  1. I’m looking to add more stupid tube setups to my arsenal & I don’t want to waste any more money getting the wrong sized stupid jighead or wrong sized tube. (See pic below, having trouble finding a good tube to go with these) I’m wanting a weighted weedless presentation for my tube setups and I’m wanting to know what brand/size tubes people use and what brand/size/weight stupid jig heads to pair with them. I need a finesse (2-3”) weighted weedless tube setup and a normal (3.5”+) weighted weedless setup as well. Sometimes I’ll even use a shaky head setup with tubes and use a a little under 1” of plastic worm inside as my base. If anyone does this and has a favorite set up let me know! Im going to try out the V&M pair on tacklewarehouse. Sounds like their 1/8 3/0 will pair well with the 3.5” tube. As of now, the owner phantom is the only one I’ve found to work well for me. What are some favorite stupid tube set ups you all like to use?
  2. Hey guys, I like throwing tubes in the 2.5" to 2.75" size range. In the past, I've used a lot of the Berkley Power Tubes and have had good success with them as far as putting fish in the boat and they held up ok for as soft as they seemed. However, this past year I was running into a lot more durability issues than before and having tube heads popping through the head of the bait many times even on the first fish. Maybe they had a few runs that didn't have quite as thick of walls or something, but I'm looking for your recommendations on your favorite small tubes.
  3. I have a few questions. I am looking for suggestions on tube jigs (3/8 & 1/2) with a long shank and a 60 degree line tie. Doesnt have to be the goby-head like you see in the pic below. Would be great if I can get them on TW or anywhere online. The reason I'm asking is becayseI'm having trouble rigging my 3.5 inch tubes. I find that the shank of the hook is too short, forcing me to pop out the line tie before the end of the tube. Is this a real problem or am I just worrying about something that doesnt really matter? By the way, I like to use berkley power tubes and I picked up some coffee tubes today if that makes any difference, Thanks.
  4. If I cast a tube out into the lake and start to retrieve the tube at a steady rate before it reaches the bottom, what type of action does a tube give (like a Rapala)? I typically just use a ball head jig (1/8th oz) and I noticed that it kind of just spins in circles. Does anyone have any experience with fishing a tube like a Rapala? How would you rig the tube to get more of a baitfish action on the retrieve?
  5. Hey guys, thinking about trying some tube baits but not sure which ones or whether I need them. I have some Yamamoto Fat Ika's, do I need anything else? If so what kind and what kind of hooks?
  6. Is there a way to rig a tube with one of the top quality tube hooks (e.g. TK190) AND an inside weight? I've tried bell sinkers but the loop is always too small for the TK190 keeper to thread through. Are there any slick ways to rig this up? I've long used EWG hooks with traditional inside tube weights - they skip great and do catch fish but I'm after the better hook-up percentage that comes with the specialized tube hooks, which don't work with the traditional inside weights because of the angled hook penetration. So I'm currently stumped. Any ideas, anyone? -- Rick
  7. Hit the Mississippi pretty good today up here in the north country(Minnesota). Caught a couple smallies on mostly tubes as that's what they wanted. However I'm curious as to my current gear: Daiwa Revros 2500 w/ 15lb braid Daiwa Cronos 7'1" ML F Throwing 1/8oz tubes, but what was odd to me was how tough it was to land them. Not trying to horse them, but on the bigger smallie of the day it made a few quick runs which left me struggling to gain ground. Eventually the line broke, my guess the knot was weekended cause the rocks and me being lazy on not retying. All fishing was done from shore. Is my drag set to tight? Does it sound like I'm horsing the fish in? Looking for recommendations. If this should else where I do apologize. Thanks!
  8. what type of hook do you like for tubes? ive been flipping them but it seems like my hookup ratio is way down compared to my other soft plastics. and im doing everything the same. its like the hook is barely hooking them and then they pull off has happen 4 times this year already. the ones do hook its barely in the skin on the mouth like not enough of the hook is popping. i was using a trokar ewg hook. do i need a wider gap hook? what hook do you recommend?
  9. Hi everyone- Ive finely decided to start tube fishin ! Been fishin for 40yrs never bothered with them. I got a answer from a previous topic on rod&line. But now im looking for for--BRANDS OF 3in or3.5 TUBES-- . Some have a bit of a solid head for rigging, others dont. So can you help me with: 1. Hook type and size.( for 3in or 3.5in). 2. Brand specific (some have more tail than others). 3. Any other recommendations tackle wise. Thanks for your time-KDW96 HAPPY NEW YEAR............
  10. if you had a 3/8 OZ tube jig and a 3 inch tube rigged up would you fish it with your baitcasting set up or spinning set up?
  11. I can't find the white ones anywhere.... Anyone know what happened- They were awesome bed tubes....
  12. I admit, I woefully underuse soft plastics, most likely due to my having taught myself to fish at a young age. I needed a fast, more interesting way to fish. (I was ten and got bored easily.) Now however, I would like to better utilize them. When do you use soft jerkbaits vs paddletails vs soft craws vs worms vs tubes. Which ones are used for used for what situation as opposed to others. I fish most w/ a t-rig. Which do you rig in what ways for what circumstances? Mostly I use jerkbaits in more open spaces, above and around the edges of weedbeds/stumps. I use soft craws to drag/yo yo along the bottom. I use tubes in heavier cover, and worms for smaller spaces where short casts are necessary (I fish from the bank) i.e. through lily pads, heavy cover, and bluffs/steep areas where vertical presentations are used. I tend to use paddletails as an alternative to jerkbaits, especially in muddier water. I have no experience w/ grubs, or really any soft plastics outside of these listed. Also, which are better search baits and which are fished slow (oviously the got worm there) and how? Rereading this I feel like I total novice. So, I guess this is soft plastic 101.Thanks in advance.
  13. So a few years back I was going up to Rose City to fish. On the way up I stoped at a Northwoods Outlet store in Pinconning. I found these lures made by Luck-E-Strike called Tickle Tubes. Northwoods had a sale on them one package of two for a dime. So I bought two or three packages. Up at the lake the tubes worked like magic catching everything from bluegills to bass to pike it was great. But, I lost all but one since then. Everywhere I go I use it and somehow nail the bass. Anyways I would like to know where I could buy them at (all the other tubes I bought don't work as well). Any help would be great and Thank y'all!
