  1. Hi guys, I’m looking for a little more help. This is my first boat so all assistance is greatly appreciated. I recently purchased an Alumacraft MV 1648. I’m waiting on it to arrive now. I plan to hunt and fish out of this boat. Being in the Florida panhandle, I hope to fish for redfish and trout around the edges of the bays. Most of my duck hunting is done at the mouth of rivers and some in the bay. I need help with the right motor. Here are my options: Tohatsu 20hp electric start, power tilt: $3,050 OTD - 110lb motor Tohatsu 25hp electric start, power tilt and trim: $4,480 OTD - 170lb motor Tohatsu 30hp electric start, power tilt and trim: $4,800 OTD - 180lb motor Obviously it wouldn’t hurt to have more HP, but would a 20hp be enough to hunt and fish comfortably out of? I will have another person with me about 40-50% of the time, but we’re both smaller folks. As as I said earlier, it’s my first boat so all the help is greatly appreciated. - Craig
  2. I am looking at buying my first boat, I found this Javelin on Craigslist. I am wondering if anyone has any insight on this. What is the actual model? What would be a fair price? Anyone have any general insight on Javelin or questions I should ask? https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/boa/6197228626.html Thanks
  3. So we have a 1989 Yamaha 150 pro v on the back of a 1999 stratos 273 vindicator. We normally run with a 23p merc trophy and run about 5300 rpms wide open at 57-59 mph. On a recent trip to the chickahominy River we noticed that the fastest we could get it to go was 52 and it was falling on its face trying to get on plane. After inspection upon getting home I noticed a small crack in the blade of the prop, and thought that might have been the problem. Switched the prop to the old 25p 3 blade that we used to run 59.5 on at 4700 rpms only ran 53.5 at 4300 rpms. I'm out of ideas guys. I have a huge tourney coming up on April 25-26 that I need it running good by. Any suggestions would be awesome. Tight lines Andrew
  4. i havent been here in awhile but i know alot of people replied on my last post about choosing my first boat. Well i finally got one. and after spending hours looking at boats i decided to go with a bigger boat i knew i wanted the storage and speed and size for tournaments. Well i came across an amazing deal and got a 2003 tzx 190 skeeter with a 175 yamaha hpdi. only 198 hours on the boat exactly and man bought it and sat it up but took great care of it. i was cautious and took it to a marine mechanic before buying and he said i should go to jail for the price i got it for. I worked really hard for this and was able to keep up all A's this quarter and work 40 hours a week. Just thought id update all of you that i finally got one! pics are below!
