  1. Hey, I never really fished in heavy wood cover before because the fishing for my local species is very different. Caught all my Bass on Spinnerbaits and Crankbaits and Worms. The cover consists mainly out of old, isolated, half- or completetly submerged trees with thick branches and big laydowns around rock bottom. Like here: I want to use 20# AbrazX on my Avid MHF. The Bass here are not getting really big (8lb+ is huge!). So there is 3 Methods I seperated but I dont really know what to use/ which one has the best hookup ratio and the lowest snagging ratio in this type of Cover? - Flippin Jig? Very simple but maybe too big profile, have my eyes on the Ike Mini flip Jig. - Texas Rig with EWG and bobber stop - Texas Rig with flipping Hook snell-knotted and bobber stop paired with beaver baits like Baby DBomb and the Berkley Pit Boss. I plan on fishing lower weights first on the edges of the Cover and then get down in it with the bigger bullets. Water temp will be around 68 to 77 degrees F. (20-25 deg C) So how should I rig this up?
  2. I am planning to learn how to make lures soon. I've done a good bit pf research but there's one final question i have (hopefully) what wood is the best? The two main ones i've heard of are cedar and balsa. But i've also heard that cedar is expensive and that balsa wears down quicker than other woods. So what wood would you guys suggest?
  3. I inherited this rod and no nothing about it. It's one piece, I'm guessing fiberglass. Kind of a translucent green. Cork and wood handle. There are no identifying marks that I can see. I'm clueless here. Any ideas?
  4. Just read on BASSMASTER.com that the Bagley bait company has been ressurected. I couldn't be more happy When they went belly up before, I went out and bought all the Bang-o-lures and Balsa B's I could find. In my opinion the Bang-o-lure was/is the BEST jerkbait ever produced and over the years my supply of them has been slowly dwindling and if the new ones match the bouyancy, action and weight (for castability) of the old I can start replacing them. The Balsa-B's also are a favorite of mine for shallow water/heavy cover cranking only surpassed, IMO, by the old Poe's RC series baits, of which I also bought a huge supply of when the started getting scarce). Now if Yakima could see fit to begin production of the RC baits again, I would do another happy dance. Sorry if this all sounds to silly but I cannot even begin to count all the fish I have caught on these baits...lol
