  1. Last month I got ugly stik gut hook knife for bigger fish and camping, All the knife I had was only Fillet knife but I was looking for something bigger with stronger structures . And I wanted to pay less of course since it was going to banking and camping and about banging it and abuse it. So I came across the ugly stik knife and I love it and I glad to find it, First day when I hold it I knew it is good knife because it has thick rubber handle non slippery. Blade was very super sharp and stays sharp for last 100 fish that I clean with, Also I used it to get the slime and fish scales and it was great. All around it is a great knife for 20 bucks and highly recommended. The only negative point is, it has nothing to put on the belt so I use the magnet and it is really working good.
  2. I bought my 2 sons a Daiwa Revros 3000H and Pflueger President 30 spinning reels and I want to find the right size rods for these reels. I've search everywhere on the internet and the info I've found is a little confusing. They only freshwater fish mostly for bass. When I searched for the Pflueger, the results were anywhere from a 6 ft to a 7.5 ft rod. When I searched for the Daiwa, the results were an 8.5 ft to a 9 ft rod. Why such a discrepancy when the 2 reels are basically the same size? I'm only looking at Ugly Stiks Elites, but I don't know if I should get a 6 ft, 6.5 ft or 7 ft rod. I think a 7.5 ft and certainly a 8.5 or 9 ft rod is way too big especially if they'll mainly be fishing from a row boat. Am I wrong? Also, any thoughts on Med vs Med/Heavy and 1 or 2 piece?
  3. Shakespeare Ugly Stik 6'6" Ultra Light 2 Piece Rod Okuma Ceymar C30 Spinning Reel What are your thoughts on the above combo? What type of fish would you be fishing for with a 6'6" ultra light rod sporting a Ceymar C30? I was thinking about using the setup for micro-fishing, with Frog Hair 7x Tippet and some size 24 hooks. Unless the rod and reel would be best suited for another type of fishing (along with different line/hooks)... Thoughts?
  4. Hey guys, I'm wanting to get a new rod. I was really hyped about getting a few mojo bass rods by St croix- but people give them so much crap on here! I have only used ugly stiks and Abu rods under $80 to success (I have used other rods which broke). My thoughts on why people bash the mojo bass rods on here is because they use really high end gear, where all I want is to upgrade from very cheap rods. Can you guys at least assure me that the mojo bass rods are better than the ugly stiks and Abu rods I've been using??? To give you an idea, the most sensitive I own is the ugly stik intercostal 6' 6" Medium 2 pc.
  5. This summer i will be going to Florida (near Cape Canaveral). I'd like to bring a fishing rod to fish the banana river. First of all, what could i most likely catch from shore/ a dock? Second, what type of setup would be good for this. I was thinking about getting an ugly stik and making sure I rinse the reel out often because I don't want to spend a ton of money on something I will only use maybe once a year. Would this work or will the reel die quickly?
  6. Hey guys, New to the forum but have been reading great threads with helpful information that past few weeks. Figured I would join and ask for some great advice myself! I am looking to pick up a new spinning reel for average largemouth fishing. I think I have decided on the Pflueger President 6930 over a Shimano based on price and recent quality reviews, and I am looking for an affordable rod. I came across an Ugly Stik 7' MH/F for $40 bucks and a free shirt lol Anyone have any experience or similar combos? I was told the 7' might be too big but I personally don't think so. Would I be better with a 6'6" M/F? I am currently using my old Shimano GR-X1200 my father gave me on a Berkley Graphite 6' but want to use this rod for trout and have a separate bass rod. Thanks! -Steve
  7. Hey Guys, Has anybody used these new Ugly Stik Elite Spinning Rods?
  8. What are your thoughts on the Ugly Stik GX2 as an all around bass fishing rod in either spinning or casting rods?
