Money is not the deciding factor here, but looking for anyone who's fished a 4.7:1 PQ with deep running cranks. I'd really like to have the slower speed for cranking deep for walleye. I like the big handle on the Winch also, but its only 5.4:1. Maybe not a huge difference, but with walleye where I fish, it may be. I dont want the PQ if I'm going to have to sacrifice smoothness. I know I'll already be adding 2.5 ounces if I go with the PQ. Wondering what people think would be better for cranks that run 8-16 feet?
So has anyone tried one of these reels out yet?! They've been out for a little while, they seem pretty appealing to me, but I can't find anyone who has used one or posted a review on one. If you used one, can it cast lightweight cranks well (1/4oz.)? Also tell me what you like and dislike about it. What other reels for cranking do you think are better (in the price range, other than the BB1, lol)?
Thanks
I have a dilemma on my hands. My birthday is coming up and I'm wanting to add a cranking setup to what I already have. I will be throwing crankbaits that run from 8' deep all the way to 18'+. The two options that I am looking at are a 2nd generation Revo Winch paired with a 7' 6" Veritas MH Winch rod, or a Lew's Tournament MG Speed Spool (5.4:1) paired with a Lew's Tournament Speed Stick 7' cranking rod. Right now the Lew's setup has a $30 rebate through Tackle Warehouse, but I was really wanting a rod a little longer than 7'.
What would be everyone's pick between these two setups? If anyone has any suggestions that are under $250.00 please list them and why you like them. I have to admit I really like Abu stuff, but trying other products is not out of the question.
