starters. What else am I forgetting or should I know / do? What do you wish you knew when starting out? Thanks all, tight lines.
  9. I have a small pond on my farm around 3/4 of an acre. My dad stocked 2 grass carp in there around 4 years ago and they are still alive and kicking. They are either both the same sex or have no success in reproducing because I only see these two in there. Both are at least 30 lbs if not more and now my dad doesn't want them in there so I am totally up for the challenge of getting them out of there. One problem. I have no idea where to start. I have read that wonder bread and sweet corn chum could attract them but I'm lost from there. If anybody has tips, tricks, or ideas for me to finally catch these awesome fish I would love to hear it!
  10. Hey guys, I haven’t been on here in a few months but have been back lurking around this week, so many of you don’t know me. Anyways, over the last few months I’ve realized a valueable lesson about life and fishing that I felt the need to share. I learned that time is an extremely valuable thing... especially when it comes to time that we have to go fishing. I know this is a cliché saying but many people do not realize the truth in this statement until life hits and they can’t do the thing they love as much as they used to anymore. Back in high school I used to fish tournaments every weekend, fish every break, and every other time I had a chance. Normally about three to four days a week. I gruaduated in last may and decided to join the army and start college around the same time. (Not a great idea there’s no extra minutes in life). Long story short last weekend was the first time I’ve been fishing since I graduated. I remember being mad if I didn’t have more than four hours to fish and wouldn’t go. Now I’m just thankful to be back on the water at least for a few hours a week. You can bet that even if I only have one hour I’m going to take it now. I guess the moral of my story is no matter how old you are, don’t take the time you have to chase these little green fish for granted. I’m just glad I learned at 19 instead of 49 and had regrets looking back.
  11. For deep cranking (5XDs-10XDs), do you prefer a med-hvy, hvy or x-hvy as well as mod, mod fast or fast tip?
  12. I’m debating on switching out the O split rings on my my crank baits (at the line tie) to snaps, and the regular round-bend treblehooks to EWG style hooks. What are the pros and cons to this, I’m very new to crankbait fishing customizing and could use some help. I am normally a soft plastic, Chatterbait, and Spinnerbait guy. Just decided to dive in to crankbaits this past year, and even though I’ve caught some fine, I’m wanting to tinker and catch more.
  13. So I'm looking into this rod and I want to be able to throw big lures such as the whopper plopper 130 and the river2sea S-waver, but I also want to be able to throw some weightless senkos good. Currently looking at the Daiwa Tatula Elite Signature Series Bass Crankbait Casting Rod; would that be a good choice??? Looking for advice and help from anyone
  14. Hi Guys, I'm from South Africa and will be in the Tulsa area for a few days. Is there anywhere I can bass fishing?? Busy doing a road trip through the USA. Hoping to fish wherever I can! Any and all advice appreciated.
  15. I'm going fishing in the morning with my girlfriend. I was wondering if anyone in or has fished in the Rapides Parish area of Louisiana, what are some good lakes around to bank fish for bass? On my profile I listed Rodemacher Lake (Cleco Lake) as my favorite only because I caught my most recent bass there. Any advice on the best techniques to use from the bank would be greatly appreciated as well.
  16. Just bought some 6" Zoom Ultravibe Speed Worms. Never used anything like this before. What would be the most effective way/ways to rig and fish them? Can they be used for drop shots? Any help would be most appreciated.
  17. Hey guys, I recently bought some 2 strike king pro model jigs that rattle. Question is how would i fish this lure? Im not sure if its like a football jig, casting, etc.? Any advice is appreciated, thanks. Tight lines.
  18. I'm okay with a baitcaster but the pinpoint accuracy and distance isn't there like it is with a spinning rod. I'm thinking about getting a stout spinning rod for bass fishing, like an inshore medium or medium heavy 7-0 feet or 7-6. Thought you saltwater guys might advise me on a good brand to try. I'm thinking of spending $100 or less. I'd like split handle. I have an old Penn Battle I bought at a discount store. It had lost inch or 2 of tip and been repaired. Played with it yesterday and it'll launch a lure. That's what got me thinking.
