  1. I'm deciding between a few Jig rods in the $100-$150 range, and unfortunately can not hold most of them so I need others experience. I'm buying a 7'-7'3 MH XF/F Casting rod for jigs/Heavy t Rigs. So far its come down to -Dobyns Fury (I own one and like it, but have nothing to compare it to) -IRod Fiber (People love the genesis, this is the same blank with cheaper components) -Cabela's Tournament ZX (sale for $79) -Lews Custom Speed Stick -Possibly wait for refurbished Dobyns Sierra ----- I need to add, There is a 6'8 MH veritas on sale for $40. (I don't mind that it fishes one power up). Ive felt the veritas but thought the material felt somewhat cheap, and I've heard it isn't that sensitive. But $40 is a VERY good price... I also am considering the DAIWA AirDX. I was going to buy it for a frog rod, but heard really good things and some swear that it fishes jigs with the sensitivity of a $150 rod. However, the very low price point makes me skeptical...It would Reallly help if someone could give their honest opinion of this rod. Thanks
  2. About to purchase new rod for spinning setup. It's my first over 20$ setup. I just bought a lews Tournament speed spin 300. There are major sales right now, and these are my choices. I cannot try them out in stores so am looking for some info on them; experience, flaws, overall value. -Veritas 2.0, 7ft MH-$65 (reluctant because of breaking history) -Falcon HD, 7ft M-$69.99 -H20 Express Ethos 6'10 MH-$59.99 -Shimano Clarus, 7ft MH-$49.99
  3. Hey Bassresource. Is there anybody who owned or used these two rods? I need help choosing my next reaction bait Rod. I'm looking at the Abu Garcia Veritas and the Abu Garcia Villain. I can get either one for under $100. Which is the better choice? I hear a lot of bad reviews of the villain but it was originally priced at $180. Is it better than the veritas? I Own the veritas in 7' MH/f and really like it for reaction baits. The guides aren't the straightest and has blobs of epoxy glue all over but it's done the job well and is more sensitive than my St Croix Premier.
  4. I am trying to compare both the Veritas and the Mojo for bass fishing. I own two Abu Garcia Veritas rods and I love them but my buddy advised me to take a look at the St Croix Mojo. Any experiences or opinions on them? By the way I would be using the rod with an Abu Garcia Revo reel of some sort. -BeenReel
  5. Good afternoon! I want to take a quick minute to share a good deal I got at Dicks yesterday. 7'6" Veritas casting rod (MH) for $70. I've been eyeing these rods for awhile and at $30 off, it was too good to pass up. I am going to be using this rod for frogging, so I threw on my Skeet Reese Victory (7.1:1 ratio) reel currently spooled with 30lb power pro on it for the time being so I will be able to use it tomorrow. I am going to hold out and try to find a good deal on a Citica and spool it with some 50lb 832 braid in the future, but for now this seems like it is going to do the trick. I'll have more info on how this rod performs in the days to come. I'll also be using this as a flipping/pitching rod as I learn the techniques (I am very sloppy and almost comical attempting to perform both of these techniques). Wish me luck, and stay posted for some more info!
  6. So I have a 7'1" *** that i originally used for plastics and jigs. Which i love the sensitivity. I was debating on switching the rod to a spinnerbait rod, but i have been thinking. The *** has a very fast taper, it's pretty stiff. I do like that for plastics, but I don't know about spinnerbaits. So I was debating on buying a 7 ft Veritas or 7 ft Halo Daylite. Sensitivity is not that big of a factor, but i would like it to be pretty good. Also i see the Veritas rods have evolve guides on them now (***'s "company".) Also if that doesn't work out, are the Omens more sensitive than the Veritas? I could always use more plastics rods! If there are any other rods that you would recommend for spinnerbaits by other companies, let me know! Also I have a hard time, but would like to just stick with a couple of rod companies. I love to try everything, but I'm like ocd with certain things. So having tons of different rod brands and reels, kind of annoys me "haha"! I was thinking of sticking with 3 (for different applications) Powell Infernos, 13 Omens, and Abu Veritas (possibly). Duckett Ghost rods come out soon too! Oh no! Sorry if this was kind of rambling, but I'll appreciate the help!
  7. I've always liked these rods, but never bought one and got a *** instead. Alright so i was wondering due to all i hear about these Veritas rods breaking. What is your experience with them and should this turn me away from getting one (7'3" mh casting.) This may sound pathetic but since im a "teenager" money is a little tight and this is 20 bucks cheaper than the ***. I have a 7'1" ***, but it is the same price at 100. So i was also wondering is the sensitivity close to the ***/better or worse, or do you think I should just spend the measly extra 20 bucks and get another ***? Thanks
  8. Just got my new rod/reel combo.....i've been bass fishing for about a year now first time i fished for a bass was june of 2012 (live on long island so that means prob have only fished for bass for 3 months total. I am now gearing up for the start of my full first season i was previously fishing a bass pro shops trigger rod and a bass pro shops extreme baitcaster (green and gold model) which i got for a combined $100 dollars. I have since broken the rod as on my last fish of the season my rod snapped and i have thrown out the entire combo (horrible reel ) so i ordered a new combo an Abu Garcia Veritas (micro guide series) in 7ft medium (previous was a 6'6" medium but i was advised 7 foot is more versatile) and a bass pro shops pro qualifier bait caster in 7.1:1 have it strung up with 12lb yo - zuri hybrid (previously used 12lb trilene xl mono) just wondering if i made a good decision and wondering what my next rod/reel should be and what line? I fish mostly every style (weighted and unweighted plastics, shaky head, drop shot, crainkbaits, jigs, swim jigs, frogs. spooks, poppers, torpedoes)
