  1. I’d like to bring up an ever important topic, which is more relevant now than ever. Why is it necessary to put these fish through tremendous stress during a tournament? From fighting for its life after being caught, if caught deep; maybe getting fizzed if it’s “lucky”, thrown in a live well, often taken in an out of the well throughout the tournament, weighed, weighed again, transferred to a suffocating bag, taken out of the bag to get a photo opp, then thrown back in miles away from its bed or territory…most of which don’t survive. I love to fish and maybe I’m sounding naive but I’d love if someone could explain how tournaments work & what individual tourny anglers do to make sure their fish survive. Electronics have taken over too & it’s added even more pressure but I’d like to leave electronics for another forum because that’s it’s own issue now, unfortunately. Everything I read tells me tournaments absolutely destroy fish populations. What do y’all know? Thanks
  2. After a tournament this weekend I'm curious to see what some of your takes would be on this topic. We started in a cove Saturday and caught fish right off the bat, also saw a lot of fish, but they were all small (1-1.5lb keepers), and shallow ~6ft or less. After about an hour we filled a small limit, and decided to go out deep. First cast I had a 4lb follower and decided we made the right choice. After that, we had no more action deep and went spot to spot, mostly shallow, catching the same 1-1.5lbers. At weigh-in, we find out the guys who had done well caught their fish in the same location as we were in the morning, but not until the wind picked up in the afternoon. What would you guys have done? Stayed in the original spot weeding through small bites? I think we made good decisions, but based it off bad information. Discuss
  3. I am getting really frustrated. I have only a couple years experience bass fishing, but I've been teaching myself quite a bit over this past year and doing OK for myself. When I fish from the shore or in my jon boat alone, I do pretty well. I recently joined a bass club as a non-boater and do awful. I pre-fished a tournament lake in my jon boat and bagged 5-6 keepers, then when i go out with my partner for the tournament, i got 0 fish. it's been this way all season, my partner will be culling by noon-time and ive only caught 1-2. Is there something I am missing about the dynamics of fishing from the back? my partner is pretty experienced but not the type of guy to completely box me out from a spot. I was wondering if there are any experienced non-boaters out there who could give me some tips so that I stop embarrassing myself in front of my new fishing buddies!!!!
  4. I've given up on Google search and decided to join the community here because of the extensive knowledge. I've been fishing ever since I could walk, but have only used med. lite 6'6" fast action spinning rods my whole life. Although they're fairly universal rods, I've just recent gotten into tournament fishing and may need an extra advantage on getting the fish in the boat. I think a lot of tourney anglers have too many rods, so I want to limit myself to several rods with specific purposes (skipping, flipping/pitching, crankbait/spinnerbait, etc.). If you had to choose 5 rods or less to cover the broad spectrum of presentations, what would they be? (Action, blank, length, etc.) Ideally, I'd like every rod to be spinning except for the flipping/skipping pole. Thanks, Tate.
  5. Hey guys, Just wondering if anybody has a good fishing report for lake harding and has a good site for fishing reports and fishing logs.
  6. Hi, My name is Adam Smith. I am looking for anyone out there that might have an email or phone number connection to Seaguar Fishing line concerning a sponsorship. If there is anyone out there that could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. I would also be willing to help someone join any of the pro staffs Im on if they could help me out. I am just having a hard time finding a email or phone number to even try and apply for a sponsorship with Seaguar. You can message me if you have anything. Thanks, Adam Smith