  19. Hey all, I'm Chris and I live in Charlotte (Weddington) NC and have been cutting my teeth on local farm ponds and small lakes. I've become well versed in fishing weightless baits (senkos/flukes), Texas Rigs, Spinnerbaits, Carolina rigs and can fish most other mainstream techniques with good success. However, I can't seem to even get ONE BITE on the frog. I fish Spro, KVD Sexy Frogs, Booyahs, Livetargets etc. and modify them (trimming skirts, dots on belly, etc) but have had no success. I fish it on a 7'3 Duckett Ghost Heavy fast action rod with a Duckett 320 7.1:1 spoiled with 50 Lb braid. Have tried walking near weed edges, Skimming across surface, hopping, popping, and even letting it sit with minuscule "pulses" of the tip to make the skirt move ever so slightly. All of this and not one bite. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Thanks in advance.
  20. Hey Guys! Im getting back in to worm fishing and I wanted to see what size of tungsten weights you guys use the most, what application, and your go to. Im also looking at finesse tungsten weights so drop shot ned rig etc. More advice the better! Thanks!
  21. hey folks, just wondering if anyone knew of any good lipless crankbaits for slow rolling im looking for a pretty light, slow sinking bait with a lot of surface area
  22. Ok so this week my tackle box fell of a friends boat and all my stuff collected over 25 years gone. I am disabled and doing the long wait for a disability hearing. The question is on very limited money where should I start rebuilding for bass fishing the waters in Maryland. Like I said money is limited but I want decent lures that will work. Where would you guys start on replacing everything if you had to. What would you get first, second...
  23. I have a couple of really large baits that I really want to use, but I'm really intimidated by them. I'm referring specifically to the Spro BBZ-1 Rat, the Lucky Craft Real Ayu and Bluegill, and the Spro BBZ-1 jr. They are the largest and heaviest lures I own. The rod and reel I use are a 7'9 Cabela's swimbait rod rated for 1-4 oz., and an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur STX 5600 spooled with 65lb Suffix braid. I love the rod and reel when I'm using smaller baits such as the 5" Castaic BD Shad and Keitech swing impact fats. When I tie the heavier lures on, it feels like the the rod cant handle it, and I'm afraid to make a hard cast. I haven't heard anything bad about the BBZ-1 Rat but yet I'm too intimidated to use the d**n thing. Does anyone have any advice they can give me on how to approach the big baits?
  24. Hi guys, After years of fishing with only Ugly Stiks and never spending more than 50 bucks on a reel, i decided to go crazy and get a new fishing rod and reel. So I got the New St Croix 7ft Medium Fast 2016 Legend Elite Casting Rod with a Lews Team Pro Speed Spool Casting Reel as kind of a versatile all-rounder. My question is, do I need to be careful on how I treat these things? Coming from a Ugly Stik, you can imagine me throwing it around and yanking it if the line gets stuck. Will the St Croix snap if I treat it the same way (more about the yanking if the line gets stuck, i doubt i'll toss it around)? Also I just like to use the rod to bring the fish out of the water all the way up to my feet (3-5 lb bass) . Is this a no no for these rods? I know a lot of you have premium sticks in here so just wanted to see if I have to treat it like a baby or how much I needed to be careful. Thank you. (do u think i made a good choice btw? These rods are so new, i haven't found a single review on them)
  25. hello all, im new here and was hoping to gain a little knowledge in terms of speaking. I love to fish but lately u have been fishing a little collage pond that's stocked from our local river. the pond has no structure or cover and I know there are bass in there but they will not bite anything I try I have caught a few on accident by pure luck honestly. there is also a fountain in the main part of the pond, so what im asking is how to go about the bass here any advice is welcome.
