  1. Wondering what size hooks come on the Yo-Zuri Rattl’n Vibe lipless cranks. Just got an order of the 3/8oz 2-1/8in model as well as some of the mini version. This is the first time I’ve seen one in person and the hooks seem really small. I use SK Red Eye Shad in the 1/4oz size often and I put #4 EWG short shanks on them. I also like using the #4 VMC bladed hybrid hooks on the back. Anyone have any experience trying out different sizes on these Yo-Zuri baits?
  2. I've never used one of Yo-Zuri's hardbaits. The price point is quite affordable compared to others, yet the quality and aesthetics seem very high end! What are your thoughts on this particular topwater walking lure? I have something of a love affair with the Super Spook Jr, based soley on the success I've had with it. That being said, I'm a sucker for new tackle (aren't we all?!) and would like to give them shot if they're well recommended! I really like the cupped face, slight curve to the body, and the color selections. I mainly fish for Smallmouth in clear, shallow rivers and frequently catch Pike and Largemouth. Any input on the lure, favorite colors, seasonal patterns, etc are much appreciated.
  3. Hey guys, I'm in the market for a line to go on my jerkbait/crankbait rod. It's most likely going to be YZH. I know a lot of you use YZH and was wondering what size you guys suggest. Tackle Tour used 12lb when they tested the vision 110 but that seems a little thick. Suggestions? Thanks!
  4. Just got my new rod/reel combo.....i've been bass fishing for about a year now first time i fished for a bass was june of 2012 (live on long island so that means prob have only fished for bass for 3 months total. I am now gearing up for the start of my full first season i was previously fishing a bass pro shops trigger rod and a bass pro shops extreme baitcaster (green and gold model) which i got for a combined $100 dollars. I have since broken the rod as on my last fish of the season my rod snapped and i have thrown out the entire combo (horrible reel ) so i ordered a new combo an Abu Garcia Veritas (micro guide series) in 7ft medium (previous was a 6'6" medium but i was advised 7 foot is more versatile) and a bass pro shops pro qualifier bait caster in 7.1:1 have it strung up with 12lb yo - zuri hybrid (previously used 12lb trilene xl mono) just wondering if i made a good decision and wondering what my next rod/reel should be and what line? I fish mostly every style (weighted and unweighted plastics, shaky head, drop shot, crainkbaits, jigs, swim jigs, frogs. spooks, poppers, torpedoes)
  5. Hey guys thought I'd share b/c I always enjoy reading your reports. Season finally opened. I was out on a sunny day. Fishing bays, towards the back end (shallow end). Water was crystal clear. Water temp was 67-70. After a couple smaller guys (2-3lbers) in the pads I backed off and caught a couple 5 lbers (big fish up north!) off a submerged rockpile in 6' water and a stand alone log in 6' water before 9:30am. Caught a few more 2-3 lbers in different sets of pads bringing me to lunch. Wind picked up in the afternoon and started blowing onto one side of the bank laced with pads, I fished along that bank and picked a 5 lber off a laydown with pads around it and a bit deeper water pocket. I picked up a 4.5 lber from about 6" of water in the pads. Everyone of the big fish came from the same rig: 7'0" MH Daiwa Procyon, Shimano Citica, 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid, 1/8oz sinker, owner off-set worm hook, 8" lizard and one fish on a zoom speed worm. The rest of the fish came from a typical frog/braid set-up. One or 2 little guys on a crank bait set up. Nothing on my jig rod (I didn't fish it much as the super clear water forced me to downsize to the worm/lizard setup described above). I wanted to comment on the fact that everyone talks about yo-zuri being a great line on baitcasting gear. I must admit I was extremely happy with it compared to all other mono/FC lines. For the price I can forget about expensive FC lines and it responded so much better in sensitivity and stretch (lack there of) compared to mono. Casts great. I tend to hammer my hooksets on a fairly stiff MH rod and I had 0 breakoffs or knot failures with 12# (san diego jam) where I manage to break 17-20# FC. Best of luck out there guys! (all fish caught and released)
